Aside from the top strap, which is practical, I just outright prefer the look of the 1858 Remington. I was gifted a reproduction black powder version which I haven't fired in a very long time. I might take it out and shoot it if I feel all J. B. Hickok one day.


I feel the same way about the 1875 Remington versus the Peacemaker. Taylor makes a reproduction in .45LC for under $600 IIRC. It might be fun to have and to play with, but I see several other firearms purchases-n-projects long before that.
