What are you fuckers reading now?

Just in - a s/h copy of The Lyrics of Tom Waits, The Early Years. Apart from it being in excellent condition, hard back and first edition, it is a gem of heartfelt poetry. I'd never looked to see if such a book existed, having read and re-read his song lyrics for years. I'm sure he must have read Dylan Thomas at some point.

"The Book of Doors" by Gareth Brown. I'm really enjoying it. Books, magical doors, time travel, good guys, REALLY bad guys...just my jam.

The Strange One by Fred Bodsworth. It's a romance of geese and people. And classism, racism, poverty, and famine of the Cree in the 1950s.

West with the Night - Beyrl Markham

If you’ve seen Out of Africa, the Felicity character is based upon Mrs Markham. The producers of OoA didn’t have the rights to her story, so they wrote in Felicity instead.

This book pairs nicely with Too Close To The Sun: the life and times of Deynis Finch-Hatton, the Redford character in OoA, by Sara Wheeler, and of course Out of Africa, by Isak Dinesen (Karen Blixen) that introduced us to these real life stories from the then British East Africa.

I'm about to reread Fourth Wing and Iron Flame because Iron Flame put me in a godsdamned book hangover and the third in the series isn't out until January of next year. This is why I hate series books.. and yet I read so many of them.
