Leave yourself options to adjust on the fly.. adapt the story to the party and temperament of the players. Unless you just want to be feisty, then just go for the TPK

From 5pm local until 9am this morning I was in this pattern of being awake for 30-40 minutes then sleeping for about 90.

I may continue this trend today, as I do not feel well.
