What are you watching?

Just streamed Blue moon.

Brilliant. The filiming and dialogue are what is missing in modern movies. The movies takes place in two hours but gives you a glimpse of the lifetime of a complex artist.

Over the weekend, a handful of flicks:

Sicario: Day of the Soldado - convoluted plot, but great action
Trouble Man - A great Michael Jai White film - billed as an action comedy, but it was more mildly funny action. Still good.
The Man - Silly, goofy pairing of Eugene Levy and Samuel L. Jackson. Has its charm and plenty of action.

Now, Im back to The Penguin on Prime. Great series so far. I wouldn't have known the Penguin was Colin Farrel if I didn't look it up on IMDB.

Jeopardy, of course.

I have not yet perfected refraining from yelling at the contestants, but I'm working on it.

Today, 2 1/2 movies:

Finished up The Wrecking Crew, a new flick with Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista as estranged brothers coming together to investigate the death of their estranged father. It's fairly breezy fun with some great action, good chemistry, wrapped around a plot that, when revealed, is worthy of an A-Team episode. No matter, it's all a good time.

Next a revisiting of Romeo Is Bleeding, starring Gary Oldman and Lena Olin - at the peak of her hotness (in spades). While it doesn't fit the classic requirements of a Film Noir (Oldman was a compromised cop before Olin showed up) it really fits the genre in general. Some developments are logically suspect, but it's a suspenseful, and very sexy ride throughout.

Now, I'm halfway through the psychotic but thoroughly enjoyable Rosie Perez (at perhaps her hottest ever) and Javier Bardem flick Perdita Durango. It's the tone that differentiates this from Natural Born Killers (which I never liked). There's a gleeful, very dak humor behind all this. It's violent, vicious, and often gross, but it all works marvelously. I'll watch the second half later - I hope it doesn't fuck everything up.
