What did you get for Christmas????

Christmas Eve was spent with a friend and her family. I'm usually very shy and wallflowery at gatherings (people who know me are shocked) but I had a wonderful time and didn't spend the whole evening in the kitchen.

Christmas Day was perfect for me. A peaceful day with many phone calls across the states to talk with my loved ones.

TBK: I'm confused. I thought the 12 days of Christmas are from Christmas day until the Epiphany. You mean you already got to open all of them?
Yeah well like i said it was just a concept. Though that might be very interesting to do next year! We were discussing this year how the Christmas season starts on Christmas(at least in the catholic church), though it is treated as though it ends there. This might be fun for next year.

good point. Though i do like the concept TBK's SO used.

the Valentine's day squeeze is on. I can feel the pressure already. :p
I already got that covered! Click on the link in my sig and read the story Mountain Paradise. That's her fantasy, and it's gonna happen this year. At least I'm gonna try and make it happen. We're heading to the proper locale.

My mom and grandma gave me $100 apiece, which I used to buy two CD's, a yoga mat, a couple of DVD's, and a sweater. In addition, my mom got me two candles and a neat little flowerpot/plant thingy that holds pictures.

My hubby got me a surge protector/battery backup for my computer, a really cool Buckeyes jacket, a lavender-scented body wash/lotion set, and Honey and Shea Body Balm and a similarly-scented sugar scrub from Bath & Body Works. I'm gonna smell good this year!

My kids made me a construction paper bracelet. :rose:

My brother and his GF bought me a long-sleeved Buckyes t-shirt.

The book group member who drew my name got me the book that she selected for the upcoming year, a Harry Potter journal, chocolates, and a couple of Harry Potter bookmarks.

Our next-door neighbor gave us $100 to get stuff for the kids, and my hubby's parents sent us a check for $150. We're gonna pool our resources and buy a DVD player for our car.

Got more DVDs from friends. :cathappy: :nana:

And I realized I'm turning into a grown-up when my roommate got me a set of towels and I was VERY psyched! OY!

it's something you say to acknowledge someone else's particularly insightful (or inciteful) quip. :>

Yes, and each whoopie pie costs about three hours in the gym.

Still, a taste of home is a wonderful thing at the holiday.

I am definitely not an Ohio State fan, but even I would like to see them beat ND.

I was shopping in Columbus with my daughter last week, and made a joking comment about being a Michigan fan. She was horrified, and said, "Mother, do you know where you are?! Somebody'll beat you up!" :D

You Americans all go crazy over Christmas with the gifts! :D

I 'see' computers, I-Pods, expensive watches and what have you 'flying' all around :D Maybe I'm just jealous ;) .... Actually, I'm not... I had a wonderful Christmas but we Dutch don't have such a presents (expensive ones) tradition I guess. M and I went out for dinner together on the first day to our favorite restaurant and had a very nice eight-course meal. On the second day we invited our families for a dinner at our place. We bought the kids a small present (they already received loads of presents at "Sinterklaas", the Dutch equivalent of Santa at the beginning of December) and M bought me the nicest cookbook called "De smaak van mijn herinnering" (OK, in English: "Falling cloudberries; a world of family recipies" - not an exact translation) by Tessa Kiros. A real gem of a book. Other than that I received chocolates and flowers being the host of the evening, but that was it. It was plenty... I had a great time spending precious time with M and my (and his) family...
