What Is Your Motivation?

Lit is a safe place to be somebody else, isn't it?

Experiment with who we are not comfortable being?

And then there is the exhibitionist thing.

It is.. It is..

See I don't think you should be done though, but perhaps instead find new motivation, like.. oh I dunno.. there is a lack of really good male threads, and you need to fill the void for us ladies.. :D:D;)

I'm an old man and had a rough couple years. My time is gone.

Good to know you visited though :)

I want to give my two cents (though it isn't worth much...).

I had a picture thread (or three) awhile ago... long enough ago for some to forget... and then again, not long enough ago for others.

I was young when I started posting pictures of myself. I was just out of a long term relationship and didn't know that any one else but him had ever found me attractive. I posted a picture of myself and was shocked to my core by the response.

It was addictive. The urge to post a picture of my body was a quick fix for what I was seeking.

Like so many others have said, it took me from being completely invisible to feeling like someone, somewhere, somehow, had noticed me. Simple me.

Since then, yes, I've grown up. I understand more about the world, more about myself. And I will continue to learn about both those things.

But I will always struggle with that quick fix.

First, your two cents has the same market value as other people. There is no weird exchange rate.

So you're saying you've kicked the addiction, but still Jones on occasion?

I've noticed that quite a bit on lit.

That's exactly what I'm saying. :)

I suppose I'm in a similar boat, but I don't think I've quite kicked the habit yet. I think I get that itch more often than Vixx does, but not enough to restart a thread. Yet.

I have to find different ways to scratch that itch. Not for public consumption anymore.

So I guess there are different levels of intensity and different methods.

Because I am an exhibitionist. I love the playful banter and flirting that goes along having a thread. I also am much more passive and reserved in real life. This is an outlet to be 'someone else'.. let my alter ego run free if you will.. lol.. but mostly just because I am an exhibitionist.. :D:D

Wow, this is more or less what I would say. The main reason, imo, is it's a thrill. Not only that, but it's an exploration of one's sexual side if one isn't experienced in this type of thing. I surely wasn't when I first started posting the few pics that I have. On top of all that, it gives me license to try and be creative and artistic. :)

I used to get the itch often, too. It feels good to have someone say something nice about you, specifically if you aren't feeling very attractive otherwise. But the itch fades with time. Just gets old after awhile. In my experience at least.

(By the way, I don't think you should ever stop posting pictures because you're hot and I already miss them ;) )

Yes, the itch has certainly dulled. And thank you. :) I'm debating starting it up again ... I'd say it's about 60-40 in favor. Ha.

You can see how long I've been a member here and it took me 8 years before I got up the nerve to post something.

I love this community and the people here who I got to know by posting in their threads and getting to know them so I felt safe posting a photo.

I've always been a wall flower and never thought much of myself so for me it was a sort of coming out thing.

Plus, for me, it's fun to see what you can make with a photo whether it's raw or using filters to change the perspective a bit.

I always found that I got a better reaction if I was able capture myself in a more creative fashion. Made it far more fun.

I suppose everybody stops eventually. Some hold on longer than others.

Maybe.

Seems I remember seeing your av and wondering why you didn't have a thread.

This explains it.

And you're so good with your pictures. Hidden talent! :)

I think this is key to standing out, especially as a male on AmPics. Make it interesting. (OK - slightly off topic. Apologies. :) )

60% of lit just got excited

Ha. Maybe.

I think this is why I don't stand out. Not a creative, interesting bone in my body. Lol

I can certainly say if I posted the same pic over and over it becomes absolutely stale and boring. I like to try something and then do something completely different to get away from that. Perhaps in all aspects of life, not just art, keeping oneself contained within a box and never expanding beyond that prevents growth. It's just me personally but I wouldn't be able to stand that.

Pssshh. Maybe not in your bones, but certainly in your mind.

So posting pictures is a giant move outside of one's box...

I have decided to try and spark this topic once more.

Why?

I'm still interested.

I think back to my childhood and how lame the sexual imagery was compared to today. So a woman wore a one piece bathing suit and advertised Tab Soda. The camera ran along her curves. It was appalling.

I've only known one person who regularly drank Tab Soda. She was my ninth grade English teacher. She also carried a yard stick with her for effect.

Today, I take a drive to work and pass by several bikini barista stands. It interests me. Are these young women exhibitionists or do they find that this is their best means to make enough money to afford life in today's world? I'm guessing a combination of both.

But those are paying jobs.

What makes those of us do this for free? Would getting paid to exhibit yourself be an option if you didn't have to show your face?

Common themes so far: self esteem, art, a feeling of belonging.
