My Russian co-worker:

"We are like princess in tower waiting for rescue. We need to stop waiting. Climb down from tower, kill dragon, get man."

Uhm..are you female?

I've never specified my gender on these forums, but it's always interesting to see how different people read me.

In that particular case, co-worker's "we" was a mixed group. She was talking about being proactive in the workplace, not literally about princesses or finding a partner.

That you start to not even have to Google anymore.

I just typed "stingray killed" and the answer was already in autocomplete.

(Yes, I know, because the letters are still sent to Google...)

bah, now you have me feeling nostalgic for the days when Steve Irwin was the public face of Australia.

Woohoo post #10

The person ahead of me paid for my coffee and my usual Batista drew a smiley face on the lid.

Its the little things that help :)

I was up at 4am the other night (cold + caffeine + cold meds = screwy sleep cycle). Ms. MediumSizedCat fell asleep inside my dressing gown. Then she started twitching in the throes of some mysterious kitty dream. So cute.

My aunt runs a monthly film group. Nice people, mostly in their sixties and seventies; I'm the youngest member by more than ten years. Next month it's my turn to choose the film, and my aunt has sent me a list of coming attractions to choose from.

One of them is a Tom of Finland biopic. SOOOO tempted.

If it's the Finnish one, sadly it's not that great. It's made through an extremely heterosexual lense, the acting leaves something to be desired, and it very much erases sex and is super prim and proper which is weird considering the nature of his art.

It's not a horrible film, but there are issues with it for sure.

I could watch it with my dad who turns 70 next week, it's not a very scandalous movie at all. :)

What made me smile is my daughter talking about her workouts the past two days. She works at a Physical Therapy group as she wants to go into PT. She has been through so much of it that it makes sense for her. They teach classes that the people that work there can take during work for free and get paid while in the class. She is a physical beast, all 5'2" and 115 pounds. She could have been a professional ballerina, but quit ballet to focus on track and soccer and finally quit track. She now plays soccer at a prestigious college program. So it's keeping her in shape and getting her stronger, and she loves telling me how she just rips the other women in terms of strength and conditioning. She outlifts women much bigger than her. Men too.

Found a pretty crochet pattern that I'm going to try. I'm thinking I need to learn to knit. All the patterns I absolutely love are knitted.

Huh, that seems a bit pointless for a Tom of Finland film!

Looks like I have a clash that night anyway. Oh well.

I've officially lost 5lbs and fit into my clothes again. I feel so damned happy to have control of my eating habits.
