What Made You Smile Today, v6

I want to like this post, but I hate cheesecake... I am conflicted.
I am aware I am a minority, but- same.

Cheese does not taste good with sweet things, is my position.

I also hate the specific kinds of cheeses commonly used in cheesecake, so.... you can dress it up with other, tastier things, but I still taste the thing I don't want to taste.

Sorry cheesecake fans...

It's similar to my reaction to alcohol for me.

On my 21st birthday, my roommate took me out to a bar to drink at last.

I tried it, tasted like unflavored mouthwash, couldn't even swallow.

So we tried fruitier and sweeter drinks, with less and less alcohol in it, but you put a drop in there I start to taste it.

And my position was, the drink would taste better without it.

I couldn't stomach enough of it to ever get a buzz, so I've literally never experienced a positive effect of alcohol. So I haven't drank more than a mouthful of alcohol for 21 years now. Double the drinking age.

I just can't get past the taste and I can taste it too much. Same with anything else I don't want to eat that has a flavor. Stuff like boring old baked potatoes can be dressed up and dont have much flavor, but with cheese or alcohol, you can't hide the flavor from me.

Makes me sound like a baby, if I could replace my taste buds with ones that loved everything, I would.

I would hang out with coworkers in bars with an empty beer bottle filled with soda because people get really opinionated about you if you don't drink with them.

Not a fan of the peer pressure, I did what I could to fit in, but yeah. Even if I tolerate everyone around me drinking I am rarely welcome being the one person not drinking.

Don't know why that is, but I'm neurodivergent, most things people do don't make a ton of sense to me.

Kinda with you on this - give n me a virgin bloody Mary over a mixed on 9 out of 10 times. I have pushed through it on several occasions- but don’t get the crush on bourbon or whisky - straight drinks … nah.
