what outfits strike you when admiring a stranger?

My own person is generally more attracted to a woman who dresses as a traditional and relatively-conservative woman, rather than a woman who is trying to make a statement about this or that, or be the subject of a sexual advance....yes, a women who sports tight clothes, shows cleavage, tight pants, panty lines, tramp stamps, short shorts, and short skirts, might get my eyes, and even my fantasy activity for whatever purpose, but she will NEVER get me to ask her for a date!

In a man:
I admire the full-on business suit, but it has to be tailored to them. Great cut, navy blue or gray, cuff links, tie loosened to show that little triangle patch of skin. Swoon.

In a woman:
Heals and something that shows off legs or breasts, but not both at the same time. And if she has a great ass and shows it off, my fiance won't be the only one looking. :)

I was reminded of this yesterday when I was out doing some errands.

Distinct turn off:

What is it with this trend of guys/men wearing jeans/pants so baggy the waistband sags below the ass? Dude, I've no interest in the color boxers you've got on. Seriously, cover that shit up!

You don't have teenage boys, do you? It drives me nuts when my kids do this. Occasionally, I "pants" them just to piss them off.

Not quite yet. Give me a year or so.

I generally don't think of myself as the fashion police, but I gotta tell you: if this style is still around when my son hits that age, I'm definitely going to be putting the kibosh on it. That and tight, short, revealing clothing on my girls. I'm definitely not a fan of the "display your name and address" mentality.

I'm glad my husband is no longer a cop, but I sure miss the uniform!

One of my fall-semester students was a fan of this look. I got tired of looking at his underwear. Another student wore Stewie Griffin flannel PJ bottoms to class at least once a week.

College student fashions are--well, they're something.

love seeing women in skirts/dresses with some sexy high heels. it would be even better if i could see them in the heels and nothing else!

Interesting

I think that with men, my favorite is a t-shirt and jeans. I know that isn't very interesting but it seems so free, and ready for anything. perhaps build a house, or go on a hike.

For women, I'd have to say anything that suits her, and where she would look confident and at ease. Women who are out biking around in their little zip up polar fleece and bike pants.

I guess I don't have fancy tastes. I should develop more.

Females

Turn On:
I like it when girls dress like me. Admittedly, I dress like a douchebag-ette (baguette?) by pretending I have money. These are all nice styles, to me.

Turn Off:
Anything too frumpy or too sexy for casual wear. Too much makeup. Overdone hair.

Males

Turn On:
Nice jeans. Stylish shoes and shirt, but not over-the-top. I like a guy who looks put-together. Dressing well is simply about making the effort.

Turn Off:
Shorts, especially denim shorts. Unfortunately my fiance wears these all the time. Anything dirty or visibly stained.

It is so easy for an attractive woman to catch my eye that it would be easier to describe what totally turns me off:
The current fad of wearing the pajama bottoms and flip-flops out in public. The fleece material things. I'm sure that they are not actually labelled as PJ's, but that's what they are to me.

And guys: Get mommy to buy you some pants that actually fit. The current fad of wearing jeans that are so big in the waist that you have to hold them up with your hands is just retarded.

I always appreciate a sexily dressed, (but not out and out slutty), woman who obviously takes pride in her appearance.
Don't like twigs or the obese, and both are made worse when their fashion sense doesn't match the physicality.
Two personal peeves are teenage girls, (as in underage), wearing the latest streetwalker fashions and women wearing styles that don't suit their bodies.

Oh, and love high heels and tight jeans or skirts.

God I hate that!! I used to think it was bad when dumbass kids wore their hats backwards, well that little ditty progressed to being sideways and cocked, which has gone to oversized (to match the clothes ) with a brim that's been ironed flat.

The bright side of the pants around their knees is that they can't run from the cops when they've just knocked over the corner stop-n-rob. :D

I think as men get older

I think that as men get older, the higher up they pull their waistbands.

By the time most men are 40, the waistband should be comfortably at the waist. Unfortunately, sometimes it keeps going up.

The hat thing doesn't bother me as much as the pants thing. Makes me wanna tap 'em on the shoulder, hand 'em some cash and tell 'em to buy a belt.

Just you wait, 'enry 'iggins, just you wait. <G>

It drives me crazy too, but there are bigger battles to fight with teenagers. Although if I had girls, no way in hell would they go out the house wearing that tight, skimpy stuff.

That's not always so. For example, I wear the same waist size pants as I did in high school. I just wear them a little lower down.

It makes me want to pull down their pants :D

Especially since learning some of them use safety pins to pin their pants to their boxers.

:p

Most of 'em have a belt on, but it's around their knees with the pants.

You're right, there are bigger battles, but the way I look at it is this, it's about respect, both self-respect and respect for those around you, particularly me if you're living under my roof. I would hope that I've taught my kids how to properly dress and take pride in that by the time they're able to dress themselves. The same thing goes for standing up straight and speaking with actual words, sentence structure, and intelligence.

This makes me recall an interview with Will Smith a few years back about why he didn't talk, rap, and dress all "ghetto". His response was "why would I want to sound or act ignorant?"

I'd rather run up behind them with a nail gun and tack those suckers up where they belong!

For very small number, I could see doing this. But for the majority? Nah - it'd make my eyes bleed.

This. I realize kids are gonna express themselves through clothing and stuff, but flashing the underwear just seems incredibly disrespectful, IMO. Unless I ask to see them, I have no interest in anyone's undergarments, tyvm.

Could be. Or maybe they personally don't think anything is wrong with it?

Still, I think they should recognize and appreciate what's appropriate for a given situation. Kind of like public kissing. I've no problem with a quick peck on the lips but if someone is fishing for tonsils, then for the love of little green apples - get a room!

LOL - There are even places where English completely disappears; in America they haven't used it in years!

Often, and this is the sad thing, their claim is "I can do whatever I want because I'm an individual" yada yada yada. In cases where they
But in a lot of cases, it is a lack of respect. And when you call them out on it, they claim that you are disrespecting them

I have no problems with PDA if it's done in a semi-secluded place (like in an alcove or corner); it's the blatant disregard for those around you that bothers me. The same thing with clothes. I have no problem with most of the fashions if it's semi-secluded (as in: I'm walking down a strip known for its clubs at night). I have a problem when others forces me to see them in plain sight, in the middle of the day.

Add sloppily dressed onto the list of what I don't like.

I never really thought of flashing underwear as disrespectful, but I suppose it is. I also think that the tension between generations is normal. I remember wanting to wear a ragged pair of old fatigue pants to the mall one time, and my mother wouldn't let me out the door. I went back into my room and put another pair of pants over them, which I took off in my friend's car. So, yeah, I was an idiot in my own way.

Much of what bothers me about the saggy pants-untied shoes look is its origin. It's about the jailhouse, where your belt and shoelaces are taken away. We have a problem when youth culture glorifies prison.

And btw, I do call my kids on the pants thing. My older one doesn't do that anymore. And since my younger one got a job at a local establishment whose redneck owner and customers would give him endless shit about that look, he's stopped too. Score one for cultural pressure.
