What scares you?

Yes! I love Alma! It's often used in schools to prompt creative writing. Wonderful animation.

I'll admit that as much as it freaked me out, I did enjoy it. For some reason it made me think of Jim Henson's "Witches" and the story of the little girl, that the grandmother tells at the beginning.

More creepy things...

  • Blythe dolls - I encountered a vintage one of these for the first time as an adult, at a Halloween party, and thought it was just a creepy, flat-faced doll. Then I noticed that she had a pull-string...so I pulled it! What could possibly go wrong?
  • Squirrels. Yeah. I wish I was joking.
  • This.

NO NO NO. Omfg, I forgot about those creepy ass Blythe dolls with the 70s print dresses. There used to be a Raggedy Ann doll at my grandparents' that had a dress with fabric almost exactly the same as that. She was relatively benign (enough that I'd co-opt her to keep me company at night in the scary/freezing cold room that my aunts used to sleep in), but the closet that she was kept in... I'd like to say that it was full of cool stuff, and I guess it was. All of the L. Frank Baum books in vintage print, a huge jumble of old late 1960s and 1970s toys. I'm sure a lot of that stuff was rescued from St. Vincent de Paul sales. ANYWAY, this is all leading to the first item on my next scary list!

- My grandparents had an actual root cellar, with a dirt floor and everything. (How?!! How was the water table not too high? This is a freaking mystery to me and now it's too late to really ask anyone, that house has been gone for years and my mom doesn't know either.) Very Irish, very poor, and very big on saving what they had. The upshot of it was that to go down and get toys to entertain myself, I had to creep past the door to that room. The ceiling light wasn't any great shakes, either, and sometimes Granddad would leave the door to the cellar open. I can still smell that room and the dirt. The thought of it today gives me the chills, and sometimes I'll capture some kind of scent memory standing in houses of a certain age... alsdlfsalfdlkasdlfj
- Rumpelstiltskin. The story always scared the hell out of me and still does. Robert Carlyle plays him on Once Upon a Time now and I still find myself being scared - but paying attention. (Keep hitting people with the walking stick, omg.)
- The opening theme to The Walking Dead! Yeeeeesh!
- Centipedes! Silverfish! Nononono.
- Lots of really horrible ways to die that I'm not going to enumerate here.
- Being forced to eat an onion like an apple. YES IT'S THAT BAD THEY'RE AWFUL.
- Disease-driven apocalypse scenario. Weirdly, war doesn't freak me out as much as disease. Who knows why?
- Pan's Labyrinth.
- Skyrim skeletons! Skyrim crypts! Skyrim ruins! Pretty much anywhere in Skyrim, because there's always the possibility you're gonna get your shit jacked.
- Paddy Considine. Then he goes off and does nice things, like Moloko's "Familiar Feeling" or Hot Fuzz and he's not so scary anymore. It's always in there, though! (Thankfully.)

I'll probably be back.

I'm so sorry! It had to be said! Especially the centipedes. :( I concur on the basement eye monster. Why does she eat the fucking food?!!

Ugh I DON'T know!!!

And it's not your fault, lovely. I blame Guillermo Del Toro!

Coincidentally, it's showing on tv right now ... but I don't want to be scared right now, so I quickly skipped over it ... I'm watching Breakfast at Tiffany's instead *nods* :)

I do too! I love him, though. The most adorable story I've ever heard was about the Japanese actress, Mana Ashida (she's 10), that played Rinko Kikuchi's character as a child. She couldn't pronounce his name so he gave her permission to call him Totoro. Arrrgh! It's too cute! There, that makes it less scary. I hope. :rose: There!

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!. That is too cute!

It was! She was pretty scared - I dunno if you've seen Pacific Rim, but her role was very intense. Made me really worried until it was over. But that made me feel a lot better!

Also, DON'T CLICK THIS. It's so scary, ARGH.

And now that link won't load for me anymore. Let me know if it does for anyone else. Except I guess I told y'all not to click it... well. Whoops.

It loaded for me. Creepy in an "Uncanny Valley" sort of way.

The "Rapture".

All the frigging posts on my facebook by Christians going on about this new 'Left Behind' movie.

The Dwarven Centaurions scare me the most, but not as much as they used to. When I first started with that game I was in some cave somewhere and had just killed the leader of this Falmer group when out of the fog (literally) comes this huge Centaurion. He killed me instantly and I constantly think about that when I have to fight them now.

We're agreed here, the idea freaks me out too.

Have you seen the series "The Leftovers", based on the novel by the same name?

Not so sure I want to see the movie. Besides I'd much rather have an excuse to watch Justin Theroux every week. :p

Having a root canal and of course, receiving a toothy blow-job. Shudder!

When you cut into a poached egg that's sitting on top of your toast and instead of lovely cooked whites coming out, that horrible clear goo spills out instead.

#barf

On a serious note, it actually repulsed me. It happened an hour ago and I'm still shuddering over it.
