We did our (hopefully) last grocery run of the year, today. I intended to just get a turkey breast, but there were no fresh ones to be had (and I'm a snob, I don't care for the texture of frozen turkeys). BUT there were fresh, small-ish, already-brined turkeys. I'm not of the brined persuasion, either, but Master has been hot to try it since we first discovered Alton Brown years ago. So, brined turkey it is! This will go down in the annals of our kitchen as the Great Christmas Compromise of 2015.
The menu is: roast brined turkey, baked ham, potato filling, roast brussels sprouts with bacon, cherry pie, and pumpkin pie. Not a big spread, but it's just the three of us.
