When It's Good, It's So So Good

Thank you Tsotha and P-poet. That was very kind.

I'm still available!

I actually tried to make my home over in the BDSM forum, but for some reason, the welcome wasn't near as warm as it has been here.

Well, this girl is no fighter and I am no fool. I go where I'm wanted. Of course you can keep me! ;)

I don't know, seems like you've got a little fight in you. I like puppies with some fight in them, they're much more fun to play with. Come curl up with the rest of us strays, or do I mean strange? A few of us snarl, but most don't bite. Oh, and pardon the droolers, lol.

*chuckles*

Oh, her? That's All_4_Can O'Whoop-ass. She's my alter ego (literally). I only open her up when I'm feeling really threatened. Her bark is way worse than her bite. She actually prefers to be the bitee instead of the biter. (wink wink)

lol...

I will gladly. Thank you for the warm welcome (or 2 or 3).

You're good people, Trix.

Funny, I'm just the opposite. My bite is much worse than my bark. Geena Davis in The Long Kiss Goodnight would be close. ;)

That is funny! I’m Birdie Pruitt, the character played by Sandra Bullock in Hope Floats. I keep waiting patiently for my Justin Matisse (Harry Connick, Jr.) to show up in my life, but what if he’s not a sadistic Dom?

Well, I guess it’s a good thing you can’t judge a book by its cover. Harry Connick, Jr. as a sadistic Dom? Yes please!

Alright, enough messing around. I promise I really do have other things to add to this thread besides idle chit chat! See the trouble we get into it when our minds start wandering? It's too much fun!

Ha, you should play on the three word challenge thread with us. I'll top to your bottom, lol.

And now, back to the poetry...

First of All, Leonard Cohen

First of all nothing will happen
and a little later
nothing will happen again
...
For no reason at all
you will begin to cry
Then your tears wll dry up
and you will ache for a companion
I will be that companion
At first nothing will happen to us
and later on
it will happen again

Ey, yi yi. What a description of depression! Or PMS, or a soulless relationship.

Dammit trix
That's one of my cohen faves
So i'm soulless?
And you can't top all our bottoms, you only have two hands, and one is always jabbering.
Love will have to wait her turn.

Hey I'm a master, I can do things sublime with these two hands, I'm ambidextrous don't cha know ;)

You soulless, no, I've seen your writing. Your relationships, only you can answer that.

The gut punch

Love Hurts, Nazareth

Love hurts, love scars, love wounds
And mars, any heart
Not tough or strong enough
To take a lot of pain, take a lot of pain
Love is like a cloud
Holds a lot of rain
Love hurts......ooh, ooh love hurts

I'm young, I know, but even so
I know a thing or two
And I learned from you
I really learned a lot, really learned a lot
Love is like a flame
It burns you when it's hot
Love hurts......ooh, ooh love hurts

Some fools think of happiness
Blissfulness, togetherness
Some fools fool themselves I guess
They're not foolin' me

I know it isn't true, I know it isn't true
Love is just a lie
Made to make you blue
Love hurts......ooh, ooh love hurts
ooh, ooh love hurts

Even when it's good, or maybe especially when it's good, yup, Love hurts.

Hurts so good. Oh baby, you make it hurt so good
Sometimes love don't feel like it should
C'mon baby, make it hurt so good

Devil Inside, INXS

Here comes the woman
With the look in her eye
Raised on leather
With flesh on her mind
Words as weapons sharper than knives
Makes you wonder how the other half die
Other half die

Here come the man
With the look in his eye
Fed on nothing
But full of pride
Look at them go
Look at them kick
Makes you wonder how the other half live

The devil inside
The devil inside
Every single one of us the devil inside

The devil inside
The devil inside
Every single one of us the devil inside

Here come the world
With the look in its eye
Future uncertain but certainly slight
Look at the faces
Listen to the bells
It's hard to believe we need a place called hell

As far as I'm concerned, heaven and hell are the same and here and now.

TBH English has TDM TLAs, but A2D, amirite? BTW, ADIDAS, if anyone cares.

Even the youtube music videos you post on the other thread are copyrighted. Nobody cares. We'll just pretend we're all in Sweden. Rock on, Mr. Mozart.

youtub. (I assume) has several collection agencies, that collect money from Ad's, so most current artists will receive something like 1/32 of a cent in royalties.
Or something like that, I am not 100% sure of the details.
Vevo etc.
That takes care of the viewing aspect.

Hello friends.

In keeping with the flow of lyrics and/or lyricists. One of my favorite lyricists is Billy Corgan, lead singer of the Smashing Pumpkins. The man is an absolute genius. There is nothing he doesn’t know about, politics, spirituality, music, business, science, psychology, philosophy, and on and on. He is an amazing musician who is hardly recognized for his talent. The man can play guitar like nobody’s business. AND, he is an amazing poet, also very much under recognized for his amazing talent. He even published a book of poetry not long ago.

What I love about his lyrics/poetry is that he has so much depth of mind and emotion. A lot of people just cannot even get him or his lyrics because they cannot relate, connect, or see that part of him (so sad, what’s our world coming to?)

This is one of my favorites. It is a love song, a very deep love song, from start to finish. So much meaning in these lyrics they take my breath away…

The Rose March
Billy Corgan/Smashing Pumpkins

Slow poked and crossed eyed
Pigeon-toed to the railroad ties
Hump-backed and sugar shacked
Shotgun wed to the poison of our past

A little longer, a little longer to go
You’ve a little longer, a little longer to go
I just can’t help say so

Can’t you see me?
Can’t you see me at all?

Inner-spaced and pie faced
You catch the moon, I’ll just stand here and run in place
Shell shocked and half cocked
The universe is full of black holes and anniversary knots

A little longer, a little longer to go
You’ve a little longer, a little longer to go

I’ll lay roses at your feet
Til you decide there is something great in you
I’ll lay roses at your feet
Til you decide there is something great in you

We’ve only just begun to grieve the space, the space
We’ve only just begun to grieve the space, the space

To me, this song represents unconditional love. When someone loves you so much that they are willing to continue loving you even when you’re not loving yourself.

All so breathtaking, such very beautiful lyrics. They leave my heart aching.

And here’s the song because it’s just too pretty not to share:

The Rose March - Smashing Pumpkins

Here's another favorite:

One Diamond, One Heart
Billy Corgan/Smashing Pumpkins

I’m not here to hold your hand
I’m just here to understand
If you’re feeling low- I can help

I’m always on your side
Forever near your light
I’m always on your side

However you must fight
Within your darkest night
I’m always on your side

Lovers as lonely as lanterns lost
Show me faith’s real cost

I’m always on your side
Forever near your light
I’m always on your side

Wherever you must fight
Within your darkest night
I’m always on your side

They won’t rush you from me
Cause here I’ll always be
I’m always on your side
Forever near your light

I’m not here to hold you down
I’m just here to love you when
Your stars align and you let me
and your heart win

I’m always on your side
Forever near your light
I’m always on your side

Lover, teach me sweet command
Show me where I land

I’m always on your side
I’m always on your side
Forever near your light
I’m always on your side

However you must fight
Within your darkest night
I’m always on your side

With evidence of trust
And eminence of love
I’m always on your side

Capitulate and fade
Resurrect and break
I’m always on your side

Forever in your light
I’m always on your side

Lover, light the way

To me, this song is about opening your heart and believing in someone after it has been broken, trusting, and the commitment therein, in every sense of the word.

The lines:

Lovers as lonely as lanterns lost
Show me faith’s real cost

Lover, teach me sweet command

Could there be any more beautiful of a portrait painted with words for the meaning of trust?

Here’s the song. It’s another pretty one:

Love, I thinks it comes down to voice and music style.
People love Leonard Cohen songs (myself included) as long as he's not singing them. I love Cohen as a poet but I can only say I enjoy him as a singer for two of his songs.

I don't care for Billy Corgan's voice or the particular music style of Smashing Pumpkins, though they do have two songs I like.
I'd be much more inclined to ready his lyrics/poetry.

I like most of the lyrics laid out below, I don't like the 'till'. It makes me question. So once the person he's speaking of sees it he'll stop? That does not speak of deep forever feelings to me.

Little things like that in poetry or prose stop me. I wonder, did they mean it or is it loose thinking? If they meant it, it completely changes my view and if they didn't I still think 'sloppy thinking'.

While I'm ripping apart a favorite of yours, please keep in mind, that's what I'm hoping everyone will do. Show how they see a piece, so we can all possibly gain new perspective.

This piece is new to me and good enough that I will look up his book. Listening to it though, I will continue to avoid listening to the Smashng Pumpkins.

I'm not familiar with these songs, lyrics, but they are beautiful, almost in a desperate way.
Trying to keep ships afloat.
When i get a quiet place, gonna listen to them.
Thanks for the share, love

Interesting perspective, Trix.

To me, I see it as unconditional love. I will keep on loving you and believing in you (til) meaning I will see you through until you see what I see in you, not that I will stop once you get there. How can I stop loving you once you love yourself if I can love you while you're not loving yourself?

Such a wondrous thing how the smallest of a difference in an interpretation can change it's whole entire meaning! I love that!

It doesn't bother me one bit that you ripped him apart. It's funny, because a lot of people do. I see a beautiful wounded soul. He's a remarkable person in my eyes, a true gift to the world.

And, yes, P-poet, he is a desperate soul, always has been from back to his childhood. That is what makes him so beautiful to me!

HW Longfellow is one of my favorite poets.
Why? I have no idea.
I don't even understand half of his stuff but I read it anyway.

A Psalm of Life
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.

Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.

Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
Is our destined end or way;
But to act, that each to-morrow
Find us farther than to-day.

Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.

In the world’s broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!

Trust no Future, howe’er pleasant!
Let the dead Past bury its dead!
Act,— act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o’erhead!

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;

Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o’er life’s solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.

Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.

The beautiful meaning of this gift we call life. The age-old question, what is the meaning of life? It's different for everyone but it's still finding the meaning in the journey, leaving something worthwhile behind. Hats off to Longfellow for being able to capture the journey the way he did in this piece of wonderful art.

One of my favorite parts:

Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.

Yes, indeed! The soul lives on.

I find it rather amusing that my all time favorite Nietzsche quotes is:
To live is to suffer. To survive is to find some meaning in the suffering.

*shrug*

I'm an oxymoron.
