Why do women like anal sex?

Perhaps you're correct that most women don't enjoy anal sex but I'm betting most would if:
  • She disabuses herself of the idea that enjoying anal sex is somehow shameful or humiliating. This MAY NOT be possible, depending on how deeply rooted these beliefs are and her determination to shed them.
  • She trusts her partner to LISTEN to her and proceed very very very slowly. If he's selfish and impatient, forget it. ..Wrong guy.
  • Pick the right time of day to do it so you're confident you're "empty" up there. Attempting anal sex of any sort (finger, plug, dick) 1/2 hour before your usual "go" time is a patently dumb idea. ..Better to do it an hour AFTER you go.
  • Gradually work up to the girth of your partners dick over the course of several nights, maybe even weeks if necessary. Begin with just a finger, then two, then a but plug, then a slightly bigger butt plug, etc.. And go SLOWWWWWW in all a cases and LOT's and LOT's of quality lube.
My dick is ridiculously girthy (6 1/4") and despite my wife being rather small, she has still succeeded in taking me anally. Did she enjoy it? Yes! But because working our way up to it requires so much foreplay it remains just a once in a great while kinda thing (we've done it only 4 or 5 times). ..But she LOVES her butt plugs and we use them almost weekly. And if my dick was of just average girth - ie., 4.7", about the same as her butt plugs - she'd probably take me anally every week or so.

I personally believe that to find anal sex pleasurable there needs to be a genuine interest and motivation to enjoy it. Lucky for me, my wife suffers from a bit of FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) so after seeing countless favorable references to anal sex in magazines (like Oprah and Cosmo), R-rated movies, etc... She decided that she wanted to enjoy it too so she was determined to give it a fair shot, including preparation and taking our time. But if she approached it with a negative attitude (ie., it's degrading, humiliating, dirty, immoral, etc etc.) but agreed to try it just to appease me.. Well, she most assuredly would NOT have enjoyed it.

So the question to ask oneself is this: Do you LIKE the idea of having a whole new "playground" and a bunch of associated activities to add to your sex life? If the answer is an enthusiastic YES! Then there's no reason you shouldn't be able to find a way to enjoy anal sex, even if it's just fingers, toys, rimming, etc.. But if the mere idea of anal sex repulses you for reasons that are deeply seated, well.... then there is no magical way of changing that. And that's fine b/c there's a million other ways to enjoy sex.

Well no.. definitely more of a supposition than a statement of fact. ..You got met there :)

But I do think my conjecture is supported by facts, which are:
  • There is a rise in the number of heterosexual women who are engaging in receptive anal sex. According to the NIH.gov website, 36% of heterosexual women ages 25-44 engage in it. Bear in mind this means there are far more straight women having anal sex than even gay men. To explain: 86% of gay men (which is only around 6% of all men) engage in it which is a MUCH MUCH smaller cohort than 36% of straight women.
  • Sex researchers and therapists assert that there are nerve endings in the rectum that some find very pleasurable when stimulated. This claim is certainly supported by those who’ve engaged in it and have enjoyed it - including straight men who enjoy being pegged (like me).
  • As time goes on people are shedding outdated notions that certain types of sex are inherently degrading and humiliating. Less than 100 years ago, giving a man head was considered just that - humiliating and degrading. Even doggie-style was perceived that way by most. These days, few people, apart from religious zealots, hold such ridiculous beliefs.
  • Homosexuality is becoming increasingly accepted around the world - especially in the West. It's perceived as a natural (for some) and unchangeable sexual orientation. Consequently, there is less demonizing of the sexual acts that gay men are presumed to engage in, including anal sex (though not all do... something like 86%).
  • Many of the failed and painful first attempts at anal sex are haphazard and not as recommended by sex experts and therapists. The typical first attempt probably goes something like, "ok honey, put lube on your dick then stick it in..," followed by, "OOOOOWWWW! PULL IT OUT, PULL IT OUT!!" This doesn't have to be. Again and again sex therapists assert that receptive anal sex should be pain-free if simple steps are followed, most importantly using lots of lube AND GRADUALLY working up - over days or weeks - to a full size dick. Begin with just finger tip, then another, etc... etc etc. ..There are even kits of 5-6 butt plugs of increasing girth to help with this. Point being: As more people (inc. women of course) are introduced to anal sex the PROPER way, the more it will be enjoyed and practiced.
Does this mean that MOST women will one day enjoy and engage in frequent anal sex? Who knows... But it certainly means more will than do today... So to assert, as you do, that it's "only in men's fantasies that women enjoy anal sex" is wrong, imho.

My question is how many threads are needed to ask women if they like anal? Only one gf flat out refused, and another wanted to try but we never got around to it. All the others either liked it already or tried it and liked it. I don't see why it's such a mystery.
