Why is Anonymous allowed to rant?

Registered voting & feedback

I agree, though, that it would be a better site if you had to register both to vote and comment publicly. Those who want to get their kicks out of anonymous skewering could still send you a private e-mail and PM to get their kicks.

The quality of the Web site would only be enhanced by making both the voting and the public commenting responsible, I think. If the voting rate average came down, it might actually start to approach the more realistic and believable.

I agree too, there are not many sites that allow comments and votes from people who aren't members. Registering helps weed out people who aren't genuinely interested in the site and who just want to have a go at someone for their own ends.

I'm sure that you can post anonymous comments when you are a member anyway, but either way, at least it would be possible to remove members if enough complaints were made about their comments.

As for the voting, I have always found it odd that the average score is over 4. Maybe 'registered only voting' will achieve more realistic result. As it is now, voting 5 on an average story will raise the score and voting 4 will decrease the score. It seems a little black & white to me.

I got a comment from Anonymous on one of my stories chewing me out for calling "it" names in a comment I made defending another's story. It was weird. He said that I should be nicer to people after he had flamed the poor author up one side and down the other and told me that everyone was entitled to their own opinions . . . except for me, I guess. The strangest part was the last line telling me that he had a Ph.D. Like . . . so? In what, from where? Odd chappie that Anonymous.
