Why is my story still pending?

Not at all. I'm not trying to make the thread about anything, ...
You quote sr71plt as saying "And so you want to make the thread about me now, I take it.". Are you not aware that in the mind of sr71plt every thread on here is a direct attack on her/him?

On the matter of my quotes from MG, I do apologise to anyone (other than sr71plt, whom I still have on [ignore]) who was offended by my attempt to introduce a little humour into a thread which had been answered.

I am also truly sorry, fieryjen, that you have been drawn into the ever-increasing gang of people whose lives are spent trying to "get at" sr71plt.

Memo to self:- look up 'paranoia' in the dictionary.

Don't worry about it. I know what he's like. I was just bantering a bit. :)

It's fun to see all the wallpaper wasted to cover up bad behavior. :)

And it's equally fun to see all of the convolution Snooper gets into to assess and make judgments about someone on ignore--got to be the most active "watching" of an ignoree since Cloudy. :D

So, dragging the thread back on-topic... :p

This is actually on topic but not anything to do with the current discussion. As I read this I wonder if the author submitted it in a format that needs to be reformatted to be posted on the site. I know it takes up to a month for my illustrated stories to be submitted. That could be the reason - he didn't just cut and past the story into the box.

It could be. I've also heard that new authors have to wait a little longer, and the OP (whose name I have forgotten) mentioned that it was his first story.

Wow...I didn't expect my question to start such a discussion. I appreciate all those who have given helpful responses. My story has yet to posted (going on three weeks now). It wasn't anything special as far as illustrations go and I just cut and pasted the text into the box.

So I'll go track Laura down and send her a friendly pm to check in and see what's going on.

Thanks again y'all.

Think it best that you ask, yes. Let us know how it turns out--because it could happen to any of us.

No, I think you were right. I've posted over 300 stories and it's never been more than a week to post even during contests.

If it's taken two weeks and the pending button wasn't punched during that time, I think it's quite legitimate to ask about it--and not to receive snide comments for doing so.

I agree to disagree. There have been times when I have *patiently* waited for more than two weeks, and even contacted Laurel to figure out why, and she more than graciously explained that she was behind.

I'm not sure what you are disagreeing with. I wasn't suggesting that Laurel was snide.

It would be strange if Laurel was that much behind on only one story and it wouldn't still be a case of that story being overlooked. I've submitted and had a story post within five days during this now-three-week period. And no one else has complained about stories taking this long to post.

What's so consipiratorial--or even evil--about a story posting simply falling through into the cracks?

Jeez guys! Let it drop!

Hopefully Sam got the PM to the right place and it's resolved. Quit picking on each other. You're being silly.

You're lopsided and your mother dresses you funny. :cattail:

All I was trying to convey was that in my experience, there have been times that I've waited for up to 3 weeks for a story to be accepted. And I've noticed that this is particularly true around the time of popular contests. I'm rather surprised with you having submitted more than 300 that you haven't noticed similar experiences.

And I would prefer that you don't try to read more into my comment than what it is.

Okay, going away now...

I did, thanks. I sent Laurel a friendly PM and haven't received a response yet, but it's only been a day or two (and a long holiday weekend) so I'll wait until the end of the week and let you all know what has happened.

Samuel, you need to go to your User CP and turn on private messaging. Right now, Laurel can't reply to you.

The messaging options can be found under the "Edit Options" heading.

If Samuel sent Laurel a PM, then they must be able to reply to him - PMs switch on/off as a complete duplex comms system.

When I went to send a PM to Laurel I was told that I had to change my settings in my User CP to accept PMs from other people. I did as I was instructed and it has been set to accept PMs since then. I just rechecked and it is set that way now.

If you've tried sending me a PM and it didn't work, that is definitely strange.

This is the message that shows when I tried to send you a PM just now. Double-check your settings. Something isn't correct yet.

Samuel667 has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her.

Lynn,
Thanks for the help. I went back and looked. I had checked the box labeled "Enable Private Messages" but I had also checked the box for "Receive Private Messages only from Buddies and Moderators". I unchecked that last box, so hopefully that will solve the problem.

But of course Laurel is a moderator so I'm not sure why her PMs, assuming she has sent them, haven't reached me. But this may explain why yours and others have been blocked.

Again, thanks.

There's definitely something going on here Sam. I submitted a story earlier this week and it has already been approved. Either they're holding your story for some reason or you didn't submit it correctly. There is no back-up. :)

Well, I received a response from Laurel. Here's the issue. Unbeknown to me at the time there is a ban on stories of a political nature. I guess there were bunch of people, during the Democrat primary campaign, who were submitting political rants for and against Obama and Hillary as stories. So Lit banned all stories with political themes/characters.

My particular story wasn't a rant and wasn't "anti" any candidate. It merely contained a sex scene between one of the candidates and his spouse. However, in order to not run afoul of their ban on political stories the Lit editors decided to hold my story until after the election is over so they won't get a bunch of people complaining that my story got posted while theirs didn't.
