Yes, the top 1% DOES pay it’s fair share (and then some!)

Trump wants to cut taxes for the rich and corporations.

Why are you trying to pretend that simple facts aren’t true?
Relax. Not only the rich. He wants to extend the tax rates for ALL brackets, including yours (if you pay income taxes)

But it does keep the debate somewhere away from the basic question we should be asking, why are we doing this to ourselves? All we do is empower the worst in us in the name of giving to the worst among us.

What we can do is give them an opportunity.

Alms enslave.

Most don't even know that the whole idea behind the income tax is rooted in "The Communist Manifesto."

To ish:

Better yet, under the FairTax.org, they would not only voluntarily contribute, but receive a monthly "stipend..."
The Fair Tax is definitely worthy of discussion but the tax legislation debate in 2025 will be all about extending the TCJA rates, along with some other tax cuts Trump has floated. The Fair Tax has been proposed every year since 2005 and never goes anywhere. It’s not going anywhere next year either.

I know.
It takes patience.
That is the one thing martial training imparts...

Polish the stone; there's a real gem in The Jade Matrix.

What is so difficult about understanding the tax act?? Why does the left insist on punishing success? Corporations create jobs, lower the corporate tax rate and corporations stay stateside. Lower capital gains tax and increase venture capital to invest in new businesses opportunity.

What's his plan for that?
The WH will send its tax proposal to Congress. It is expected to include extending current individual rates along with some other tax proposals Trump wants, such as raising the SALT cap and exempting tips, social security, and over time income. The president-elect has also proposed additional reductions in the corporate rate so we can expect that as well.

Leadership in both chambers will draft bills. Even though the GOP has majorities, it will be a contentious process. It’s doubtful Trump will get everything he wants. For example I doubt he’ll get the “no tax on tips, SS, and OT.” The extension of current rates for individuals should have broad bipartisan support in most if not all brackets. Even Biden supported extending all but the top bracket.

You have to look at the effective tax rates and the impact on tax receipts. When marginal rates were in the 90% range, reported taxable income was dramatically lower. Tax avoidance is legal and by design. The US tax code is more progressive today than it ever was a half century ago.

False. Laughably false.

“Tax cuts for the rich” and corporations isn’t shorthand for anything. It’s a simple fact that you are desperately trying to deny. 😆
Yep, greed and envy are alive and well. You'd think the money was coming out of their pockets.

So Trump’s promises that would help low-income people won’t happen? I think you’re correct that Republicans will not make those happen.

Tax cuts for the rich and corporations will get priority. 😄

Hell, i'ma lookin' forward to my tax cut. Motherfuckers' hands been too deep in my pockets for too long.

Motherfuckers!!!

I see the word "plan" tripped you up.

The irrefutable fact ignored by the op is that the bottom 20% of taxpayers pay so little that it costs more to collect than it is worth. If these people were taken out of the system these poorest people would spend all of their additional funds which would help both the economy and the top 1% through increased economic activity.

Unfortunately following Trumps previous tax cut vastly disproportionate funds accruing to the 1% were not invested in new economic activity, but largely went into government bonds to finance further government spending and debt payments.

A major problem for all first world economies is the number of companies that warehouse most of their profits in tax havens eg Google, Facebook, Apple and many others.

My god, how insipid.

You cannot spend what you don't have. Those with little to no income PAY NO TAXES because they have little to no income. These people cannot "stimulate" the economy because they don't have any money to do it with.

The kicker is that somewhere in the back of my mind a little voice is whispering that you're going to come back and tell me that these people should get a gov subsidy and they can use that for your stimulus idea.

Which is just more insipidness piled on top of your hair brained financial offering.

And very few understand the lesson of Robin Hood.

Robin Hood did NOT steal from the rich and gave it to the poor. Robin stole illegally confiscated taxes from the government and returned said taxes to the taxpayers.

Robin Hood was a thief and should have received the justice all thieves deserve.

As you show, the spin is real.. whether rich people pay the majority of the revenue that the IRS collects is not the same as the rich paying their "fair share"

The burden of taxes on the lower classes is the issue. The percentage of income being collected for taxes is the issue. The rich simply find ways to avoid paying because loopholes let them.

Lower classes don't have the same loopholes and therefore pay more as a percentage of their income.

We’d all love to hear how people pay “no taxes”.

This is even more stupid than anything I've seen so far this morning.

"The Rich" contribute approx 22% to the value and growth of the economy yet pay approx 44% of the taxes.

How is that not obviously disproportionate and unfair? Is it that you believe that making our tax system even more disproportionate somehow makes it more "fair?" For whom? The little guy is already taking advantage of the unfair tax brackets to pay less or nothing in the way of taxes. Making it more unfair isn't going to change that, he's still going to be paying less or nothing just like he always has.

THE difference that you can't seem to understand is that he's not going to be earning more because that raise he was counting on is now being given to the IRS. And to cover some of the additional costs (like the employer portion of FICA) the cost of goods and services the little guy produces from his labors are going to go UP. So, no raise, higher cost of living, and "The Rich" give more money to the gov to waste on killing pet squirrels and raccoons.

Honestly, just stop being so dam stupid for one day and you'll see that much of what you spew here is worthless lies.

The discussion of what they contribute as a percentage of revenue is not the same thing as the percentage of how people experience paying taxes.

This is like Democrats telling people that inflation is low so people are fine.
