Yes, the top 1% DOES pay it’s fair share (and then some!)

Which is why I clearly said the bottom 20% of tax payers need to be taken out of the system. So good to know an eagle eyed lawyer is reading the documents. :D

Lol, so those who pay no taxes aren't "taxpayers" merely because they don't "pay?" That's your argument?

Lol, again. It's interesting to see that you choose to die on the hill of stooopid.

They can choose not to buy.

It's not a direct tax on one's property or labor (the means of production) and that's what makes it arguably the most liberal way to tax. And since everyone is paying the same rate on whatever consumption they desire it's also the fairest. No wonder the very notion triggers Democrats.

This is why some states chose to use property taxes instead of sales taxes to generate revenue.

You can get out of paying sales taxes by not buying goods, but you can't get out of property taxes even by renting.

It's Tues., you get to be Wat, and Wat gets to be you. I have to pretend to be some random, unsuspecting, victim just to see if the genius detective can figure out who. :D

That's why the brutal iron fist of the velvet glove wielding the government axe employs 10,000 paper cuts...

Geebus, it's 2024 (almost 2025) and you're still trying to go old skool.

You wanna inflict max pain/suffering on someone? Create a device which emits harmful radiation and then convince society at large to buy it and use it on themselves.

You know, like Smart Phones and ear buds and TV screens...

Hey, how's about sending me the memo next time.

Damn it!!!

No one likes an axe murderer, Lizzie. I mean if you're going to do it, ya gotta be creative instead of being a troglodyte.

It will surprise no one here that Wat has a weapon at the front door and the back door. The surprise is what it is. If you guessed "axe," then you'd be correct in each case.

Because it's gonna leave a mark . . . .

Or the optional WDS.

It’s amazing how uninformed some of the left wingers on this board are. Trump’s “no tax on tips, social security, and overtime” pledges have been covered extensively during and after the campaign. If you’ve been under a rock, a quick search would have returned plenty of citations. Here’s one.

I will on record as predicting none of the three "concepts" above will every become law. Period.
Care to go on record with your unambiguous prediction?
Remember, the Rs hold the Senate, House, Presidency and the Supreme Court.
Should be easy-peasy right?

See my post #37. I don’t believe tips, SS, or OT should be exempted from tax and I strongly doubt any of those proposed exemptions will be passed by Congress.

The top 1% get most of their income from stock options, without income tax. But that may become a moot point as corporations die off.

Those who produce value get to make more....that's how it's supposed to work. This isn't the SOVIET States of America comrade.....equity of life outcomes isn't the objective here.
The working poor are my concern. They play the game by the rules but win none of the prizes.

You don't have a hidden pit at the back door?

Piss-pot punji at the bottom?

Seems like saying that so you can stick your hands into the pockets of the rich is the actual concern.

Economics and personal finance aren't a participation trophy sport......why do so many lefties think it is???

Playing by the rules doesn't guarantee a prize, it just means you won't be punished. You have to make successful exchanges with others and manage your money well.

Speaking of which, very few play the game by the rules. Most don't have any rules and are TERRIBLE with what money they do have. Most of the people I've met who are "broke" make decent money....they're just DOG SHIT with it.

If intelligence plays an important role in how well we do in life, and intelligence is conferred on a person through a combination of genetic and environmental factors over which that person has no control (as we argue in the book) the most obvious political implication is that we need a Rawlsian equalitarian state, compensating the less advantaged for the unfair allocation of intellectual gifts.
