suuuuuure... pinpoint last time. :p

okay, so i'm to keep my eyes open for a loose giraffe? i swear this is the craziest place i've been. :D (well, nearly.)

Just give me a few minutes.

WSO!! That's just mean, callin' the giraffe a tramp like that!! Just 'cause he is a gay giraffe does not make him a tall spotted creature of loose moral fibre.

Okay, and with that, my work is done and I must go sleep and try to restore sanity again. :)

WSO you are a sweetheart and one of the nicest people 'round these parts. Sorry I missed your birthday, btw. I hope it was everything you deserve and more. :rose: Ange, how cute you call it 'rubbing his feet' ;)

If anyone brings grumpiness, lameness or bitching of any shape or size to this thread, I am personally handing you over to the horny gay giraffe. Don't think I won't do it, either.

Ange, you can let the giraffe go now.

Honey, he was out cold by the time I got to his ankles. :D

The ungrateful bastage. I even used my high-rent Brazilian Nut and Shea Butter Intensive moisturizer on his old piggies. He smells real good though. lol.

It was more like toeing and snoring. The silver lining is he'll wake up really early.

I'm off to poem.

whew, i'd hate for you to get damaged on your first visit.

"damaged" is a prerequisite for these threds, are they not? lol

No. Really YOU need to give it a rest once in a while and not be forever so combative. It's not good for the forum. It's certainly not good for me.

I want to write poetry. That's why I'm here. How many poems have you written compared to the number of posts you've written attempting to prove you know more, have more staying power, arguing power, whatever than the other guy? What do you get from that?

Wouldn't you be happier writing poetry? If not, why are you here?

Oh. It's not about YDD. Not to me.
We could always do a ratio; posts/poems

I'm a nice person, so I'll say this nicely. I just got home from work. I want to relax, read and write some before I go to bed. I don't want to fight. That's unproductive to me.

I wasn't disrespectful to you and I expect to be treated in kind--your language in the other thread was uncalled for. If you can't deal with me respectfully, I'll put you on ignore. I don't need the hassle.

This is really good, coming from someone who quotes Chomsky - you'll out me on ignore? How many PM's did you get last year, 5-6, some as responses. Rest assured I'll be a lot less chatty this year.

Thank you for your comment on my poem; I really do appreciate that you took the time to read and comment.

What I said about ignore was actually not intended to avoid your PMs (though ignore does block them), but rather to block your posts. I find myself spending way more time than I want to reading posts here that seem much more angry and personally combative (and often downright nasty) than called for on a forum where the focus should be supportive discussion of writing. That detracts from the way I want to spend my time here: reading, writing, relaxing and having a few larfs. If I were more disciplined I just wouldn't read them, but I'm not so the ignore function may be a better choice for me.

My original post that so offended you was not directed at you or your YDD comment, which was innocent and complimentary (to her). It was more an overall reaction to how I feel the tenor of the forum has changed to one that is too often centered around negativity and epithet tossing. Yes that has happened here in the past, but not--imo--anywhere near the extent it does now. It has changed the forum.

And as I said before that is simply my opinion, which I have a right to express as you do yours. It was not intended as a starting point for (to put it in a kindly way) debate.

I often enjoy reading your posts and find many of your comments to be very insightful--with a degree of observation (at least of my poems) that few people have. I wouldn't like to give that up, but when I spend the bulk of my time here reading and reacting (whether I respond or not) to arguments, I lose what I want this place to give me.

When I say I mean something respectfully, I do. There is no sarcastic subtext. And I do say respectfully that you should not take my comments so personally unless I obviously direct them at you. I regret that I got snippy in a few of them: that's not my style, but I was feeling low that day and the culmination of many arguments that I have seen here in past months pushed me to respond to you in a tone I prefer to avoid. For the sake of poetry and peace on the forum, I think you should let it go.

So that's it: all I have to say on the subject. I want to go write poetry now.

Make sure you make a note of this post and what it said so you can sue for libel later

Oh, man, and I thought this thread was headed for something decent and ridiculous, not oppressive and ridiculous.

....."Arguing on the internet is like winning a gold medal...."

GAWD, CAN'T YOU SHITSACKS DO ANYTHING BUT BITCH AT EACH OTHER?!

"Ooh, You said something vaguely contradictory, in a completely different context... I'm going to hump that idea into the ground with a cold, clay weener!"

YOU MAKE ME SICK.

~R
Yeah, yeah. Fuck you, too. In advance.

Shhh. Calm down. I was just trying to explain myself. I could have kept my mouth shut, but I wanted to try.

And you know it's not worth getting sick over. :)

Heh. It's not that bad, it's just...

You're right, you know, Ange? You nailed what this should be about and people are so attached to crap that doesn't matter, 'hesaidshesaid' and everything is pointed fingers and foolish fucking shit.

I called in to work, last night, probably at the cost of my job, just so I could go to a poetry reading. And it feels like the smartest thing I've done in months.

I want people here to know what I mean, is all, and it makes me so irritated to see this kind of bickering.

Being an asshole is as much self defense as anything.

So how was the reading? Did you read? Are you happy with the way it went?

I predict you will not lose your job--if only because most large companies are too cheap to invest in training someone new if they can avoid it. :D

I went to listen, and it was wonderful.

I don't care if they fire me, or not. I'm so done with that place, it's not even funny.
