When I'm bottoming, I couldn't care less what I'm tied up with, or if I'm even tied up at all. Bondage is fine, but it's not the main focus of my bottoming experience. So whatever's quick and easy's fine with me.

I second the reccomendation for Jay Wiseman's "Erotic Bondage handbook".
Beyond covering knots and positioning, it covers the best kinds of rope to use, caring for your ropes and safety. A definite must have for anyone interested in rope bondage.
My personal choice is a good leather cuff, a small but effective lock, and as much rigging (quick links, D-Ring, etc) as needed to gain the posture desired.
My wife/pyl has a condition called SPD (Sensory Perception Disorder) which causes her to seek sensory input in the strangest of ways. She's very distracted by things that would never affect someone else. If a scene is going to go well, then I need to pay very careful attention to the subtlest of things.
