Your first vacation together

I bet you're going to have a fabulous time...I'm jealous! :D

Do you think about exes a lot when you're doing the same with your current man? I might have a memory once in awhile, but find each experience to be new and different because we have a unique relationship, chemistry, and perspective.

Remember he's taking YOU on the trip with good reason: He wants to spend time and create memories with the woman he loves, not relive the past.

Clear your mind of any worries, have a great trip, and be sure to tell us all about it! :rose:

 Thanks, Erika.

And that's a great perspective. I don't ever think of exes - I'm just enjoying our time together, even if it's something I've done with someone else...yes, good point! :D

maybe it's just me

I have had three diffferent relationships end after our first vacations together...Thanks for making me think about it. If it had just happened once I might think it a fluke, twice a possible problem, but thrice? I obviously am a bad travel partner, or I didn't know them well enough to travel with them.
My advice is go with little or no expectations of how it will turn out. Lower expectations, less disappointment.

Three relationships! I don't think I've ever lost any boyfriends, friends or relatives after traveling with them, and I sure hope I don't start now...

btw Norajane, we also have had somegreat vacations too. Before we got married we spent a week at Lake George in NY. Although now that I think about it, we went to this amusement park place called The Great Escape because my wife loves to go on rides. I used to like rides, at least until that day. We got there shorty after they opened and when we left, there wasn't another car anywhere near our in the parking lot. I swear my face was green when I got off that fucking viking ship ride.

Alright, I know. We took the kids to Disneyworld in 97. We hadn't done anything like that before. And we didn't get out much before that either since we had only used a babysitter twice (both disasters). But this trip was something new for us. We ate every meal for a week at restaurants, and it opened up a whole new world for us as a family. Since then, we try to make it a habit to get out to dinner as a family at least every other month. :)

Well, thank goodness there's at least one Scaly & Mrs. Scaly vacation that didn't end in a trip to the doctor! :D

That is a fun idea!

Our first vacation together, my b/f asked me to go camping with him. I didn't camp for years so I was a bit concern when he told me it will be wild camping without bathroom or showers but it would be by a wonderfull lake.

The site was incridibly beautiful. I am a nature person who shed a tear easily on beauty. The first night, he wanted to impressed me with his cooking talents. So, he is putting potatoes on the camp fire to cook them. Wanting to turn them, he asked me to give him a hand. As I turn them, they fell on the ground ( they were not well wrapped in the foil paper). He is getting all wround up and is blaming me for not turning them the right way! I am getting upset but don't say a word just thinking for myself that this relation is not going to be long....

But then, the stars shines up in the sky, he apologize for being such an ass.... and start to kiss me all over my body.

2 years later, we are still together. We even have decided to start to live together not long after... Sometimes what looks like starting bizarre can drive you into something very meaningfull and powerfull as it did for us!
Each and every day, I am grateful for having him in my life!

Thank you for making me think back about this! I hope you will have a wonderfull time together! :rose:

Chalk another one up for Disney - it's not just for kids anymore! :D

Norajane,

I probably should mention that the first camping vacation we had was not our last.

Although there was a gap of several years that we did not camp when our kids were real little, we have spent at least one week camping as a family every year since 1993 (and some years as much as 3 weeks). And again this year, all of our kids (even my 21 yo) will be with us. there are several things we do every year that have become rituals.....like cooking lobster pie on the campfire the first night, tin foil dinners, cooking donuts in a dutch oven on the campfire (this is heavenly when your camping) and of course the baked potato-fest we always have the last night of the week (this started one year because all we had left for food was potatos and nobody felt like making the 1 1/2 drive to get more food).

wow, this brought back some great memories. :)

:)

Camping sounds nice when you talk about it like that - I especially like the baked potato fest...but I think I'll insist on vacations with hotels, just the same. :D

Last summer while we were camping, there were a couple days that were really hot. We had a waterfront site, and there was a nice breeze over the water, but the breeze wasn't getting into the campsite.

I spent those afternoons like the picture below.

Yes, I hear you! We go camping each and every summer since that first time! My b/f is always saying that nothing beats a camping breakfest I have to agree with him! Specialy because HE is cooking them! :D

We always find a place by the water. We even look for places that you can reach only that way because we have a little 16' run about. That way you find sites were you can be all alone...and skin dipping is always fun

Here you have a little taste of our last trip last summer! Was wonderful! Who would have think I would get back to camping after all those years!

Wow,

your picture looks very similar to the place I go every year, and they have remote sites, too!

18 miles of lake with one campground and about 30 to 40 cottages total. my kind of place.

I hear you! I would never go camping in those groups sites where everybody is park like in a city!
I like to enjoy the sunset, the stars, the sightseing and some fishing with my love!

I'm back from Mexico and, wow, this was the most romantic, sexy vacation I've ever been on! :cathappy:

After my mad scramble to finish packing and get to the airport, I had plenty of time en route to get into vacation mode in my head. By the time I reached Cozumel and felt the warm sunshine last Saturday, I had mostly turned off all the work thoughts and stresses, and was more than ready for some margaritas!

I arrived at the hotel first and was thrilled to find they had put us on the ground floor on the inside of the courtyard, but slightly to the side where there were all these lush plants just outside the balcony. We had easy access to the pool, but without all the noise. Some of the palm trees hadn't fared well in last fall's hurricane, but they were on their way to recovery, and the hotel structure seems not to have suffered much damage overall. Even better, the king size bed felt like it had a comfy new mattress... :D

I snagged a margarita from the pool bar and started unpacking right away - I thought I might have enough time for a dip in the pool before T. arrived. Normally, I'm fairly conservative when it comes to clothing, but my sister and I had gone shopping the weekend before, and she had insisted I buy some cleavage baring suits. Looking in the mirror after I slathered on the sunscreen, I kept trying to adjust the top to cover a little more skin, but finally gave up and headed outside. Alas, I never made it to the pool, as right then, T and I met in the corridor and immediately went back to the room to take off my new cleavage-baring bathing suit. :catroar:

We had arrived in the midst of Mardi Gras celebrations, which meant that when we walked into town for dinner in the evenings, we had parades and music and costumed crowds as an exciting contrast to the dark ocean beyond the shore. Our vote for best float was the Sol beer dancing girls - their sexy gold costumes matched the color of the beer, and they put their hearts (and t & a :D ) into their dancing. :nana: (T. took some pictures of the girls - I'll post when I get them).

The town is much calmer and quieter when it's not Carnaval, but either way, it's very romantic. Or maybe it just seemed that way because T. and I were holding hands everywhere we went, and decided we were probably having better sex than 99.9% of the people on the island. :D

I did go out on the dive boat one day, and spent a lot of time talking to divers at the hotel and on the beach - what a fascinating subculture! Some of them are deeply passionate about it, for some it's just a fun thing to do every now and then, and they are all open and friendly with each other right away.

It rained frequently, but it really didn't bother us much. It just gave us more time to make some homemade margaritas in the room. Actually, those margaritas will probably be what I remember most about this vacation. The grocery store was always out of limes, so the whole trip we were on a quest to find enough limes. Usually we were able to get a few from the restaurants, so we left big tips and went back to the hotel for some after dinner margaritas.

The last day, however, the fresh squeezed lime juice accidentally went down the sink. Undaunted, I shamelessly put on one of my cleavage-baring suits and a smile for the hotel bartender. I went back to the room with four limes and a mental note to thank my sister (though the suits never seemed to stay on for long... )

It sounds like you had a great time. In fact, it was fun just reading about it. :)

It was good that you could unwind from the routine stress so quickly; seems like it always takes me 3 or 4 days.

Glad to see you back at Lit too.

Thanks, Scaly!

It really was a lot of fun, and we both had a great time. Maybe we even fell a little bit more in love. :)

And you know how much of a stress reliever great sex can be. :D

Am also happy to hear the good report Norajane....now I am very envious and off to the SF thread - maybe I can relieve some of my stress there.....

I'm still smiling like the cat that ate the canary, but I may have to join you in that thread soon - LDRs have some serious drawbacks, sigh...
