If I were to say that I’ve been wearing a bunny costume today, what image would it bring to mind?

The costume from that one Buffy episode where the vengeance demon Anya dresses as a big fluffy bunny and admits they frighten her.

Yeah - so no photos (sorry) but my neighbor convinced me to volunteer (well she actually just told me I was doing it - she’s lovely but kinda a force of nature) at a community group egg hunt.

Apparently the biggest number of kids since COVID. We put out 2,000 eggs.

The Keanu Reeves interview on The Graham Norton show about the Playboy Bunny costume his mother created back in the day. And how he wore the costume to a Halloween Party when he was a teen.

I think the video clip is a compilation but the first bit is the story above.

Impossibly cute, Em.

And, for me, elicits a memory of this:

Big fluffy Easter bunny would be my guess. The kind with a giant head and a creepy perma-grin so you can peer out through the mesh over the mouth.

I had just moved to a new city after a fraught year of losing two jobs and a spouse. I can't recall if it was Easter or Palm Sunday, but in any case I had grown weary of moping around the apartment. A regional brass-and-fern was advertising a brunch, so I "went out", even if it was just me. Anyway, restaurant had a costumed bunny like that circulating in the dining room with an Easter basket passing out candy. She stopped at my table and questioned my being by myself, her tone being somewhere between pity and interest. She sounded cute from within that huge head, tho'. Sadly, I was still working on that woe-is-me thing, and really wasn't in the mood for socializing.

One of those "what might've been" moments.

I’m a dirty old man, so . . .

PB Bunnies were something from my Dad's generation. Attractive and all that, but being a child of the '60s I was already questioning the social dynamic and especiallly the subjugation and objectification of women in that way.

So sue me.

Ha! My first thought was a Playboy costume similar to Lumiere's photo but the truth gave me a laugh. I played the Easter Bunny at church for a couple of years when my kids were little; they didn't know until years later.

Then there were the "bunnies" that sat behind me in church every week for a year. I dreamed of being dressed only in them a few times. And yes, there's an "inspired by" story in the works but it may be years before it's ready.
