🎵 Monthly Song Challenge 🎵

No shit! Had no idea. I thought it was just an old school thing.

Well I’m glad that shit (dancing in gym class I is over on many levels. At least my kids didn’t have to do dancing.)

Damn.
I was still being subjected to it back around 2004/05 but as far as I know it's been phased out 🙌🏼

Day 8: The first song you remember dancing to with someone you weren't related to
7th grade, a boy named Paul. He was caught in crossfire of a gang shooting, and was shot & killed when we were freshman.

More Than Words-Extreme
Sorry. 😞

I'd be remiss if I didn't give @Whiskeyjack a big thank you for a great week. It took me a day to get past how much better he is at this than me.
Hats off to the two of ya!

Can’t be easy to do this. One of my favorite threads. I don’t know if I’ve missed a day.

Day 9 - A song a family member introduced you to

My mom or dad used to sing to me before bed. This is one of the songs my dad used to sing to me. I had no fucking clue what it was really about.

I just thought it was a song about ridiculous things and giant mountains of rock candy.

Harry McClintock - Big Rock Candy Mountain

Day 9 - A song a family member introduced you to

I remember sitting in the backseat of the car when this came on the radio and my mom turned it and told me to listen to it. I also remember the look my dad shot her when "giving head" was mentioned. 😂 I didn't know what that meant and there was no internet... (an aha moment later! 😂)

Lou Reed - Take a Walk on the Wildside

Day 9 - A song a family member introduced you to

My Grandfather introduced this song to me. He used to play it on his “gut bucket”. I liked it so much that I started to do Pearl Jams’ version when I was with my cousin’s band. I looked it up one time and it was written by Wayne Cochran who may have had the wildest hairstyle of anyone back in that era.

Day 9 - A song a family member introduced you to

I was cruising with my Aunt. I remember asking her why she shifted gears so differently than my parents, said she dated a race driver once. She popped in this album and sang along to this song; she gave me the cassette as an xmas gift. I watched the music video on Much Music and saw the meaning, and in the past few years I finally understand what she wanted me to know

If - Janet Jackson

9. A song that makes you think
Won’t Be the Last Time - Justin Townes Earle

Now when I was young
I was dumb and I was crazy
Now I'm getting old
And I feel this world closing in on me
On a Sunday mornin' sidewalk
Just wishing Lord that I could sleep
I got my hands down in my pockets
Cause I'm shakin' like a leaf
It won't be the last time
It won't be the last time
It won't be the last time
It won't be the last time
