Day 25: Free for all

First of all, merry Christmas to all if you celebrate!

I acquired several thousand 45 RPM records about a week ago. My sister’s, my wife and my daughter have had a hell of a day listening to random 45s all morning and into the afternoon.

My legs hurt and my core muscles too from laughing!

The winner?

My sisters knew every line. Esp the “woop woop!” So much fun!!

Day 26 - Boxing Day
Duk Koo Kim - Sun Kil Moon

Song is mostly about famous but brutal fight between Kim and Ray Mancini that ended with Kim dying from injuries he sustained. The singer, Mark Kozelek, is from same town in Ohio as Mancini and has many songs about old boxers.

Watching an old fight film last night
Ray Mancini vs. Duk Koo Kim
The boy from Seoul was hanging in good
But the pounding took to him
And there in the square he lay alone
Without face without crown
And the angel who looked upon
Never came down
You never know what day could pick you baby
Out of the air, out of nowhere

Day 26 - Boxing Day. Apparently sonewhere in this world today is known as "Boxing Day". Since I have seen it's meaning has been fluid, your song choice can follow that path.

In case anyone is wondering:
Boxing Day, celebrated on December 26th in the UK and Commonwealth countries, is a holiday following Christmas, historically rooted in giving gifts to the poor and servants, and now known for major shopping sales, sporting events (like soccer and horse racing), and as a day for goodwill. Its origins link to the Feast of Saint Stephen, the first Christian martyr, and traditions of "boxing" alms (money) in church donation boxes for the needy or giving "Christmas boxes" to servants.
