Already 2 days into the new year!

Any new cocktail recipes or delicious new beverage discoveries over the holidays?

I still prefer my whiskey mixed with just the air that fills the rest of the glass. I did have an old fashioned recently that was made with Luxardo cherries, and I'll admit that those cherries are sublime.

And agreed - I've been converted to Luxardo cherries. That's what I buy these days. I also use an old fashioned mix I make using a recipe from @TANSTAAFL58

Do you have a preferred style of whiskey glass? And/or a preferred whiskey?

Mostly I use a Glencairn glass. Unless I'm feeling too lazy to hand wash the glasses afterwards, and then I'll generally go with a larger, but still tapered old fashioned glass.

Ah! My ears were burning.

As much as I like my whisky neat like @midwestyankee I could go for a Dark and Stormy tonight ('coz it's dark and stormy tonight here on Lake Huron). Kraken spiced rum, Great Gentleman ginger beer, a nice float of 151 to finish it? Please?

I'd love to get you a drink, Tan, but someone else will have to play bartender... the Lit gremlins have put me in time out. I can't post images at all. (boo hiss). TPH and Laurel are working in it, I'm told.
 
@cascadiabound, I see i skipped one of your questions. Most of the time, I favor single malts, and lately the peatier and smokier the better. Laphroiag 16 year is what I'd pour if I wanted one right now.
I had the pleasure of traveling in the Scottish highlands a few years ago and acquired an appreciation for smokey, peaty whiskeys... they are still not my favorite- isn't to my preferred palette, but we usually have a good Laphroiag (or similar) in the house.
