I'm only 43, so not close to typical retirement age, but I've invested well and could technically retire, with some good planning. I'd like to retire outside of the contiguous US, so I've been looking at Germany, Portugal, Ireland, and Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia is the land that time forgot in a good way. People make their own music and play cards for entertainment. I will always remember this story from when I visited in 1970. My second cousin told us about a black salesman walking around town, and the kids followed him because they had never seen person of color (my relatives lived in the sticks).
