I didn't see this until a few years ago, and couldn't get past how the wife reminded me of the Popeye cartoon and Olive Oyl. It was hard to take the movie seriously, especially the scene on the stairway.

You might look into how she was treated making the film. Kubrick is a nightmare.

My brother and I were teenagers and we both laughed so hard watching Needful Things at the theater that a couple complained about us.

I seem to remember she was tormented on the set to make her character more believable or something. I think making this movie really messed her up.

It wouldn't make a difference to why I laughed at the movie, she looks like Olive Oyl. And, then, I found out she played that part, too.

The movie just wasn't scary.

Jaws. Still my favorite movie of all time. Terrifying at times, but it had more than a few genuinely funny moments. Too many to quote just one.

It was criminal the way she was treated on that set. And then she was given a Razzie for it. They did later rescind the Razzie, a win for humanity on that one.

This is probably my favorite clown movie of all time. (Sorry Pennywise.) I have fond memories of watching this when I was younger with my dad and brother. (Mom wasn't into killer clowns.)
