Maybe the seed does effect the first generation and the second in that it drastically increases the hosts sexual stamina, fertility and sex drive. That way the third generation is as prolific as possible.

With this seed thing, I have my doubts.

Embedded within the healing process is the passing of a seed.
It occurs to me that the Healers would have some (what would seem to be) oddly arbitrary rules about their healing:
  • Anyone healed may only be healed once
  • For anyone healed, their children may never be healed
  • If anyone healed has a child afterward, they agree to tell the Healers. If they don't want the child, the Healers will take it.
  • Among the Healers is a group known as Mentors, who do not heal.
  • When the new generation of healers comes into their powers, the mentors encourage them to expend their few hundred healings as quickly and as widely as possible (and do not tell them they live longer if they don't).
