2 NYPD officers shot, wounded responding to Bronx armed robbery

You are right about no one wants to talk about what other people dont like about law enforcement. THe law keepin "those people" ot "those other people" in line is always wanted.

Before I ever drank, I was like hell yeah dui standards! Now I see the gray. Buddy of mine got popped for a dead taillight. He is hispanic cop hispanic so it is not in anyway something where someone is being hassled just because. But cop asks him if he has had anything to drink. He admits a beer. He refused breathalyzer, does ok on field tests, they take blood.

My buddy been sweating it for several months, had to go to the MVD twice (45 miles away) his blod was .004. He got it dissmiseed "for now" saying that the cop can refile an amended one to now claim that "well, maybe not legal limit, but I observed impaired.."

COp probably wont, but the whole thing is bullshit. Either everyone is sober enough up to .08 or you cannot argue everyone is drunk over .08. Its liek heads they win, tails they lose.

Then of course drug laws in general, I think we are on the same page there.

I say the law says "speed beyond that is reasonable and prudent" it doesnt sa the numbers on the sign mean shit.

Sometimes going the speed "limit" (so called, in my state there is no language authorizing that) is not prudent. You cant do 65 in heavy traffic where you happen to have a clear shot but the other traffic is crawling. it isn't safe. I can do 100 safely in my old car in the middle of nowhere if no one is around. I drive a lot of distance. I get pulled over for bullshit reasons 10 times a year because I like engines and dont give a shit about what kind of car its in or what the car looks like.

Anyway long and sort of meaningless, but when i complain about any of that, it is like "well obey the law and no problem.." there is ALWAYS a reason to pull someone over. Ask any cop.

I have had some opportunities to make some cash with some less than legal activities. I have had to pass because the risk of being stopped for no reason and getting jammed up makes it not worth it. I should have no such fear. I have a 4th amendment right against search and seizure. Dumb stiff like that and plenty of people are doing society no harm and breaking all kinds of laws.

No one wants to have a conversation about should that or the other thing be a law, and why?

I've personally had two friends get DUIs asleep in parking lots because they knew they shouldn't drive but for a DUI if you are in a car and in possession of your keys you are driving drunk.

The drug war I agree, plus I stand by my belief that a large part of the reason it's continued this long has to do with racism. Not the I hate you kind but but I don't notice or care about you kind. Prohibition lasted a decade (and had to be ended via Amending the Constitution) the drug war could effectively be ended by the President without Congress simply by choosing to tell law enforcement "Hey, don't worry about that, I want you looking for streakers!" And very easily by Congress and it hasn't and even if you count the drug war only starting with Nixon and Reagan that's well over thirty years at this point! Yeah nobody forced any body to do drugs, nobody else was forced to drink but when it reached X damage to society we said "NEW PLAN."

I agree with the speed limit thing and wonder if there is any other justification for the listed speed limits. Like I can drive 100mph on a clear stretch of open road perfectly safely. Is that the speed at which blow outs become more common? Or harder for the average person to control? I'm sure there is a number you can apply where the risk is sufficient. I mean it seems like once every other year we hear about some guy whose parachute didn't open and got away with just minor broken bones. But that's not a reason to jump off the roof or to not have railings on bridges.

Depending on how strictly you interpret the law I've done some shady shit. I bought plenty of liquor when I was in the Marines, when I sold stuff I've "overlooked" that the ID was expired. (For the purposes of ID I don't even understand why IDs expire so long as you are identifiable as the person in the picture. If on the other hand put on one hundred pounds, shaved your head, grew beard I think you should be required to get a new goddamn ID.) I jaywalk. . .seriously I only use crosswalks when the traffic is sufficient that Jay walking is dangerous. But nothing serious.

"Killed in the line of duty" doesn't mean shot.
Of the over 100 killed in the line of duty in 2013, I think only about 30 some were shot.
