2008 News & Views: Discussion and Announcements for the Survivorphile

I hope your husband's okay! Car rental places can definitely be a PITA. I've only had to rent a car once, but it was an experience I hope never to repeat.

That's strange. I have rented cars many times, and have never had any problems. As long as you have a driver's license and adequate insurance and a credit card, you are okay. Of course, if you lack any of those things, you may have a problem.

Oh, poop.
I've won an immunity today and the August thread isn't up yet.

Crim: I added my "where to use this immunity" to the bottom of the July thread. Hope that's OK. ('Cause if I don't do it now, I'll forget all about it  )

Thanks for the kind thoughts guys.

And speaking of candles.... Someone sent a JPG... well, a pix is worth 1000 words. Let's try this link for candles. Double click on the image to enlarge it.

If this works, AND I can find the WMV file of the other, I'll post that.

What an inspiring pose! Lady And I just used ONE candle.

You sure do like to kiss and tell, don't you? Next time, I'll leave the duct tape on your mouth...

My goodness what I picture. I'm such a klutz I'd probably burn myself or set the house on fire.

Too wild for me. I'm married and boring.

I could write a funny story about that though. Sexy housewife tries to seduce husband but burns down the house.. haha

Erin

Right, I remember... THAT's your story and I won't tell anyone the truth. our secret. shhhhhhhhhh

I was a little concerned about the melting wax being so close to the, ummmmm hot boxes.
I see the link worked. That's a free hosting site in case anyone is looking for one.

Sounds like a cool, ummm HOT, premise.

Lady, you never said to keep it secret. Weren't you bragging about candle wax in your feathers? Good thing I didn't tell everyone the rest.... nevermind....

Anyone notice...

... the sharp increase in readings these last 2 days?

3x then 5x normal numbers for me Mon and Tues. so, not holiday, wkend. Curious.

That troll who dropped my Eman 1 story from the top 500 is still hurting my score. No new votes, so no change there. Good thing I'm not obsessed about it.

It does no good to obsess about trolls. Four things will make a story a target for one-bombs:

1. Winning a contest. (Having a W)
2. Having a E
3. Being on top of a list.
4. Bitching about trolls and one-bombs.

Of course, you try to win contests and earn W's and get E's, and it's nice to be on top of a list. The only thing you can do about avoiding them is to shrug your shoulders and accept it. It might help to complain to Laurel about one-bombs, but don't count on it.

help?

alright this probably sounds retartded to all you obvious veterans, but I write erotica but have never posted any on the site, and I'm a little confused as to how this contest works. I just write as many stories as humanly possible, or what?

Yeah that's pretty much it. Write as many stories in as many different categories as possible.

HELP!

I wrote 2 illustrated stories. It keeps getting rejected because it says that I haven't sent the pictures. I have sent the photos by email twice to submit@literotica.com.

Who can I contact and how to help me out with this? It's getting a little frustrating.

Erin

Erin, the best way to do this is to embed your pictures into the story itself and then upload the document instead of doing the copy/paste option when you submit. This way ensures your pictures are received and are placed in the proper spot in the story.

hi Crimson,

I tried attached the file through the submit feature with the pictures imbedded and it wouldn't let me. I asked around and the answer I got was that I couldn't attach the pictures within the document. This was confusing since I did this for my illustrated poems with no problem.

Erin

You can. I've done it with all of my illustrated stories. You insert them into the story (not attach) in the proper places, then save the document as a regular Word document (.doc file). Upload that file in the submit feature. If it's not a .doc (or I think the other is .rtf) file, the submission will not go through. However, when you upload it, you *will* get a message saying something along the lines of the file cannot be read, etc. This doesn't mean that it's not accepting the submission. It simply means the software can't read it and display it for you to preview like you would if it was copy and paste. Simply follow through and hit the submit button and all will be well.

I just tried it. It is saves as a .doc file and when I hit the submit button it processes it and then says

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

This is what happened the first time I tried submitting it and now once again it's doing this. I didn't have this problem when I submitted my illustrated poems.

Erin

Okay, PM Laurel and tell her what you are trying to do and give her that information. It seems like there's something going on with the website.

Anything illustrated or audible has always been a hassle, but I have submitted them. You post the text in the usual way, but in the "Notes" section, you include the info: "The (illustratd/audible) portion of this story will be sent from (The email address you have on record.)

You attach the audible or illustrated portion to the email and send it. The subject of the email shoud be the name of the story, and you should include as a message: "This is the (audible/illustrated) portion of the above referenced story. That should work. You don't need to use those exact words, as long as you include the necessary info.

I've done that many times, though I did not specify the email addy in the notes. I only said that it would be sent by email. I did use the email that is used here. The illustrated poems and stories were always rejected for failure to receive the illustration, even though I sent it in the same manner as you mentioned. Now, I always embed the images in the stories or poems. I have never had a problem that way.

I wondered if maybe because I use a yahoo email addy that it is filtered as SPAM by their email server. I'm not sure.

That could be, but any author's email address should be accepted by their filter.
I have never imbedded a picture. What I have done is have spaces, with notes as to which pictures should go in which places.

Would it be possible to imbed an audible recording in a story that you submit?

no. I'm almost certain that would be impossible.

As far as the audible categories, that's what immunities are for. LOL
