2023 Poem-A-Week Discussion Thread

Hi all,
I'm new in this site, just joined Jan25,
if someone can clear my doubts...

1. Can late comers join in the weekly challenge, and add up more poems to make the total of 52 by the year end?
2. Are nsfw poetry allowed here, or are we to publish them through moderation?
3. If I were to put more poems than 1 per week, am I allowed to do it?
4. If I put a poetry here, am I allowed to put it elsewhere too? Just on this site or elsewhere in other forums?
5. Where else can I put my poems freely apart from this challenge?
6. Can I submit the poems for publishing simultaneously as we put it in the challenge?

That's about all,
I'll wait for a response on this before posting my first poem here.

Welcome to Lit and to the poetry forum - here is the OP for the poem a week challenge in case you missed it.
https://forum.literotica.com/thread...enge-poems-only-thread.1579894/#post-96209896

1. folks are welcome to join at any time - as the OP says - this is a forgiving place.
2. nsfw poems are welcome as long as they remain within Lit guidelines (no pedophilia/ underage etc)
3. Yes you may post more poems than one a week - as the spirit moves you - or if you are having a week that you just can't write for whatever reason, that is okay too.
4. Many of us cross post our poems as we like. People like me and @Mrtenant have our own threads where we tend to collect all of our writings to help us keep track of them on one place. And we both also post other places on the board as we want.
5. I do not believe there are any rules about where you can post your poetry elsewhere.
6. Absolutely.

I am sure someone will come along and correct/ add to this as needed.
Looking forward to reading you!

thanks for the quick response.

1. Can I create a thread to collect my stuff too? and does it have to be in any specific place?
if I were to put poetry and other stuff I'm working on too, in public?

Welcome to our little forum. :)

All the answers you've gotten so far are correct, just thought I'd give specific answers to these. You can absolutely do with your poems whatever you'd like, post them/submit them elsewhere, etc.

When posting in the poetry forum, you can post in any of our available threads that the poem applies to, or start your own thread with a theme, idea, etc. I'd suggest looking at some of the sticky posts at the top of the page, which can point you to lots of our older threads and challenges, if you're interested to see a bit more of what's gone on around here.

You're welcome to start a thread to collect your own poems. Several poets here have those. Some have started theirs in the main forum, and some have started them in the Poet's Hangout forum, so either place is fine.

I've very thankful to you'll,
Surely look forward, not to fall
I'd get tremendous support from you, when I write my first rhyme in.
I won't call it a poetry though
it's just a word play, nothing more!

I'm young, still trying
may sound novice, not lying,
more or narrative poetry I'd do
to push my feeling kinks through.

that's about it,
this is just a word of thanks
to all of who did, and didn't reply.
my thoughts are spontaneous,
like feelings never rehearsed!

welcome to the forum, goddessofglee :) i hope you find insight in the reading and comments of others, your own responses to other's writes, and that you enjoy the whole experience nearly half as much as us here have. Happy writings.

Hot Showers

Steam billowing beyond the glass
Streams of water casting their spell
Aching bone deep from the strain
Slowly moving so tired beyond belief
Muscles crackling with every stretch
Pulling away sweat stained clothing
Filled with a day full of dirt and grime

Just keep moving, one more step
Into the welcome heat of this shower
How the cascade penetrates and soothes
Pulling away at knots, easing bruises
Rinsing away at cuts and scrapes
Closing my eyes against the stream
Reaching out and steadying against the wall

One minute, two minutes, now ten
To just let the water hit me, soak me
Thinking of nothing, nothing at all
Dirt and blood swirl around the drain
Just like the invulnerability of my youth
Another day, another month, and year
Another hot shower restoration

The world returns and so does time
Washing, removing the deeper stains
Revealing clean skin and clean hair
Shaking it off, just one more effort
And its over except for the drip drip drip
And the towelling dry of head to toes
How my eyes just want to close

Hand against the wall once more
Slow walking to the bed, clean and dry
Blades of the ceiling fan turning slowly
Sitting on the bed naked face in my hands
Slinging back my hair in a last stretch
Falling back and staring for just a moment
At the slow steady turning of the blades

Just for a moment, closing my eyes
I'll get up in moment and find some food
In just but a moment darkness falls
And the deepest of sleeps claiming me
Gone are the cares of the world
Voices, toils, problems, dirt, solutions
Tomorrow will take care of itself

Week 7, poem 2
Friday afternoon, another week passed, maybe not when Harry met Sally, but still, 'I'll have what you're having.'

GP your Venus Earthbound is so dang impressive it took my breath away and even made me break my resolve not to react with emoticons! It flows so well and is moving, even arresting, in content without feeling cloying or over the top.

You've been knocking it out of the park on the regular with your poems. They are a joy for me to read. How are you choosing the forms you select? Tzara's thread? Turco? I Ching? 🙂 Ok just kidding on that last one, but I am interested.

Just beautiful writing! ♥️

...everyone's poems are so expressive & affecting!!

I was looking up Piscator's 'Toonie' and randomly came across a new to me, interesting toy 'Tonies'. (I don't have kids). I reached out to a friend as I wanted to purchase the starter set for her family...

Life is so ironic!! :)

Thank you so much. I just saw this.
Right now, the tank is empty and I've been sick for a few days, which doesn't help, as you know.

Angie, Cali, Tzara, GP and goddess g - you all are definitely in the deep end of the pool.

Excuse me while I paly in the kiddies' pool

Calli "Otherside" is really, really good. Such strong and fluid evocative writing! Also I love that song, ❤️
