A Chance Encounter

Sierra offered him a soft smile. "Thank you, but something about drinking firmented grapes has always bothered me. I generally stick to beer or hard liquor, neither of which is sold here. I will take a cup of coffee with some bailey's in it though."

She was impressed by his offer of wine, it almost made this seem like a date, almost. She was going to have to do something about the lack of romance in her life soon before she raped some poor man. Some poor man like the very delectable one in front of her. "So what did you want to talk to me about, Dean?"

Deair smiled across the table and ordered two cups of coffee from the waiter. "Well I wanted to talk to you about what you did yesterday, but I think I will have to show you something before we can discuss anything."

After the waiter brought the coffee and they had placed their order, Deair asked, "Bear with me ok? I need to show you something. Take a sip of your coffee."

Deair watched as Sierra took a sip of her black, Bailey's free, coffee and grimaced. "I know there isn't any Bailey's in there. That's kinda the point," Deair said as he reached across the table and covered Sierra's mug with his hand. Deair then closed his eyes and concentrated on working the spell. He allowed a little extra magic to bleed through so that there was a slight glow from underneath his palm, which elicited a quiet gasp from Sierra. Taking his hand away and opening his eyes, Deair said, "Now try it."

Sierra couldn't believe her eyes as his palm seemed to glow over her coffee. Tentatively she took a second sip, eyeing dean warily. Then her eyes went wide. "Th-There's baileys in it now." she whispered leaning towards him and unwittingly giving him and anone else who care to look a lovely view of her cleavage, "How did you do that?"

Deair smiled and nodded when Sierra told him that there was now Bailey's in her coffee. Then it took every ounce of his self control to not whisk her out of the cafe and back to his place when she leaned closer to him and asked him how he did it. The view of her superb cleavage now on view for everyone that could see it. Deair leaned in as well and whispered to her ,"Magic. It's everywhere. Would you like to learn how to do use it?"

Sierra nodded as a slow nearly wicked grin spread across her pixie like features. "Yes, who wouldn't? what do I need to do to learn?"

She had no idea the picture she was making for him as she settled herself against the edge of the table and continued to sip at her coffee. Behind him, Ona had wandered back over and was making insinutations with her eyebrows, which of course made sierra giggle and spew a bit of coffee on dean. "Oh... Oh I am so sorry. Ona was making faces at me. Oh you're soaked."

Deair smiled at Sierra's enthusiasm. "There is quite a bit you have to learn. We can start as soon as you like."

Suddenly Deair started as Sierra blew coffee at him. It was so sudden that he did not have a chance to put a shield spell. Deair looked down at his soaked shirt while he listened to Sierra's apology. Turning in his chair, he saw Ona with a hand over her mouth, trying not to laugh. Deair finally looked over at Sierra and laughed. "It's ok. At least I know I didn't cause you to spit coffee on me."

Deair looked down again at his soaked shirt. Deair knew that he could clean the shirt in a heartbeat, but it would be hard to explain how his shirt had gotten so clean so quickly. So Deair brushed his napkin across his shirt, subtly using magic to quickly dry the shirt. Deair knew that since Sierra had seen the magic in his palm, she would be able to sense whenever magic was being used around her.

Sierra laughed and reached over with her own napkin to help him soak up the coffee. She knew he was using magic, but she couldn't bring herself to rudely sit andwatch him clean up her mess. "Why don't we go eat a real dinner? You're choice. I am sure a man like you probably prefers more to eat than a tiny BLT sandwich."

Catching Ona's look, Sierra realized that had been the woman's intention all along. To get them out of her store and into the evening where she believed romance would take care of itself. She really should not have set the woman up for her antics, but it had served its purpose.

Deair thought about Sierra's offer and came up with an idea. "Why don't I cook for you?" he asked. Then he realized what he had asked. Deair was very careful about who he brought to his home. This woman hadn't agreed to be his apprentice yet and here he was inviting her into his home! It was too late to rescind the invitation, so Deair sat across from Sierra awaiting her answer and finding, to his surprise, that he wanted her to say yes.

Sierra was caught off guard by his invitation. "Cook for me? At your house? You mean like... an actual date?"

It was a frightening yet all together appealing thought. She had just met Dean, but something about him seemed... safe. Oh she imagined a man like him could be dangerous under the right circumstances, but she got no sense of nefarious intent when he looked at her. what the hell. She was a grown woman and the risk was calculated to be worth it.

"Um, sure. Do you live far from here?"

Deair was slightly surprised, ok, very surprised, that Sierra had agreed. He told her that he didn't live far and that they could walk there. Deair turned to see that Ona had disappeared, so he asked the waiter to cancel their order. He looked across the table at Sierra and asked, "Shall we?" Deair was completely oblivious to the other women in the restaurant, who were now staring at Sierra as they got their stuff together to leave.

Sierra nodded at Deans question as she wondered why in the world she seemed to be the center of attention now. She hadn't done anything more than accept a man's invitation to dinner... at his place. She couldn't fathom why he would have offered such a thing. Unless... Was it possible that the incredibly handsome Dean was interested in her for more than her ability to understand nature and see spirits?

As they passed the front counter, even Ona had a wistful look on her face. Sierra offered the older woman a small wave as Dean scooted her out of the cafe. She was reasonably sure that there was not a female inside the tiny store that was not envious of the quiet little daycare worker who had just nabbed herself a date with a god.

Then she was being led by the hand up the street towards Dean's home. It was bound to be an interesting night no matter what happened now.

Walking hand in hand with Sierra, Deair led her towards his home. The evening air was crisp and the gentle breeze that wafted through the streets was soothing. Deair glanced over at Sierra and wondered again about the power concealed within her. Soon, the two arrived at the intersection that was three blocks from Deair's home.

"We will be home soon," he told her as they turned up the street on which is house was. Suddenly, Deair heard the gentle song of a water nymph coming from a small garden. He looked over at Sierra to see if she heard it, but she seemed oblivious.

"Stop. I want you to listen to something."
