OOC: What now? Okay, Grilam's already standing, and told everyone to put wax in their ears, explaining the whole siren thing. Plus, Demodar didn't set any of this up. It's the natural dangers of the monster valley. Grilam warned everyone before they went in.

There are no 'suprises' from the 'old friend'. Get on the boat.

Denoitnem:

"Ho hum, Glaferin." After removing one of the wax pieces from my ears, I hear what he is blathering about. "Don't you worry too much. Even if Demodar sends everything he's got, we are very powerful and will survive." I don't mention it to my companion but I think he has gone crazy. Maybe he doesn't remember that Grilam said there would be dangers. "Anyway, Glaferin, put some wax in thine ears." With that, I replace the ball of wax and follow Grilam's lead.

Glaferin

Simply looking at Denoitnem I shrug and put some wax in my ears, and following wait to see what other monsters will appear to attmept and eat Denoitnem. "It would serve him right" I think happily.

Galyn

So Demodar, have you a television around here? A magic mirror? A large scrying crystal, perhaps? It would behoove us to keep an eye on the progress of my erstwhile companions, so that we may be suitably prepared.

Grilam the Black

He turned, and started leading the small group down through tyhe trench towards the siren cave. Humming to himself as he did so. It was a nice place to visit.

Demodar

"Why, of course. Here."

He walked to a small side table, taking up a pitcher and two small silver bowls. He carried them back to the table, placing on before Galyn, and one before his own seat. He poured a liguid that could only be described as liquid silver into both both, and ran a finger around the rims.

"There. Ancient scrying bowls I found inside the Fort."

Denoitnem:

Everything about the cave calls out to me. The shiny walls and neon lights scream, "Come here, stay here, love being here." Of course that is just my interpretation. The walls and the flashy lights actually make no noise through my stuffed ears. Up ahead, the tunnel turns off to the right. Physical music notes dance from beyond the corner, floating in the air--scary stuff, if you ask me.

Glaferin

As I walked along the corridor following the others I kept being drawn by the simple messages drawn in neon all around me. "Guiness" said one, "Newcastle" said another, one even said "Bud Light". I was in heaven, I didn't want to follow these bozos who seemed hell bent on leaving such a nice place. Thinking about it for a moment I realized belatedly that my companions were now a good chunk of distance ahead of me, running to catch up I met up with them just as we reached a turn in the corridor, and I began to feel a beat flowing through the rock all around me.

Denoitnem:

Smiling at Glaferin, I motion my hand around the room to present it to my friend. Lovely women lie around the room, sparsely dressed. Musical notes dart from their mouths and dance around the room. I see Grilam ahead and watch as he regains his demeanor. He continues forward and I do the same, though it hurts my heart to leave this place.

Grilam the Black

He glanced around the chamber. At last. The walls were a cool blue dreamstone, which flashed sparkling messages of what you wanted. A waterfall on the far side lead to several layered pools of calm water. Barely clad women lay around, mouths open as they sang. Sirens. He lead the party through an archway.

Beyond the archway was a small nightclub. Dressed to seduce, the women danced seductively around. A fully stocked bar lay to one side, and a redhead dressed in the skimpiest bikini ever was busy dishing out the drinks.

Grilam looked back to the others, noting he probably should have suggested blindfolds to them. He managed to wrestle Glaferin away from the bar, he ushered them all into the room beyond, which held several chairs. He forced them all to sit, take out their earplugs of wax, and gave Glaferin a keg to settle him, and walked out. Soon after, the room lowered to a lower level, and Grilam called down to them.

"You guys go on, there's nothing in the next chamber but a small-harpy run diner. Get some food in you, I'll be on in a minute. Got to get some information!"

Denoitnem:

"Thank the heavens," I exclaim to Glaferin, "food!" Indeed, I am quite famished from the trek. I look around and notice that Lord is nowhere to be found. I wonder if he has lost himself in the Sirens' cave. "Glaferin. Two things: first, you must share some of that keg with me, and second, have you seen Lord--and now that I mention it, Sorian?"

The waitress comes over and I order a 1950's style 50/50 burger and a Coca-cola. Glaferin eyes me and I explain, "A fifty fifty burger, you know. Okay, fifty percent meat, fifty percent fat--the way ground beef used to be." I remember the good days when fat added flavor and cholesterol was a four-syllable word that nobody could spell.

The Caw and Claw

The diner was dingy and old. It was actually an old train dining car that was transformed into a small diner, kitchen leading away into some small caves that made up the kitchen.

Small well-kept harpys ran the place. They were a third the size of men, and had the legs and wings of birds. The feathers were a dingy grey, a slow generation turn from the usual black. They were half-breeds. Regular harpys bred with angel birds. Small aprons across their fronts hid their human female torsos.

Wings replacing their arms, the food was carried around by miniature centuars with donkeys halves instead of horses. Also inside trhe diner were a few semi-clad sirens, quietly talking amongst themselves and eying the wizards, a few goblins, and-surprise suprise-the golem that had acompanied them in their first mission to find the haze.

Glaferin

When Grilam had dragged me from the bar I thought I was going to hit him. But, old buddy of mine he was, he knew enough to give me a keg, "What a guy" I thought happily as I tasted the sweet barley and hops of Killian's Irish Red.

After Denoitnem and I had gotten to the diner, and he had ordered his very fine burger, I appreaciated a 50/50 burger like any good man seeking coronary disease, I gave him a pint of the beer and settling back I asked the Harpy Waitress if they had any steak on hand. She said they did and asked for anything around 2 pounds to be brought out to me, cooked rare.

Settling back and raising my pint to Denoitnem, I thought furiously over the two missing chaps. Pursing my lips a little before I spoke I commented.. "Well, I do believe Lord disappeared long before we even got to the trench back up there. And Sorian, I know he made at least as far the nightclub, I think. To be honest I was under the spell of that sweet young thing upstairs handing out the pints, and yes I had my wax in." I quickly added before Denoitnem could comment.

Looking at the couple of Sirens over at the other table on break I asked Denoitnem "Hey, do you think either of those lovely young creatures would care to join a couple of wizarding types like us for some drinks and some good food?"

Denoitnem:

"Ho hum Glaferin, Grilam would kill us if he found us associating with Sirens--but they sure are eye-candy." Watching Glaferin choke down a huge steak, I think that perhaps he is right; I haven't seen Lord or Sorian in some time either.

Grilam the Black

His own wax fell to the ground. Far from killing the other wizards, as long as they associated out of the cave, it wouldn't matter to him. Sirens were amplified in this place, and that's why they lived there. More than a few of them asked what he was doing there, and backed away at the answer.

He moved back into the romm with the pools, and a siren walked up to him, pressing her buxom body against his own as she sang. His eyes turned to her, hurt filling them. She backed off quickly. It was a side-effect of the dreamstone and sirens that made them all look like his wife, probably the only thing that let him move freely among them was the pain. He approached the waterfall, and moved through to the back room. It was a well-furnished apartment. In fact, it reminded his of the expensive suites of five star hotels. He sat down in a chair, the songs of the sirens silenced by the power of the room. He sensed her as she moved behind him, hands touching his shoulders lightly.

"Hello, Lord Grilam. It is not often you come to my abode. I can feel it inside you, you used that magic again, Lord? To silence the Balisks, I suppose..."

Grilam closed his eyes, sighing. "Yes, I did you that spell, and yes, against the balisks. It should wear off soon, I know how much you love them. But I come on different business. The haze has been identified as Demodar. I wish to know if you've turned."

He heard her laugh, and the sound of snakes hissing as she nmoved around, seating herself on the couch opposite the coffee table. Grilam opened his eyes, and looked up to meet her gaze. She spoke again, "Lord Grilam, he offers power, yes. BUt not respect. You alone have treated us as normal people. You and those you follow as the 'Black' have shown us the only kindness we have ever know. He offers us the fear of others. But we much prefer your respect, Lord Grilam. The haze has moved on, but we still hold with the centaurs and manticores. We are monsters, but we do not have to act as such."

Grilam smiled at the gorgon, and stood, bowing. "Thank you, Lady Basil. I must be off, I suit you will keep a close eye on the others?"

"You mean the other two wizards? The boy is loose Goddess knows where, but the other is helping to entertain the sirens. You know how they long for male companions. But you must be off. We will hold them awhile. Until the time ios right for their own mission. Good day, Lord Grilam."

"Good day." And thus, Grilam was gone.

Galyn

Staring down into the worked metal of the bowl before him, Galyn concentrated, focusing his attention on the mental image of his former companions. Gradually, an image began to coalesce, and his vision centred on the sight sight of Denoitnem and Glaferin. The two wizards seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely, lolling about in a large cavern filled with women, and downing ale from a large keg that sat beside them.

Glancing back up, he found himself the object of his host's piercing gaze. Blinking, he turned his head. "I found them, or two of them, anyway. Denoitnem and Glaferin. As for the others... Grilam is a mystery, he's around, somewhere, but my attempts at scrying for him are being blocked, somehow. Sorian is around too, but I can't see him, he might be unconscious or shielded in some way. And Lord? I can't even locate him. It's almost like he's disappeared from this plane of existence..."

Demodar

The wizard looked into the bowl, peering close at his own bowl. He looked up, and nodded. He sat back, hands on the arms of the chair as he watches his guest.

"Grilam and Sorian are in the Siren Caves. The Dreamstone its made in prevents scrying. As for Lord, he is protected by something far deeper. How do you think a boy could become a wizard? He has not the power, nor the intellect needed. Nay, something far stronger hides behind that boy, using him like a puppet, throwing him around for its own purposes. He went insane earlier. Probably from a lack of that controlling force."

He folded his hands before him, and closed his eyes. Thinking. "In the Siren Caves. Interesting. But none the matter. The other two are in the 'Caw and Claw' a harpy-run diner. Past the caves. Watch them. No doubt Grilam will join up with them again."

Galyn

"Easily done, I will monitor their actions. But why are they there? What could they possibly want in the Siren Caves? And more importantly, could this hiding Power be a threat to us? I must admit, Lord does not seem a likely candidate for such august attention."

Demodar

He smirked.

"Grilam will be asking about the gorgon. A powerful enemy if we could turn her to our worthy cause. When they heard a haze was there, he would have been afraid she was turned. As for the others, maybe they're hungry?"

"As for Lord, the power would have chose himbecause he's weak and easilly controlled. Whatever it is, it doesn't seem a threat. Perhaps it has plans of its own? Interesting thoughts. Try to loacte Lord, I have something to check upon"

And with that, his eyes turned to the bowl, and the scene he beheld changed.

Galyn

Leaving Demodar to his task, Galyn bent once more to the bowl before him, focusing all of his attention on locating the elusive child.

OOC:

Okay, Lord hasn't posted since Dec. 20, if he hasn't showed up by tomorrow I'll continue this post by finding Lord in the bowl and create some reason for him to be away for a while, don't worry, I'll leave him an opening to come back whenever he wants.
Hello... Lord?
Still there?
Hello?....

OOC:

Unless Silverwolf or Lord post, assume that they are as Grilam said. We don't need to construe a post around non-existant characters:

Lord is mysteriously vanished, perhaps being controlled by a puppetteer.

Sorian is being actively entertained by the sirens.

Denoitnem:

Eagerly downing another pint of the exquisite beer, I notice that Grilam has returned. "Grilam, old chap, join us for a bite to eat." I grin eagerly over the half-eaten burger. Then, I elbow Glaferin and whisper to him, "Our luck, the old boy will want us to give up eating and continue adventuring."

Glaferin

I had been enjoying my steak immensly, and I had also been making plans around asking the really cute Siren with the red hair at the table next to us out for a drink and some fun upstairs. Denoitnem broke my concentration when he elbowed me.

Looking at him with somewhat a angry look, I gulp the last of my steak down and comment. "Most damn well bloody likely, ever since his wife died the old boys been a royal pain in the ass." Nodding to the approaching Grilam and saluting Denoitnem with my tankard and a cheery "Be right back" I head over to the Siren's table, and remark "Excuse me there lass, but I was wondering if I may have a word with such a lovely creature like you..."

Grilam the Black

Completely ignoring the two other wizards, Grilam make his way to an empty table and sat down. Placing his face in his hands, he thoughts, leaving the others to their own tasks. He waved the harpy away when asked if he wanted anything, and was left in silence only peirced by the giggling of the sirens, each of which were planning their own fun with the wizard.

Denoitnem:

"Ho, hum," I announce to the empty table, "now I'm lonely!" Depression kicks in and I ravenously attack the other half of the burger.

Glaferin

Smiling at the Siren's giggled "Have a seat there handsome" I sat, and offered to get her a drink while I was there. At her smiling head shake of NO, I sat back a little and asked. "So, how long have you been in the Sirening business? That long really, why thats a good career you've got going then. So whats the best perk you get?"

Denoitnem:

Sitting at the lonely table, I continue to gulp down large portions of ale. Suddenly, I see a light appear a meter before me. Out of the brightness, a lovely woman walks to my table. Her blonde hair flows as if uplifted by the air. Her pure white garb screams innocence. Behind her, stretching upward and outward, a pair of angelic feathered wings move in the same imagined breeze.

"Denoitnem," She breathes a melodious echo, "the time has come." I stare at her in confusion. "Denoitnem," The echo plays off of my ear, "I am sorry." Suddenly, I recognize the face of a mournful character.

"You're the," I gasp as I realize the truth, "... the... the threadkilling fairy. Aren't you?"

She never did answer me. The light explodes and everything is engulfed by it.

OOC:
Okay guys. This has been really fun. Each of you are wonderful writers and I hope that I will have the opportunity to write with each of you again.

Unfortunately, school has begun again. After this first week, I have realized that I am subscribed to way too many threads. Therefore, I'll be pooling my resources so that I have less commitment to Lit right now.
