And yes, I did edit my earlier post, but only because in light of the reaction from the board, there is now no way that she could find it funny. Sorry if I lost your respect. If you continue to go off on me, that's ok. I really didn't mean any harm.

I love Southern very much and I am also friends with Oliver.
Do I think this is in poor taste? Yes. It is supposed to be a joke...maybe if you posted it while Southern was online so that she could post right back to you...I am not going to rip you a new asshole, but I really wish Laurel would erase this thread. If Southern has had a bad day it will hurt whether it is a joke or not. Do I think they talked about this? It is possible but I don't believe that she thought he would do it for real. I am trying to call Southern right now to warn her at Oliver request...Please don't ever do this again....it was a mistake

Admittedly I was pretty upset when I first saw the thread too, and I can empathize with all of your feelings.

HOWEVER, he has apologized (several times in fact) and yet he keeps getting berated.

Let's think back on DCL's 1000th post thread about "family" and all that? No matter what they do or how they piss you off, you still accept them back. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes, and Oliver is our friend (or family, whatever, you get my point).

He has shown at least some coolness by not being a "Dee-cole" and attacking the people who are pissed at him, but instead has apologized.
Doesn't that mean anything?

Again, I understand where you are coming from and I am sure it feels good to unleash your anger at him but now it just seems the same things are being said over and over.

Can't we all just... get along?

I think you are all great and I too hope that Laurel deletes this thread.. (and before I get attacked, I am going to apologize ahead of time and say... I am not directing this at any particular person and do NOT mean to offend!)

For once in this lifetime...I am a little lost for words.

First and foremost, let me say that I am POSITIVE that Oliver meant no harm. He and I did have a chat last night in which we discussed some of the things he has said about me in the past. We both agree that they are meant in fun and that we both giggle at them. We also both agreed that there was no reason for him to stop posting such foolish notions. In joking, he mentioned that he would post something about me "taking it up the ass". I laughed and told him to go right ahead.

I had no idea that it would go quite this far ... and to say that it's "OK" with me would be a lie. It went too far, it was out of line and I told him so. He has apologized profusely. The man is truly sorry.

I would ask Laurel to delete this whole thread, but I am afraid that somehow, someone who read his first post would think that he had it deleted to "cover his ass" and that's not true. He meant it as a joke. That joke got way out of hand. I am a little offended and he has apologized.

I don't know what else to say.

I appreciate all you guys sticking up for me. It is nice to have friends. (Would these be my "friends in low places"?)

I think I'm glad I missed the original post, although when I started reading, I couldn't imagine why Oliver saying he fell down in the mud with SS was making all of you so damn mad! Reading this thread was a little like walking into the Twilight Zone.

So, from someone who didn't see the original post, I'd say my summary is Oliver screwed up, you guys clobbered him, and SS forgave him after he apologized for going too far with a joke. Yup, sounds like a family to me.

p.s. I kind of figured I'd find something like this thread on the board after finding the post about what a great lady SS is first. My first thought was "oh oh, something bad is up ahead....."

totally agree with siren she told him what he did to a very special person with whom we all care about. She was standing up for one of us and that is how it should be. Oliver I do hope you will never do something like this again and I am really glad that you apolgized to SS and that she let you have it.

I do understand about us being a family and part of that is protecting those we care about no matter what the cost.

So yes we can all go on from here but if you are going to make a joke that is cruel you better be willing to take the punishment that we will give you for offending one of us.

Realizing it was his warped sense of humour that got him in this trouble, I tried to lighten the situation .. please go back and re-read my posts dear.

Having been absent from the boards for a few days, I wasn't able to see Oliver's entire original post. However, people make mistakes, and Oliver has always acted like a gentleman before this. Humor is something that sometimes gets misconstrued, especially here. I have lost no respect for him. He's apologized sincerely and he's taken all the flames with dignity. So leave him alone. SS herself has dealt with it.
