3 blocks west? Not by my memory. It was actually right on the corner of 13th and U. Come out of the station turn left on the sidewalk and right there on the corner before you even cross the street. Looking on the Starbucks site it is

yes there are two starbucks (as always) in DC. If you take the Green line and use the 13th St. Exit, it's right off the metro next to some subway or whatever. 16th and U is farther up U Street.
I tried to delete the poll and start a new one but i can't figure out if that's possible.

the 'bucks at 16th is small. i've not been in the 13th st one, but frequent the 16th st one and it's not big.

Yeah it is small on 13th as well. I thought I was losing my mind though. I knew I saw one right off the Metro. And yeah it is right next to a sandwich shop. Because I was thinking it sounded good and almost stopped last time we tried this but they were closed by the time I gave up and decided to go home. I am not a Starbucks fan either. Think they put something in their drinks to get people addicted and they are going to try and take over the world or something LOL. But it is a meeting place you know.
