Or the Una-bomber.I’m thinking a sorority hazing ritual, but I draw a blank trying to imagine a modern-day version of a hermit that’s not the cliche basement-dwelling nerd.
He could have agoraphobia, or a crippling case of social anxiety that basically leaves him housebound with only a select few family or friends that come and go every so often to visit or bring him groceries/essentials. Then the ladies need to figure out how to get in there to actually do the seducing since he's obviously not going to come to them.I’d say one way to do it in the modern day is have the hermit be someone who makes video content on YouTube. They make long form videos and seem intelligent and are pretty attractive but they also are terrified of going out and being recognized.
So the women of the neighborhood decide to hold a competition to try and get him out of his house and into their beds
I binged the show Best Medicine a few weeks ago. It's set in a small New England coastal town, anywho one episode there was an outdoorsman who lived in the woods and came around once a year, total hunk, he held a survival course and all the town women attended the course every year.I’m thinking a sorority hazing ritual, but I draw a blank trying to imagine a modern-day version of a hermit that’s not the cliche basement-dwelling nerd.
I'm currently reading Outsider: An Old Man, a Mountain, and the Search for a Hidden Past and the comments about needing social contact, both the Old Man subject, and Henry David Thoreau, made me wonder about sex of course. That inspired this thread.I binged the show Best Medicine a few weeks ago. a delivery person who is still lingering (completing the "delivered" report?) when he goes to the door...How about someone with severe allergies? He is allergic to perfume, clothing, coffee, most foods, gas fumes, and all the things that you can't escape in modern urban life. So he stays in his house all day every day, has his groceries delivered, and is always naked because fabric makes his skin break out. But I can't see how this could lead to a sexy story, other than the nudity. Maybe a neighbor is spying on him through the window with a telescope and falls in lust?

Ah ha! You gave me an idea. A real life "bubble boy" would no doubt belong to a bunch of on-line support groups. Where people trade tips, commiserate, and compare allergies. Maybe he finds a compatible "bubble girl" who has all the same sensitivities he has. They also match in blood type, skin type, etc., so they won't trigger each other. They become soul mates first on line, and then they decide to move in together to a shared bubble for two. And live fuckily ever after, of course. The allergy angle would make it difficult to not generate a bunch of plot holes. Trying to turn Bubble Boy into a lit story.
