A hybrid comes to have the blood of one. (Male needed, vampire/werewolf hybrid 1x1)

"Fine! Go! See how far it gets you."

He reached out and grabbed her arm, holding her still while he zipped up her dress. No one would notice them going down the steps, and once she was gone he could see who went out after her. He was already fairly confident as to the identity of at least one Council agent, but if there was more than one then it would be helpful to know who. Her hair would hide the fang marks, and the state she was in, she was likely to just go immediately home. If he knew anything about Sean, he and Charlotte would likely be in some private room somewhere by now... busy.

"Come on."

He pulled her out into the hall, leading her along the corridor until they reached the top of the stairs, they went back down the stairs again and he let go of her arm, watching her begin to make her way through the crowd. Shaking his head slightly, he nodded at Henry, before going back up to where the curved stairs met at the top.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. Your host for this evening."
______________________________________________________________

"Found it..."

But before she could say anymore Sean cut her off with a fierce kiss, pushing her back until she was leaning against a table in the middle of the room, his hands fumbling with the zip on the back of her dress. He finally managed to find it, tugging it down, moving down to kiss her neck again...

Emma barely had time to react as he zipped her back into her dress, sending her on her way so quickly that she nearly stumbled out the front door, blue eyes unfocused as the cool air hit her. She could hear the announcement..the 'big reveal' that she had wanted to be there for, and right now all she wanted to do was to run.

They hadn't been allowed to park in the driveway, and Emma didn't even make it to her car before she found herself nearly thrown against a tree, managing a whimper as a hand closed around her neck.

"I thought I told you to stay at the party.."

The words were quiet but he didn't waste any time inspecting her neck, unable to help but to grin as he saw the bite marks.

"What did he say?"

Again his pupils dilated, her fingers clawing at his arm as he held her steady before releasing his grip, keeping his hand poised against her neck in case he needed to squeeze.

"H..he said..I'm like him.."

The man's eyes went wide as he stared at her, as though trying to figure out how any of it was possible.

"I hope you realize what this means."

Emma stared up at him in some sort of daze, barely flinching when he bit in the same spot that Dimitri did. Knowing the threat, he knew he wouldn't be killed by disposing of it. He drank quickly, wrapping an arm around her as he felt her begin to weaken.

He pulled away from her neck, her eyes unfocused as he held her up easily with one arm, taking in the fact that she was visibly paler, her lips having lost most of their pinkness.

"Just a little more and you won't have to even worry about any of this. Wish I could savor it..but we can't waste any time.."

The introduction was dramatic, but short, no more than a few minutes. How glad he was to see all of them, to be welcomed to town like this etc. etc. All the usual stuff. Once it was done he made his way down the stairs, accepting the usual congratulations and thanks. He looked around, spotting Henry. "Well?"

"Tyler went out after her."

"Son of a bitch, I knew he'd have a hand in this, you guys stay here. Look after the party, I'm willing to bet there's more Council agents around. Keep an eye out and deal with them if they try to cause trouble. People will be starting to leave soon. That's when they'll try something."

A few moments later he was outside, he could see them clear as day, Tyler had Emma pinned against a tree, he'd evidently been feeding from her. But unlike Dimitri, Tyler didn't benefit from the sense of a wolf, and didn't hear him coming. There was a sudden rush, a blur in the air, and Tyler was flying away from Emma. Emma was still against the tree, blood trickling down the side of her neck from where Tyler had been feeding. Her eyes were unfocused, her skin and lips pale from blood loss. Deprived of Tyler's support she swayed and it looked like she was going to topple, he slid an arm under shoulder, supporting her. He growled at the vampire.

"She's mine Tyler."

Emma seemed to be having a difficult time maintaining her balance, leaning against him as soon as he was there. He was warm,..and she felt cold, at least colder than normal.

She buried her face in his chest, her fingers clutching the blazer in an attempt to keep herself on her feet, though she wasn't really sure of how long that was going to last.

"I just..I want to go home.."

She felt dizzy, refusing to lift her head from where she had buried it, as though afraid that the spinning would be worse if her eyes were open.

"You can't hide her forever, Dimitri..we'll all come for her now."

Tyler didn't even try to sugar coat it, and just as quickly as Dimitri had come, Tyler was gone, leaving a shivering Emma in his wake.

Emma was barely holding onto consciousness as she leaned heavily against him for support. This bite hadn't been clean like Dimitri's, but it didn't seem to be bleeding much. Of course she didn't know how much he'd taken, and really she still didn't understand why they were after her.

"Somehow I don't think home is an option anymore."

Dimitri stared at the point where Tyler had disappeared, thoughtfully. Tyler was a younger vampire, but what he lacked in brute force he more than made up for in cunning. He'd quite ably derailed Dimitri's plans, with what seemed to be minimal effort, but knew better than to offer empty threats. What he said, he meant. They were going to have trouble soon.

Emma's face was buried in his chest, her skin cold against his. He could sense how the blood had been drained from her, could smell it, it's intoxicating scent no longer seemed quite as attractive now. Not now that he knew just what she was. What she could do. This could shatter worlds. He slipped his arm under her shoulder, then lifted her legs, he couldn't take her in the front, he'd have to go round the back, he could make his way to the upstairs again, she'd be safe there with one of the wolves to look after her. Marie would probably a good choice, the 'feminine touch' as it were.

Emma felt her legs leave the ground and for a moment she actually believed herself to be falling, though her grasp on his tuxedo jacket had loosened considerably.

"You should have let him kill me..you said yourself..you're just not going to do it right now..I'd..i'd rather..now.."

She couldn't think straight, actually allowing herself to slip out of consciousness instead of trying to remain awake and alert. It was impossible - she'd lost too much blood.

-

People were starting to leave and Charlotte had stepped out form the library, straightening out her dress only to remove the mask as she searched the thinning crowd. Still no Emma.

She turned instead to Sean, nearly glaring at him.

"Where is she? She..didn't say one word to me the entire night..she didn't come find me after she went..wherever she went. And I guarantee she didn't leave without saying goodbye. So where is she, Sean."

"You should have let him kill me..you said yourself..you're just not going to do it right now.. I'd.. I'd rather.. now.."

No, her dead would be no use to him, he needed her alive, otherwise he had just brought down the might of the Council on himself for no gain. No, this was finally his chance, his moment of glory. So weak so fragile, yet what he held in his hands contained the power to bring worlds together, or shatter them forever.

She went limp in her arms, not that she hadn't already been, but obviously she had lost the battle with unconsciousness. He cradled her protectively in his arms, holding her to his chest, he needed her, she needed him. At least it was mutual this time. He began to carry her round to the back of the house.
______________________________________________________________

Sean came out of the library smiling, hurriedly straightening his tuxedo. Then Charlotte turned on him. "Where is she? She..didn't say one word to me the entire night..she didn't come find me after she went..wherever she went. And I guarantee she didn't leave without saying goodbye. So where is she, Sean."

He raised his hand in mock surrender, smiling, thinking she had nothing to fear. "Relax, she's probably just with Dimitri, just cause you haven't seen her doesn't mean she's die or something."

Charlotte paused for a moment - but only a moment before stepping up to him. "Listen, wolf. We're going to have a problem if you treat me like I'm an idiot." Her eyes narrowed as she watched him, trying to gauge a reaction.

"People have gone missing in this town since I can remember. And if they come back, they come back different..they only come out at night..or they keep their distance from you entirely if they're your friend. I don't care. I don't care what they are, what you are..I just need you to understand that I know that there is something not right. Ever since she decided to come back with him to this place after the attack..I don't know what game you're trying to play, but someone had better give me some answers"

She conveniently left out the fact that her stepdad had been a werewolf - he didn't need to know all of the details. The only thing that she needed him to understand was that she wasn't naive to everything going on - she just didn't quite know the whole story.

"And..if you think you're some incredible distraction you have another thing coming. I still notice. She's not here. So you might want to go and find your good friend Dimitri and explain to me what the hell is happening. If not that's fine, I'll just grab the sheriff before she leaves and we'll have a look around the place. I'll even be nice. If there is something wrong,..and you guys need me to just..go home for the night? Fine. But I need an explanation, and I need you to know that if Emma wants me around, I'll be around."

Dimitri awkwardly pulled the door open, still cradling Emma in one hand, he went into the shadowed corridor, pulling the door shut behind him. He hoisted Emma back into both arms and looked around, "now where the hell did you put it Valia?"
______________________________________________________________

"Now child, I think you are perhaps being a little harsh to poor Sean. He has obviously been a better distraction than you thought, if you hadn't been so busy in there then you would have noticed her leaving in somewhat of a hurry about ten minutes ago. Of course I'm sure you and the Sheriff would be welcome to look around, Dimitri has nothing to hide."

The woman who had spoke was tall and imposing, long raven black hair framing a sharp face that was reminiscent of ravens as well. Her appearance was striking, though perhaps not beautiful. She was pale and dressed in a long flowing black gown with long wide sleeves. A single pendant of jet hung at her throat and a mask on a stick was held nonchalantly in one hand. Her presence cast an air of awe even Charlotte couldn't completely ignore. Those eyes didn't help, they were cold eyes, cruel, eyes that had seen too much of this world and the next. They were eyes that sparkled with dark laughter, eyes that had already uncovered your darkest secrets and chuckled at the very innocence of them. "But of course, if you must persist on this course of action, don't let me keep you."

With that, and no further remark, the tall woman turned and left, leaving the conversation as suddenly as she had entered it. She swept out of the room, through one of the side doors, presumably to some other area of the house.

Sean stared after her in perplexity, "errrrr, yeah, that was Valia, she has a habit of doing that. And distraction? Was that all I was?"

Charlotte flinched at the voice, as well as someone calling her 'child'. She turned easily to face the woman, though hadn't really been expecting what she saw, especially because the people that Dimitri brought with him didn't tend to be less than attractive and yet here she was, looking somewhat terrifying.

When the woman left, Charlotte wanted to follow. She very badly needed to follow to make sure that Emma was alright, but Sean's questioning had her turn immediately to face him, pushing her hair out of her face.

"I'm going to go ahead and guess that someone told you before the party to keep me occupied. It's fine..because I really do like you. I really did have fun with you in there,..but you have to understand that Emma is like a sister to me. She's my sister in every possible way so I am going to be worried, and I am going to stick up for myself. I know you just thought that I was some naive blonde..but I'm not..and I really hope that that doesn't bother you."

She paused briefly, stepping up to him before standing on tip toe, pressing her lips against his only to pull away a second later.

"I'm going to go..because..that woman is a little terrifying. If Emma is still here..and she needs me..I'm going to hope that someone will let me know. If she's at home..well then this is all a big misunderstanding..but for some reason I doubt she's at home."

"Yeah.. she does that to people."

He only halfheartedly returned her kiss, a little hurt by her comments. In Sean's defense, Dimitri had expected Sean to be interested in Charlotte anyway, only if he hadn't been would he have asked him to provide a 'distraction'. As far as Sean was aware he was innocent of everything Charlotte had just accused him of.
______________________________________________________________

Valia appeared in the darkness as though she'd been standing there all along, a disapproving eyebrow raised at the unconscious girl in his arms. Even Dimitri was wary of Valia, she was old, for a witch, and had wrought pacts with powers best not named, but she was powerful at that, and therefore, a useful ally. Even if they had previously parted company on unfortunate terms.

"I've just seen to it that Charlotte left without causing to much of a scene, but unless you intend to manhandle Emma's memories again then she'll likely be back here soon with the Sheriff, she is, what we old fashioned people like to call, trouble. What are you going to do about it, you can't kill everyone in town... Well, not without someone noticing." She inspected her fingernails imperiously, almost dismissing the hybrid with the unconscious human.

Of course she had her own leverage on Charlotte, but she wasn't going to tell Dimitri that, not until it suited her, the domains of peoples minds were private, and while she was not averse to plucking thoughts from unsuspecting conscious' she wasn't one to spread it like some common gossip. No, she would keep that until it was needed.

"Glamour."

"What?"

"We're going to have to glamour her, she's in no state to do anything right now, glamour her to make her look all right and we'll have at least a few days to work in."

"We? Where is this we? Last I checked none of you have any real magical ability. But I suppose I must. Even if it is only because I owe Henry, he was always so much more of a gentleman." Her tone was, almost bitter, speaking of some insult in the past as yet unforgiven.

Charlotte couldn't really be bothered to deal with Sean right now, simply because she was too intent on figuring out that her friend was alive and well an hopefully safe and sound back at her house, not anywhere near this place. She decided that she'd have to tell Emma about the fact that she knew at least some of what was happening, and what the 'people' were that she'd been hanging out with the past few days but not until she knew that she was all right.

She made it to her car easily enough, almost frowning at the simple fact that she and her friend hadn't come in together and that she'd let her drive separately.

-

Emma couldn't really help but to stir somewhat at the strange dispute happening around her, though the slight movement hadn't been anything more than her subconscious trying to get people to be a little bit more quiet around her while she happily remained passed out.

If she had it her way at the moment she'd just stay unconscious until everyone decided that they were finished with her, though it was almost certain that she'd be awake some time the next day.

Even in the sleep induced by a significant amount of blood loss she seemed to be aware of the pain that she was in, managing to wince with every slight movement, her brow knitted from the pain. She certainly wasn't asleep. There was too much tension in every part of her body screaming at her to get up…she just..couldn't.

"She'll have already left, I doubt I can extend my influence all the way to her house, but we might be able to get around that. Has she got a phone?"

Dimitri found and handed Valia the phone, the witch looked at it disdainfully, holding it delicately between thumb and forefinger as though it were some dead animal. She flipped it into her palm, opening the menu and scrolling down to contacts, before dialing Charlotte's number lifting it to her ear, flicking her hair out of the way. She laid her hand on Emma's face, her fore and index finger resting gently on her eyes. Her own eyes closed for a moment in concentration, then, as Charlotte answered the phone she spoke.

"Hi Charlotte." Her voice was changed, no longer deep and otherworldly, heavy with power. It was now Emma's, Emma's voice, intonations, everything, to see it come from the tall dignified woman was unnerving.

"Yeah, sorry, I meant to come and say goodbye but I got a bit distracted, just letting you know I'm ok. How did you think it went? You and Sean too huh?"

Charlotte was driving by the time her phone rang, Emma's number popping up on the screen. She was quick to reach over and pick up, bringing it to her ear cautiously.

"Hi, Charlotte."

Charlotte tensed, her fingers clutching the steering wheel just a bit harder.

"Emma? What the hell! You…you just up and bailed on me..I told you I had a bad feeling and -- "

She was cut off, glaring at the road ahead as 'Emma' continued.

"Yeah, sorry, I meant to come and say goodbye but I got a bit distracted, just letting you know I'm ok. How do you think it went? You and Sean too huh?"

"Too? Does that mean what I think it means about you and Dimitri? Sean swore that you'd be safe..I just..I get such a bad vibe in that house…when will you be home?"

"Of course I'm safe, why wouldn't I be. I really don't see why, I mean I know it's big but that's kinda awesome. I'm sorry I bailed, I didn't mean too but I came looking for you and you'd already gone. I dunno when I'll be back though, probably not tonight." Valia took the phone away from her face, putting a tone of laughter into her voice, "ok, ok, gimme a minute." She put the phone back to her ear. "Yeah, sorry Charlotte but I gotta go. Bye."

She hung up, removing her fingers from Emma's eyelids and handing the phone back to Dimitri with distaste. She was obviously not happy at having to have done that, not that so simple a deception, with Emma so close at hand, had been hard. It was almost beneath her abilities.

"Happy now?"

"Yes, thank you Valia."

She turned and left, sweeping out of the room glowering. Dimitri glared after her, then sighed, he had to deal with it, regardless of either of their wishes or opinions, he needed her and she couldn't turn her back on this chance. They would have to work together anyway.

He carried Emma through the house, glad that everyone had left bar the cleaning staff, and it was relatively easy to avoid them. He took her upstairs again, taking her into an as yet unused bedroom. With a lock. Hey laid her down on the bed, her face twisted with pain. He walked back to the door, pausing once in the door way to look at her, was that, concern on his face? he shook himself out of it, closing the door and turning the key, hopefully she would be fine in there, he couldn't stay with her all night, she'd be fine in the house as long as she couldn't leave.

When Emma's eyes opened she found that her head was pounding. Everything was foggy as she slowly sat up, seeming to have a hard time in even doing that. She was trying to recall what had happened, though the ache in her neck brought the memories back rapidly, almost at a rate that she couldn't stand.

She didn't recognize the room that she was in and found that she was still in her gown, blue eyes falling to her wrists.

As she removed one glove and then the other she saw the bruises there from Dimitri's fingers, getting a wonderful flashback of the anger in his voice, coupled with the pain as she twisted beneath him, unable to even move him.

Of course with that came the memory of a bite from Dimitri, a second from a vampire she didn't recognize.

Getting to her feet proved more difficult than she would have liked. She felt immediately dizzy, having to sit down again on the edge of the bed, lifting her hand slowly only to rub her temples, as though trying to massage the headache away.

She just felt so weak.

Again she was on her feet, moving toward the door, fingers curling around the knob. When it didn't open she pressed her forehead against the door only to hit the door once with the palm of her hand.

"Dimitri you son of a bitch…open this door.."

She was trying so hard to sound..tough? Perhaps tough, but she could barely comprehend what was happening.

Not to mention the fact that she looked as though she hadn't slept in days. The colour had returned to her face for the most part, still a little pale, but the most telling sign of what had happened were the dark circles under her eyes. The fact that she could barely stand without falling over didn't seem to help either.

She retreated to the bed and sat down, fingers toying with the fabric of the dress, trying to occupy herself not out of boredom, but to keep herself awake.

"Should you really be keeping her in there like that?"

"Sean, I'm not going to bother dignifying that with an answer."

"But isn't it, a bit... cruel?

Sean was obviously unhappy with the setup, he'd never been as willing to do whatever it took as Dimitri had been. It also didn't help that he liked Charlotte, locking up her best friend really didn't seem like a good idea, especially not considering her particularly volatile disposition. But then Sean had always been kind hearted, it wasn't really something one applied to werewolves, not following the typical stereotypes, but despite their shape changing they had always been more human than vampires could ever approach in nature.

"We have no choice, we need her, the Council won't just let us get away with it, not considering what she's worth, what she can do. She doesn't want to stay, we have no other choice, manipulating her mind would simply bring us back to this situation. No, she's safer where she is."

It was about 20 minutes of waiting for a response, staring in a daze at the wall in front of her, before she was on her feet again, this time moving into the ensuite bathroom. Her eyes immediately fell to her neck despite the fact that she looked god-awful, blinking slowly as she ran her fingers cautiously over the marks, tracing the blood that had dripped down her neck and stained the top of her dress.

She wanted to shower..to do anything that might perk herself up a bit, but instead she was again at the door, pressing her ear to it as though hoping that someone would be in earshot and she could hear what was going on.

She couldn't.

"Dimitri.."

At least she managed a calmer tone, though her voice trembled enough to show that her 'calm' wasn't going to last.

"I'm hungry..and..I need to get…this blood off of me…I need something to wear.." Her fingernails scraped against the wood as she curled her hands into fists, nearly whimpering.

Emma was not a person who did well alone. She spent most of her free time with Charlotte, so being locked in a room by herself didn't seem to be helping her mood.

She wasn't even hungry. She was mostly just trying to find a way to give her body a bit of energy in order to fight a little bit harder.

"I'm hungry..and..I need to get…this blood off of me…I need something to wear.."

Alex inspected his fingernails outside the door, scraping blood from beneath them with a small knife. He licked his lips, he'd only just fed last night and despite the fact that his sense were not as acute as Dimitri's, they were enough to tell him that her blood was nearly irresistible. The fact that she was almost pleading through the door, though it was obviously directed at Dimitri not him, was enough to set his teeth on edge with desire. But he wouldn't go in. No. Dimitri had made it clear exactly what would happen to anyone who touched her, while he wasn't a personal fan of Dimitri's he was against the council, 'the enemy of my enemy' and all that. Truth be told Dimitri scared him, if even half the stories were true he was a stone cold killer, even by vampire standards and he'd have no trouble carving his way through the barely two hundred year old Alexander.
_________________________________________________________________

"Well she might be for now, but what are we going to do when Charlotte comes back for her? You know that phone call won't satisfy her forever, she'll be back real soon and then you'll have to find some way of dealing with her."

The implication was clear, if Dimitri had it in mind to 'vanish' her then Sean would have something to say about it.

"Don't worry Sean, nothing's going to happen to Charlotte. The Council will be here soon, we have to concentrate on them, Charlotte we can deal with when we have to."

She was getting frustrated..mostly with the fact that no one was answering her. Really she didn't know if anyone could hear her.

It only took a moment for her to think of something, something that she was certain would get someone's attention. Looking around the room, emma lifted small vase from the bedside table, moving back into the bathroom.

Her heart sped up from adrenaline beginning to course through her veins, reaching back with the vase in hand only to slam it against the mirror. It was louder than she had anticipated, working quickly to lift a relatively large shard from the counter, moving back into the bedroom.

She stood on the other side of the room, pressing her back against the wall as she stared at the door. She held one arm out in front of her, her hand already cut simply from clutching the broken mirror. Her heart pounded as she put the tip against her forearm, wincing as she dragged it slowly across her forearm, deep enough to make it bleed.

The cut was long enough that the blood was dripping onto the floor and down her arm within seconds, her eyes locked on the door as she clutched the glass, putting it down against the skin again in case she needed to make another cut.

There was a smash of glass in the bedroom. Alex shot to his feet, dropping the knife and focusing on the door now.

"Hey, what's..."

Then it hit him full in the face, the scent of blood, her blood. It was no good, Dimitri be damned, he was having her, and there was nothing to stop him. He was at the door, fumbling at the handle, forgetting in his desire that Dimitri had the only key. He snarled in frustration, stepping back and punching the door. It screeched in protest, splintering and shifting in the frame, but refusing to fall. Frustrated he stepped forwards and pushed the door with both hands, pushing it forwards into the room, stepping over it as it fell inwards.
_________________________________________________________________

Dimitri and Sean's heads snapped round simultaneously. The smash and following scream of distressed wood had been impossible to miss. Sean turned to look at Dimitri but the hybrid had already gone, the door slammed open as he disappeared back into the labyrinthine house. Sean swore, grabbing the sword from where he'd left it out of sight in the corner and following Dimitri inside.

She flinched as something hit the door, her heart beginning to pound as she tried to figure out why there wasn't just..a key being used. She heard it then, the door frame creaking and breaking at the pressure of someone pushing on it before the hinges snapped, the door slamming to the ground.

She didn't recognize the new face, though saw the hunger in his eyes immediately. Emma didn't know that there was someone in the house watching her. Nor did she know that it was a vampire.

She lifted the piece of glass from her arm, instead holding it out defensively in front of her, her eyes wide as he advanced, looking past him in an attempt to see if anyone else was coming. Surely he wouldn't leave her there to be watched by someone who wanted nothing more than to drain her dry.

Her lips parted, trying to find her voice, though she only managed a whisper, barely audible to her own ears.

"Don't.."

It was a stupid thing to say, to ask really. She had wanted to taunt Dimitri..get him in the room..not this person, whoever he was. She kept her arm out straight, her hand trembling as she clutched the glass, not even realizing that she was holding it so tightly it was cutting into her hand.

"Don't"

It was so pathetic, so pointless, what did she think it was going to achieve? He snarled, striding forward, knocking the glass out of the way, the blood streaming from her hand where the sharp glass had sliced into her palm. His other hand shot out, taking her throat, lifting her and slamming her against the wall. He was staring at her exposed, delicate neck now, seeing the pulse in it, with a quiet sigh, his fangs extended. Oblivious to the rest of the world he bent his mouth to her neck.

"No."

Dimitri had appeared in the door behind him and despite his bloodlust, Alex froze, his fangs resting on Emma's neck. Dimitri's voice was cold unforgiving. There was no mercy in that voice, it's tone was terrifying. But he was too far gone. ignoring the threat of instant destruction. Alex slid his fangs into her artery, sometimes you had no choice against your own nature.

The glass, her only defense, was gone within seconds. In a blur of motion Emma felt the fingers around her neck before her feet left the ground, her fingers immediately digging into his wrist in an attempt to get his hand away from her neck and in essence, touch the ground. As he slammed her back against the wall the shock of the impact alone caused the struggle to stop, her eyes wide, unfocused as she tried to snap out of it.

She could barely breathe as he held her there, managing a choked whimper as he moved his head toward her neck.

She could see him there then. Well..she could see a very blurry figure in the doorway, her lips parted as she regained enough of her senses to try and get his hand away from her neck. She tensed horribly as he bit down, clawing against his arm. She could practically feel the blood rush out of her, darkness tugging at the corners of her vision. It was too soon to be fed on again - and for a brief moment she didn't think that she'd be able to take it.

(We reached over 1,000 views today and I just wanted to thank everyone who's reading!)

Dimitri grabbed Alex by the back of his neck and some semblance of a survival instinct fought back against the primal urge to feed. Alex withdrew his fangs from Emma's throat, dropping her. That should have been the end of it, it hadn't been his fault. Until Dimitri pulled his arm back and through Alex through the door and into the wall beyond it.

There was a brutal crack and a splintered crack ran up behind the fallen vampire's head. He groaned, stirring, but Dimitri had already bounded across the room into the hall, grabbing the vampire by the lapels of his jacket and hoisting him up, slamming him back against the wall again. His face was a mask of rage, his fangs slid slowly out as his eyes filmed over. Alex's face was no longer hungry, he was terrified, something had been unleashed within the hybrid that he couldn't control.

"Stop Dimitri."

There was a shining reflective blade beneath his chin now. Sean was at the other end, the silver sword unwavering in his experienced grip and his face hard. "You can't do this bro, let him go."

Slowly, almost hesitantly Dimitri dropped the vampire. Alex scrambled away, fear in his eyes. Dimitri stared at himself in the shining sword as the fury slowly left his eyes. "I'm sorry, I don't..."

He shook himself out of it, gesturing into the room, "deal with her, patch her up."

Without another word he was gone, disgusted with himself, he'd lost it. He didn't even know why, Alex had lost control as any other vampire would have done in that situation but when Emma had been threatened Dimitri had nearly torn him apart. What was getting into him? He had to get his head back in the game, get out somewhere, clear his head away from her.
