A hybrid comes to have the blood of one. (Male needed, vampire/werewolf hybrid 1x1)

She was trying to remain calm as he spoke to her, her eyes shutting slowly as she felt his hand over her skin. It was strange and overwhelming, the feeling that she got when she was near Tyler ever since he had managed to worm his way into her head. She felt almost as though she shouldn't even try to defend herself. Almost.

"You don't need to kill me…you want to use me to bring you Dimitri. Then why the feast the other day? Why the attack?"

It was obvious that Emma was having a hard time focusing, her heart throbbing in her chest as she tried to sort through all of the facts. "You could have taken him then..you could have taken him the night of the Masquerade.."

-

She was frowning, crossing her arms over her chest as she leaned back against the counter, watching him trying to explain his way out of things.

"I'm not angry I'm just frustrated with the entire situation. I'm frustrated that Emma went into town by herself tonight…And…she drank her own blood. Does that even make sense to you? She was really vague about what Dimitri actually wanted her for and..drinking her own blood just seems disgusting."

"That was a... mistake, we got a little carried away, the scent of blood is..."

He grimaces, then looks back up at you, the charming smile returning.

"I apologise for that, you have my personal assurance that my vampires won't touch you."

"And yes, I could have had him, unfortunately you decided to interfere. but we all make our little mistakes don't we?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"It's a stupid mistake, she's trying to make sure that if she does get killed, she'll come back as a vampire. But it won't work, she needs vampire blood for that to work so I don't know what she's thinking. She must know whatever it is Dimitri wants her for. Though I can't think why he would have told her."

He chuckled a little, looking up at her.

"I know you don't like him, and he can be a pretty cold bastard, but I think she might actually mean something more to him."

She was still confused, though seemed unphased at the moment with their closeness, his charm making her nod somewhat.

"What if I want a meeting with the Council? Your bosses…right? Can you arrange that or is this whole..give you Dimitri thing a plan between you and I and not necessarily between Them..and me...because...that means I have to stay with him..at his house if you need me to give him up..I just left that damned house..and now I have to go back?"

-

Charlotte didn't seem to be listening past the whole "stupid mistake" bit, watching him cautiously for a moment before turning on heel and walking toward the door. "We are not staying here if she's not actually safe. We are going to go into town and bring her back here…and…and everything is going to be fine. Maybe she doesn't understand how it works? If..she did it in the wrong order, and has to die with vampire blood in her system…her blood has to have something to do with it or else she wouldn't do that..what if she had her blood…her human blood after she died…un..undid…became a vampire. What would happen?"

He paused for a moment, as though considering it, then sprang back into movement once again.

"I don't think that would be a good idea, they're very powerful, very busy, and very far away. I think it would be better for all of us if we simply dealt with this problem here and now. Anyway, who ever said anything about going back?"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Human blood? It might stop her from killing anyone in her first feeding frenzy, but somehow I doubt it, people don't create Vampires in towns anymore, they arrange it all, if it happened to her in town she might kill dozens of people before she was stopped."

His face fell suddenly. "Shit, why has she gone into town?"

Emma watched him curiously, shaking her head somewhat. "I still want to talk to them. Are you sure this is part of their plan or is this something you've made up all by yourself? Maybe nobody wants Dimitri dead." She was quiet, rolling her shoulders slowly into a shrug. "Maybe I should go..keep an eye on that guy you want dead."

-

Charlotte watched him curiously, shaking her head somewhat. "I have no idea. She said something about trying to meet with "them" about getting inside information. I have nothing besides that. Can we go now or are you just going to keep standing there deciding?"

She was already out the door, grabbing her car keys from her bag and calling back, "Don't worry I won't spray you again!"

"You seem pretty determined to talk to them. But I can tell you they are equally determined not to meet you. No, I think our best bet is for you to... as you say 'keep an eye on that guy I want dead', that would be better for all of us I think."

He appeared before her again, the smile still there, undisturbed.

"Well?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He was following her as soon as she said that she wanted to meet them, that couldn't be good, either for Dimitri or for Emma. He knew of Tyler, and all he'd heard suggested that he was a cold hearted, cut-throat, double crossing bastard. Mind you that was just from DImitri's opinion, so it could be biased. He knew there was something between them that Dimitri had never revealed, some connection that made the rivalry personal, rather than the businesslike attitude Dimitri normally cultivated.

"If she's gone to find them we need to get to her now."

Emma's gaze narrowed as he moved in front of her again, though instead of looking at all frightened or put off by the action she took a step forward, pressing a palm against his chest, tilting her head to the side.

"I don't know if you're lying to me or not…but see..I have this magical little stake..I push a button..and it shoots into your chest."

She used her free hand to lift the sleeve of her jacket slightly to reveal the glove-like contraption that had a stake strapped to the base of her wrist.

"I don't like that you were in my head. And I don't like that you had all of your little friends drain me until I was almost dead. So here is what is going to happen. I'll keep an eye on Dimitri..and you set up a meeting with those nice people you say don't want to see me. When that happens..we can talk again."

She moved her hand down suddenly from his chest to his abdomen and pressed the release button on the glove, the stake shooting outward into his stomach though she aimed it upward to it would come close to his heart. She didn't want to kill him - just teach him a lesson.

When she pulled her hand back the stake was already embedded in his body and she sidestepped to walk past him, pausing at his side.

"That was for messing with my head. I'm not a little girl you can use as a pawn."

She said nothing else as she moved out of the bar, thrilled that there was still a mass of people because she couldn't hide her fear anymore. As soon as the door shut behind her and she started pushing through the crowd to get to her car her heart was pounding, the fear so overwhelming that it was dizzying. Tyler terrified her. The fact that he could so easily get into her head did even moreso, and while she put on a good front, she knew that if he wanted to he could do it again..hell, Dimitri could do it.

-

"That's what I'm saying! Who are these people anyway are they vampires too? Or are they like you? Or Dimitri? I don't know what her interest is in these people at all - all that I know is that she is on some sort of mission, hell bent on figuring out what the point of her existence is..apparently it's bigger than just…me trying to figure out my purpose in life…I think she might actually serve a purpose..in someone's life anyway and it scares her. She acts tough…but I've known her for a long time and she frightens easy."

He almost gasped, but just managed to confine his reaction to a pained grimace and a glare. He watched in silence as she walked past him, but just before she exited into the street he couldn't resist getting the last word in.

"Oh no, you've made that quite clear Emma, stay in touch."

As she left he turned back to the bar, an amused smile on his face. He ignored the tear in his shirt and the already healing wound in his stomach. He was grinning in satisfaction as another voice spoke out of the darkness.

"So, she bites."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Frightens easy? She can handle Dimitri, anyone who can do that does not frighten easy. The guy still scares the shit out of me and I've known him for years."

He couldn't quite get his head around why Dimitri wanted her though.

"Purpose though? You talk as if there's some sort of predestined fate for us, maybe she is important, but Dimitri's done that now, not some god. I doubt he'd be interested if he thought some guy in the sky wanted him to be."

Emma managed to make it back to the swarm of people before reaching her car, managing to dig in her jacket pocket for her keys, her heart pounding as she unlocked the door. She had been quite proud of her little plan and didn't even know that Dimitri had been nearly to town by the time that she'd gone into the bar with Tyler. Tugging her phone from her jacket pocket she sent a quick text message to Charlotte, reading:

"Done and done. Should be back in a little."

She was still shaky, opening the back door to the car as she took off her jacket, momentarily doing her best to ignore the obvious chill in the air despite the fact that it did bother her, as proven by the goosebumps covering her arms within a moment of removing the jacket.

Deft fingers worked quickly to unstrap the device from her arm, nearly throwing it into the back seat of the car in an attempt to just get it off of her - just needing to get it away from her body. She hadn't ever managed to be violent to the point of success like that - and if she hadn't needed more information out of him - she probably would have aimed for his heart instead of just trying to give him a good shock to his system.

-

Charlotte nearly scoffed at his words, shaking her head. "You obviously know nothing about women. Especially one like Emma. She's very good at pretending that she's not afraid. Honestly I'm not sure how she's been handling all of this. I doubt very well - she seems exhausted but doesn't really want to rest. That doesn't come from someone who is comfortable with whatever situation they're dealing with."

She paused, tugging her phone from her jeans.

"She's..on her way back."

Charlotte lifted the phone, waving it a bit in Sean's general direction.

"See? Just got a text. Guess we don't have to go on a rescue attempt or anything like that…Wait what are you doing here anyway? Here…with me I mean? Were you following us?"

"Nice toy."

Dimitri was stood behind her as she loaded her stuff into the back of the car. He glanced at her hand, seeing the reddened bandage. He examined the rest of her form, ostensibly to see if she had been injured elsewhere, but since last night he couldn't help but enjoy it as well. He snapped his gaze away.

"What exactly were you doing, walking around with an open wound like that, you know how dangerous it could be for you, that... toy won't protect you."

He was tense, fighting the urge to look around, to search for threats. He knew they were there, even in daylight Tyler would have someone keeping a watch. Vampires didn't like sunlight, it weakened them, but it didn't kill them. He was glaring at her now, the impatience and annoyance only thinly veiled, he'd not had someone affect him this much for a long time. But his gaze was searching.

"What game are you playing?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"On her way back?"

His tone was incredulous.

"Just like that? What happened, what has she done?"

He was clearly worried.

"If she's found them we could be in more trouble than before."

Her heart leapt as soon as she heard his voice to a racing speed, body tensing as she almost reluctantly turned to face him, crossing her arms over her chest partially out of defiance and partially because she could tuck her injured hand out of sight.

Well he looked unhappy, that was certain, but she was frowning as he kept referring to her little device as a toy.

"For your information, I wanted Tyler to be able to find me."

She spoke slowly, shaking her head after a moment and leaning back until she was resting against the side of the seat, uncrossing her arms to reach back and grab her phone, typing quickly as she spoke.

"Not that it's any of your business or that you should even be here. I thought you weren't going to be here, anyway…"

Lifting her phone slowly she stepped up to him, close enough that she was certain even if there were spies they wouldn't be able to read what she'd written.

The message was simple: [i[Can't talk here. My house. Also, you're mean.[/i]

"I don't need your help..and I don't want it…so maybe you should just go home…or hang out at the fair…but I'm going to go now."

She gave him a shove - partly because she wanted to and partly for show, knowing that he wouldn't be moved unless he allowed it. He was too close for comfort, and she needed enough space to close the door. Once she did so Emma easily slid onto the driver's seat, before closing that door as well.

At least 'home' was close by.

-

Charlotte shook her head, sighing heavily. "I don't know. All that I know is that we don't have to go anywhere anymore. Maybe she figured something out..maybe she didn't."

Having already been in her car ready to go, she turned the engine off before stepping out again, moving toward her front door.

"Want a drink? She'll be back soon..but she'll go to her house…and I'm pretty sure I owe you a drink after spraying you in the face. Think of it this way. Now we can relax a little bit and not have to worry about her safety."

-

By the time Emma pulled into the driveway the bandage around her hand was completely soaked. She got out of the jeep and grabbed her jacket, pulling it on only to lean over and take the little wrist harness from the back seat, not wanting to leave anything in the car that she didn't have to.

Her breathing was somewhat uneven, trying to figure out the best way to bring Dimitri in without getting either of them killed. She left the front door open, moving into the kitchen before slowly unwrapping the cut, unable to help but wince as the ache grew.

"You really should take care of that."

He was staring, unable to take his eyes off the open, dripping wound. Ever since that first taste he had been unable to take his mind off her, was it something to do with this? Perhaps if he had just one more taste...

He took a step forward, then realised what he was doing, snapping himself out of it and dragging his gaze away from the blood. He turned going to the window and tapping the glass reflectively with his nail.

"What exactly were you doing talking to Tyler?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He laughed.
"It was kinda my own fault for sneaking up on you."

He hesitated, "look Charlotte, I'm sorry about what happened at the party, I had no idea what Dimitri was planning, I wasn't 'supposed' to distract you' or anything, I guess it just sort of happened."

He blushed a little, "I hope I was a good distraction."

Emma glanced back at him as she heard his voice - keeping her eyes on him but a second before nodding, running her hand under the tap to wash some of the blood away.

"I'm working on it. I wasn't even thinking about what I was doing honestly..but you should have seen his face when I shoved the stake into him.."

Emma turned, drawing a rag from the counter before once again applying pressure to the cut, holding it up at her shoulder in order to keep it above her heart..slow the blood flow, etc.

"I'm going to get him to take me to this…mysterious council. Honestly it doesn't even seem like there is one. He says they don't want to meet me..but we're going to make your army, Dimitri…and we're going to get rid of all of them."

There was some fire in her eyes as she pressed the rag a little harder against her hand, rolling her shoulders in a shrug. "I thought it was a good idea.." She leaned back against the counter, tilting her head slightly, easily realizing that he'd been affected by the cut. That alone made her straighten somewhat, clearing her throat.

"Sorry. Let me wrap this."

-

"Oh it was definitely your fault." She grinned at him, though it faded just as soon as he started talking about the night of the masquerade.

"Listen. I don't want to dwell on it..I feel like we have way more important things to worry about. I'm really okay though..here. It doesn't seem like anyone is after me because..well…no one knows who I am. But I doubt Dimitri will be happy with the fact that you took a detour to my house.."

He hadn't been expecting that, and the surprise showed on his face. He couldn't trust her, wouldn't trust her. But did she mean it, he dared to hope, and then quashed it. He couldn't afford to trust her, to trust anyone, not really. There was a traitor in his camp, he knew it, how else had Tyler found him so quickly.

"Do you really know what you are getting yourself into? They aren't just vampires, these are some of the oldest and powerful beings on the planet, you don't just walk into something like that."

She was doing what he'd wanted all along and now all he could do was convince her not too? What was wrong with him? She was getting through his guard.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Screw Dimitri, for once he can sort out his own problems, Emma's ok and he can more than look after himself."

He tilted his head in curiousity.

"And who are you Charlotte, you seem awfully accepting of everything Emma's gotten herself into over the last few days."

"They don't want me dead. That's all I know. If they did they would have killed me already. They don't seem fond of you, though. I'm pretty sure they want to kill you as quickly as possible but out of the two of you,..they're not showing me enough to make me believe a word that they say."

She had turned away from him at that point, rummaging through the cabinets. She was talking to him while she pulled a bandage from the cabinet, wrapping it around her hand.

"Listen. You don't trust me. I don't trust you. But I do trust you more than the guy who went to town inside my head. So now you're saying that you don't want to do this? Fine. Go ahead and leave then and I'll tell Tyler that I'll keep an eye on you and actually be doing it. Reporting the facts. If you want to create your army. I'm saying I will help you. So you can thank me and stop being a baby about it."

-

"Who am I? I'm a best friend. I'm someone who has lived in this town and heard legends my whole life. I'm someone who has known people to disappear. Of course I'm accepting. I'd much rather her be figuring this out than have her dead or something else."

"No Emma. But it's not going to be instantaneous, we can't create an army just like that, they're going to be suspicious, we'll have to be even more careful if you're going to play them like that."

She finally re-wrapped the cut on her hand, covering the raw wound. He felt the pressure subside a little once it was bandaged again, and the scent of fresh blood already began to fade. He let out the breath he had been holding unconsciously, and turned back to her.

"Thank you."

-------------------

"Don't worry, Dimitri seems to care for her a whole lot more than I've ever seen him care for anything. You might not trust him, you might not like him, but she's probably safer with him than she could be with anyone else."

Sean looked at Charlotte, taking in her whole body at the same time as he took in the steely determination behind her eyes.

"I dunno Charlotte, it's like you've seen us before, no one just accepts this, no matter how good a friend they are. You simply accepted it as though you've always known it. Did you know someone?"

Emma frowned, crossing her arms across her chest after he managed to completely shut down an idea that she had deemed brilliant - before speaking it aloud anyway. Of course his focus had been on the fact that she was dripping blood before managing to wrap the wound, but she wasn't about to let that stop her from driving her point home, and when he finally turned back to face her, she used it to her advantage.

Emma advanced, slowly at first, before placing her fingertip against his chest, dragging it down slowly until it was at the exact point of entry that she'd managed to hit Tyler with.

"You don't understand. I hit him..through here…millimeters away. He knows that I don't want him in my head. He knows that I'm willing to fucking kill him for it. If they wanted me dead,..I'd be dead. Quite honestly if they wanted you dead you could have been dead as well so I'm not sure what they're waiting for. We have to start moving…we have to do something or they will come for you. One by one they'll pick away your friends until you don't have anymore protection and I can't help you anymore. So we are going to draw my blood…enough to give you a start…what…a pint? You'll feed it to whoever you turn and…and poof…hybrid thing just like you. I can't have a bunch of people feeding from my vein, Dimitri.."

Her voice had quieted somewhat, palm flat against his chest.

"He was in my head. And he messed around with it and he can do it just as easily whenever he feels like it…I need….I need some sort of plan in place…I can't just wait in the wings because they'll be suspicious. They're always going to be suspicious. At least at this moment they think we fucking can't stand each other."

-

"Safer with him than anyone? Really? So much for them being at all angry with each other I guess."

She watched him cautiously, slowly rolling her shoulders into a shrug as she managed a slight grin.

"Wouldn't you like to know all of my dirty little secrets. I'm not just going to open up like a book for you..it either takes time or a lot of alcohol to get any sort of secrets flowing."

He frowned, glared at her, and turned away.

"Yes I suppose that is true, that can only be an advantage. And Emma, trust me, if they could have killed me before now they would have done. I am very, very good at surviving, whatever the cost."

His tone was cold, uncompromising, and seemed to make a promise that if Emma was the cost, it would be paid. It was surprisingly hard to assume that character, he was surprised, Dimitri had never had a problem sacrificing others, he'd always been unique, alone in the world. Perhaps that was why, she was the closest he had ever found for his own kind, the closest to understanding, perhaps, just what he went through.

Then again, she had grown up as a human, and human sense were so annoyingly pathetic, they would never have picked up the differences between themselves and Emma, not like Vampires or Werewolves could. He didn't fit any of the worlds, he was no werewolf, no vampire. He was just a bastard half child caught between them, trapped in a half life. He was feared, he had always been feared, after all, no one really knew where he had come from, even the Vampire Council didn't fully understand him. But he knew how they worked, he understood them, and that made them fear him.

----------

"Well he's pretty brutal when he has to be, and he's been around about as long as the council themselves. He's knows how to look after himself, hopefully he won't forget to look out for her to. But then anything that would stop Dimitri, would put paid to almost any of us."

He smiled.

"Well, if you don't mind, I'd like to spend that time with you."
