Michael Reinhart had been a superlative athlete in high school; lettering in baseball, basketball, football, and track. His grades were good and his tests for admission were excellent. So, his choice of what university came down to athletic scholarships. Whoever gave the best scholarship would get him.
In the end, the best scholarship came from his hometown school. He got a half ride from baseball, and another half from football. It would ensure that he was busy year round, but that was something Michael was used to.
The first day of practice he learned being the man at high school didn't necessarily translate into being the man at University. He wasn't the best athlete on the field anymore. Not even the second best. Still very good, but not good enough to crack the two deep, and he got red shirted the first year in football.
The best part was when classes finally began, and in particular Psych101. That first day of class he was nervous, but not overly so, and as he saw the girls walking in, his head was on a pivot as each one seemed better looking than any girl he had dated in high school.
He had missed the girl who sat next to him as she came in, and he could not say how, or why he had. She was simply gorgeous. When he first saw her, his breath caught in his throat as he mumbled, "Hello."
