A Major Flaw in The Arguments of Trump Detractors

The immigration Act specifically prohibits someone who entered the US illegally at any time from being granted naturalized citizen status.

F 'em.
Yeah. As usual you don’t address the issue posed by DACA and folks asking for asylum.

One major flaw in the arguments made by most Trump detractors is that they are not, in fact, making an argument against Trump but rather against the media portrayal of Trump.
There is no difference between the two. Trump is like Big Brother in Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four -- he does not really exist as a flesh-and-blood human, he is a fictional character, a brand mascot like Tony the Tiger, he is his media portrayal.

Tell me what you disagree with, substantially, on Trump's position as he states: "I think we gotta [sic] have tough conditions. Tell people to come out of the shadows. If they’ve committed a crime, deport them, no questions asked, they’re gone. If they’ve been working and are law-abiding, we should say, ‘Here are the conditions for you staying. You have to pay a stiff fine because you came here illegally, you have to pay back taxes and you have to try to learn English and you have to wait in line.’"
I don't disagree with anything that was said here. What I do disagree with is, this isn't even close to what Trump has actually been doing. Not to mention most undocumented workers already do pay taxes and are trying to learn English.

That’s because Hillary Clinton actually said that - and meant it.

See: Post # 7 and compare what Hillary said to what the OP posted.

😳

What I disagree with in the statement above: These people are human beings, and deserve human dignity. According to the principles on which America was founded. Remember, it's not an "illegal," it's a Person. These kind of Gestapo-style roundups remind me more of America's enemies than America.

With that said, I would have no problem if he specifically rounded up hardcore criminal gangs- MS-13, MS-18, or some of these violent paramilitary narco-terrorist groups- because these ARE Criminals- violent criminals- and all bets are off.

But that's not what's happening. These are not the people who are being caught up in the immigration sweeps. We are talking about kids in school, parents taking their kids to the doctors, who are basically being roughed up and put in, basically, concentration camps. No good person should agree with this. I agree that we have a problem with immigration but this is not the solution.

And you asked me specifically what is wrong with that statement above. There are many, many, many more things I have a problem with when it comes to Trump- his policies in general, his statements, his bigoted views, his disregard for the law- I could go on but that's besides the point.

Well, of course. What else? Those kids and parents are easier to find than professional criminals, whose skill-set includes hiding from the law.

I went looking up that quote, because if he had said it, I needed to see who he was talking. It was a bit too reasonable for his level of rhetoric the last few years. The biggest problem I have with Trump, well, other than his disregard for reality, is that this sounds like something he might say, just not to his supporters. He changes his sales pitch depending on audience, like a cheap used car salesman.

One major flaw in the arguments made by most Trump detractors is that they are not, in fact, making an argument against Trump but rather against the media portrayal of Trump. They do not use Trump's words, they use what they heard others report as Trumps words. So let's do a little exercise. I am going quote the man himself, Donald Trump. You tell me what you disagree with in his statement regarding illegal immigrants. Try to avoid the other major flaw with Trump detractors, which is attacking the person rather than the argument, (so-called ad hominem attacks). I will be interested to see if there exists one, logically cohesive argument and it's not whether others agree or disagree with your argument, I'm merely interested in can you form a logically cohesive argument against these ideas?

I know what you did there.. you quoted her Hillaryness.

So why not state who did in fact say it.
