A mortal in the Band (Closed)

He saw the hilt of the sword protruding from a collection of his older belongings, he reached out and drew it out. He held the hilt out for her and when she took it, he pulled the sheath free. Finally releasing her hand, he tilted the scabbard and shook a guitar pick from the inside, it was black with red trim, the family crest in the middle.

He guided the sheath back over the naked steel and then looked at the pick, giving Eden a smile, "Bet you didn't know about this."

One of your other incarnation hide that there?

She smiled seeing the pick.

He nodded his head,

"My previous incarnation actually, since we are finally making our move, we are going to need this and since I am not to keep any secrets from Alex, you should also know the little secrets that I keep."

He slipped the pick into a pocket, placed the sword back, and started to look through the old clothing, "There is one more thing. I can remember that I had put it in here, I just can't remember where exactly."

She nodded.

Anything in particular we are looking for?

"It will look like a jewelry box, black, slim, and about the size of a man's shirt pocket."

He looked at her and smiled, "And it is heavy."

With that he moved his hand deeper, finding what he was looking for, and pulled it from between the clothes, "Aha!"

A brow raised as she heard what he was looking for and even more when he found it.

Beloved?

The description sounded familiar but she was not sure how... No... Had he found it during a previous incarnation? They had sold the amethyst and obsidian necklace centuries ago to get money they needed to out run his brother and still she had lost him that same day.

He turned to face her, a triumphant grin on his face as he held up the black box.

"Yes my dearest love?"

He tried to look as innocent as he could look with that smile still on his lips

Reaching for the box her hands were shaking.

This cannot be what I...

Taking the box the opened it and began sobbing tears of joy seeing the necklace resting there as it had centuries ago.

How did you? When did you?

Looking to him.

How?

This was the amount of joy he had wished to see from her before he had been killed, the joy of a true part of her being returned to her after she was forced to part with it.

"Is it truly necessary to know how my love?"

He smiled gently and reached up to brush the tears from her cheeks, "It was in Prague, the one-night concert we had there. I had a few people looking for it and it was found, back in the old land. Brought out and delivered to me. I was going to give it to you on our anniversary, but fate changed that for me."

Just as I lost you the day we sold it.

She hugged him right shaking finally feeling like everything was finally going to be made right.

He held her tightly, stroking through her hair.

"Yes, it is time that we take our fate into our own hands. Together, we can do it and I will not leave you. Not this time and never again."

He kissed her temple and smiled, "I hope that you like Alex's face though, cosmetic surgery will not take on a vampire body."

I will get used to it. He doesn't look too much different than you beloved.

She pressed the box into his hands.

Help me put it on.

He chuckled, "You should have heard him react to that. It is going to be fun to tease him until we become one."

He took the box and carefully lifted the necklace out of it, looking at it with a critical eye. Yes, it was the same necklace from all those years ago, which now felt like a dozen lifetimes. He unclasped it, then settled it around her neck and secured it. He smiled as he looked at her

"And once again, you are one."

She smiled placing her hand on the necklace looking to the great mirror on the wall.

Ohh do tell me

He moved to stand behind her as they both looked at her reflection, his hands moving to rest on her waist

"Hey! This is my face, I grew up with it and it is a good face, even if I must say so myself."

He grinned, "A few comments along those lines."

She smiled but walked over next to the mirror and uncovered the painting of what her beloved looked like when he was a mortal the first time. The resemblance being uncanny save for perhaps eye color and hair color.

"You still have that? I think next time we sell that instead."

He moved closer and looked at the painting, comparing it to the face reflected in the mirror. He glanced at her

"He wants to know if all my incarnations had this look."

Normally the eyes were always the same look. That was really how we knew. Sometimes other aspects like voice or motions and gestures. Certain mannerisms or how the host seemed to be like old friends to us having just met.

She smiled but shook her head no about selling the painting she the pointed to a corner where paintings or drawings of other incarnations were also stored as well as a photo album once cameras came around. He can see all of the ones where we met. Though one incarnation said he thinks we missed one that just watched over us without joining us

He thought about it, there was a faint recollection, but it was not as intense a memory as what he could remember of the other times.

"No Alex, don't dig there. I don't want to remember that."

He looked away from the corner and shook his head, "He is trying to remember how I had died the previous times."

She remember them all. Her memory was her curse. Moving to him hugged him close.

Listen to him Alex please.

He held her close, slowly stroking over her back

"Don't worry love, some things are best kept secret for now. He will learn that."

He grinned and playfully poked her side, "Didn't you promise me a new song?"

Well let's go rehearse and work on one.

She smiled tearing herself from past memories.

He followed her out of the room, a smile on his face as there seemed to be a new spring in her step. He only realized the myriad of smells and sounds around them as they moved towards the practice room, wondering why he hadn't noticed it before.

She walked into the dining hall rehearsal area and smiled twirling around as Omen nodded to them.

They all know.

Welcome home brother.

He smiled at Omen and playfully slapped him on the shoulder

"Glad that you finally grasped the fact."

Omen gave him a playful growl and the two of them laughed, he moved over to pick up his guitar, plugging it in and doing a quick check.
