A mortal in the Band (Closed)

He looked at the kid, who in turned looked at him, it was not quite a staring contest, but it might turn into one. So he turned his focus to his guitar, making sure once more that the pages were secure enough and then walked over to the fridge and got himself a bottle of water.

He looked up when he heard footsteps nearing the room.

She walked into the room and looked to the little boy.

Thank you for helping them pack up but the place we are going to play isn't really kid friendly so help your mom tonight.

The kid pouted but nodded.

Next time then...

She ruffled hr kids hair and nodded. She turned to check all the packed up equipment.

Well then... Let's go.

Not kid friendly?

He didn't allow his confusion to show, but he nodded when Eden said that they must go. Time to see if he could earn his keep in front of the fans. As they headed to the transport, he found himself walking next to Omen.

"I am curious, who is the old woman? Also family who just happens to like the music?"

The old woman is an old family friend of Eden's. Those living here with us yes are like family... We all take care of each other and the profits from the band helps the family too. You will get used to them in time.

Omen nodded to him though his attention was drawn to the necklace Eden wore. Sneaky he thought... Not the talisman... The necklace that he had made for her. If everyone was right and this mortal is Lucian somehow returned to her... Maybe there will be hope for this nightmare to end.

He looked at Omen as he explained and then at Eden who walked slightly in front of them. Despite the explanations, something seemed quite...off. Barring the strange going-ons and the off limit area, the fact that Eden and Mr Jones talked to each other like old friends really got him wondering. Especially with the strange things Mr Jones seemed able to do, but then again he might also just be nervous and start seeing things that wasn't really there.

With a slight grin, he shook his head and adjusted the sling for the guitar as they came to the transport, "So we're all sitting up front then?"

She laughs a little.

Yep we all huddle up and hold on while Omen drives. Or you could follow us if you don't like that idea.

He bit his lower lip and then shrugged,

"It could have been worse. After you mademoiselle."

Omen laughed...

I don't drive that bad... And anyway... You could drive too Eden.

He noted that he had not noticed the necklace and wondered but got in the oversized van and started it up. Eden just smiled to both of them and climbed up onto the bench seat there in the van.

Yeah yeah Omen just get us there.

He climbed in and closed the door behind him. There was enough space for another person to fit in, he decided that would most likely be Luna's spot. As they pulled away, he motioned to the necklace.

"Nice work, looks very intricately made."

There was a little nagging in the back of his mind, the same one he got when he had to remember something, but didn't know what.

Eden paused and looked to him. Her eyes searching as she spoke.

It was a gift... From an old... Friend.

She bit her lip a little and went back to watching the road. Omen remained poker faced but tried to see what he could read off the situation now.

He stared at the necklace a while longer, not truly buying the old friend explanation. She paused just a bit too long. He looked at her face as she looked forward and thought about the dreams. He blushed when he thought of the more risqué dreams and quickly looked away.

Omen finally spoke.

Lucian made it... Old friend of the bands.

He noted the blush and the shift in air around him and looked to Eden expecting to get slapped for blatantly mentioning his name while sitting in the van with his near dead on lookalike.

Lucian...

That name...

It meant something to him...

Did it?

He was sure he had never heard it before.

He was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he did not notice the change of atmosphere. Old friend...he chuckled

"Seems like you have quite a lot of old friends. I can hardly count mine on one hand, since I have none."

Ehh lots of traveling and working as a band.

Omen shrugged.

Well here we are

Omen pulled up to the loading dock of club

Let's get to setting up

He glanced at Eden one more time, then got out of the van. He slung his guitar to rest on his back and then walked around to open the doors. Already small butterflies was gathering in his stomach. This was not playing music in the park. This was a club. Talk about deep end.

He grinned at his morbid thoughts, saw Eden and that necklace which obviously meant something. He frowned, he was certain he had seen it before.

Once they had gotten everything out and set up Eden handed him another card of chords.

One last song... Normally just done with a guitar even though on one of the albums everyone is playing.

He studied the paper, then looked up at Eden,

"This is intricate. But I am sure I can handle it."

He swung his guitar from his back and placed the paper on a nearby speaker. He pulled a pick from his leather armband and started playing the chords acoustically. She was right, it was on an album of theirs, but he haven't heard it in ages. He nodded,

"Yeah I can handle it."

Omen heard what he was playing and wondered if she was testing him too much.

When is that one in the line up Eden?

He sounded a little annoyed with a last minute addition as he watched her.

Last song if we have time. Just... Felt like singing it again Lucian always loved it.

Again Lucian and again he felt like it should mean something to him. He looked at Omen and then at Eden, "Well if he liked it, we should try it since he was a great friend of the two of you."

He pulled the water bottle he had brought along from his bag and took a few swallows, "So when do we start?"

Eden smiled and moved to help make sure everyone was ready and nodded.

We have a few moments and they have pretty decent food and drink here.

He finished the water and tossed it into a garbage bin,

"Well that is good, from the list of songs you showed me, this will become a long night."

Eden laughed.

Its not that long of a set.

Omen laughed.

Eden... 48 hours wouldn't be that long of a set... To you... He is still young. This is a decent length set with some pretty intense guitar work in it.

He cringed slightly, "Intense guitar work? I sure hope Luna gets back sooner rather than later then."

He gave Omen a small grin, "But how about we go find out if there is a decent beer in this place before we begin? I read that a beer does wonders to relax tensed muscles."

Omen nodded to him and motioned towards the bar.

Just a few more days. And word of warning... Luna can seem a bit cold and unfriendly but deep down she is a good person just have to let her warm up to us having a new band member.

"As long as she plays without biting my head off, I am quite happy with anything she can dish out."

He walked with Omen to the bar, the people seemed strange to him, not quite...human? He shrugged the feeling off and ordered himself a Coors Light.
