A mortal in the Band (Closed)

Hey Reed... Amanda

Omen nodded to the bartenders.

Ocoulto for me and I am sure Eden will want her usual house mixed drink.

They both nodded to them and fixed the drinks for them. Setting them down in front of them Amanda nodded to the new guy and headed out to take Eden her drink.

He picked up the beer and took a swallow of the close to freezing brew, then turned to look at the small crowd gathered,

"So Omen, why do I feel like lunch?"

He looked at Omen,

"Not like having lunch, but a few of the more healthier specimens in here looks at me like I would go down well with a side-dish of fries."

We are here with her man they are sizing us both up.

Omen laughed and glanced around at any of his kind looking at the kid with a stern look of his own which Eden caught instantly and began her own way of stating silently that the new guitarist was off limits.

Let's hurry up eating and get back to the stage.

"No offense bro, but when people that big start looking at me to see if they can take me on, I'm out of a place."

He grinned, "At least I have you and Eden to look after me, so I guess I don't have to find out."

He looked at the Menu and ordered himself a double cheese burger with fries, sipping on his beer.

Eden's name and temper brings a lot of fear to places like this so no worries bro.

With that Omen walked around making his way back to the stage.

After the quick meal and another beer, he felt much better. Of course it was a good idea to get out of the bar while the going was good and that was exactly what he did.

He found Omen on stage, he walked over, checking the sound settings for the guitar. Then worked on getting his fingers loosened up, he was certain that go-time wasn't far away.

Once everyone was back to the stage Eden began to sing. Omen joined in with drums slowly then nodded for guitar.

He was plugged in, ready and on his que, he started playing. The chords coming easily, even with the added load of base. He didn't look at the crowd, he concentrated on playing and doing it right to fit with Eden's singing.

Three songs in, he started to get into the vibe, feeling the excitement of the crowd, the pure joy of the music and he loved it. He could understand why most musicians loved this so much.

She just kept singing hardly taking any break in between as she seemed lost in her own little world with some and interacting with the crowd and the band on others. This was her sanity her escape her soul.

It was almost an hour later when they finally stopped, he was not sure how the other two just kept going and going and going, but luckily he had a glimpse of this in the past practice sessions to know what to expect. He flexed his fingers, unplugged his guitar and moved it to his back as he followed backstage.

Letting out a breath, he snagged a bottle of water and drank it down, his eye caught Eden and immediately his eyes were drawn to the necklace she wore, it really seemed like he had seen it. Since their album covers were art, he knew it wasn't from there. Perhaps a magazine photo?

He caught himself staring and quickly looked away.

Eden noticed him and walked over holding it up for him to see better a memory filled smile on her lips.

You can study it if you want.

He looked closer at the necklace, absent mindedly flexed the fingers on his left hand as he ran and experimental hand over the necklace. "I have the strangest feeling that I should know this, that I have seen it before, but I can't remember where."

He glanced at her with a slight smile, "It is weird I know."

She just smiled to him.

Maybe one day you will remember. I can't remember if I have ever worn it on any album cover or anything.

"I hope so too, it's been bothering me since I saw it first earlier."

He looked at her face, so close to his own. She was beautiful, that much he could not deny, the attraction he felt towards her lay much deeper than that...but he didn't know her. Sure he had read interviews and so on, but he didn't actually know her...yet it felt like he had known her for ages.

She smiled and slowly moved to give them some distance. He seemed so close but couldn't be further away. Were they right? Was it him? She continued to ponder this as they relaxed a bit.

He allowed the necklace to slip away and then turned to see Omen looking at the two of them like he was about to say something, but instead he produced a cold beer and offered it. Alex took it with a smile and sat down on a crate, drinking the beer and looking at the movement of people around them. Soon enough it was time to go out again, he flexed his fingers to make sure he was ready and then he followed Eden and Omen back on stage.

Another set. She loved these little bars that wanted three set shows. It was fun to see how many people would show up for each set and who would leave after one or two. The middle set normally longer than the other two she tossed in the couple of extra songs they had worked on for set two. One only she and Omen truly knew how old of a song for them that it really was. Written centuries ago she modernized it from time to time as musical styles dictated. She did not realize that she held onto the necklace as she sang nor that she had moved closer to him as she sang. Omen observed but simply continued to play.

Once again as they performed, he was taken by the music. Covering the base with the help of the drums, keeping his attention on the chords and not on the crowd. There may be a time in the future where he can actually interact with the crowd, but not yet. Now it was just the music and him trying to play it perfectly, with soul and the fire it deserved.

It was during a pause between songs, that he glanced up to see Eden standing quite closer to him than she had been and that her hand rested on the necklace, then Omen's drums started the next song and he started playing, realizing that the song was not on his list, but his fingers found the chords without trouble, it was like the song was part of him and he knew it very well.

He was sure that he must have heard it on an album and shrugged it off, perhaps Eden just forgot to give him the song, didn't really matter. As he played, he sang softly along with her, the song was really popular to him, but the more he listened and sang along, the more he wondered on what album it was.

Omen watched him for a moment as they played. He strangely found himself hoping the old woman was right and it was Lucian. Eden noticed he fell into the song perfectly and even sang along and smiled to him.

Of course he didn't notice the attention given to him as the song progressed and finished. And so the next song started and when he made his first slip on the bass notes, he knew that it was time for a break and it seemed like Eden agreed with him as she took the end of the song as the end of the second act.

He followed her and unslung the guitar from his shoulder, he was drenched in sweat and he had to rest his hand. He picked up a bottle of water and sat down on the ground, drinking water as he cradled his guitar.

One more set. You think you got it in you bro.

Omen sat down by him stretching out his hands some. Eden just sat back and relaxed staring out into nothing toying with the necklace absently.

"I don't know where you guys get the energy from. You're not even winded and I feel like I have done half a marathon."

He gave Omen a grin

"But just another one of these and I will be ready to go."

We have been doing this for a long time. You will get used to it to and don't kid yourself looking winded or not it takes its toll on us too.

Omen laughed a little then looked to Eden

Let's do this.

He drank more water and dumped a bit on his head, shaking the water off, before picking up his guitar and following the two of them back on to the stage.

Last set was the shortest as they wrapped it up pretty quickly. They quickly packed up then roamed around among the fans for a bit and left.
