Shivaun Leth

Shivaun came to slowly, feeling as though he were aflame with the intensity of the fever raging through him. Blinking his sleep-encrusted eyes, he gazed blearily about, taking in his surroundings through a rheumy haze.
He was in a darkened room, though his befuddled mind could tell him nothing of how he had come to be there. The clearing, he thought, his addled thought processes taking time to wring intelligible thought from the words. Those people, that woman, she must have brought me here... but where is here?
At that moment, the door began to open. A beam of light from beyond the room shone through the ever-widening crack thus revealed, and Shivaun lifted one leaden hand to shield his sensitive eyes.
The movement awakened a whole new world of pain, and he welcomed the onrushing darkness once more.
Before he was swept away, he caught one last glimpse of the doorway, and of a face silhouetted against the light, reflections dancing merrily off the ruby highlights in her shimmering cascade of hair, and off the twinkle in her large, expressive eyes, and then the world disappeared from view.

A plan...

Scorpio smiled as Max once more took a seat in front of the table. His second-in-command appeared much more alert now that he had some time to eat and rest. When Max was seated, Scorpio spoke:

"Like I said, I'm thinking big. Real big. Something that's gonna be remebered forever!" He paused drammaticaly.

"But sir, we've lost quite a few people lately. We're on the run... This probably isn't the best time for something 'big'."

"That's the whole fucking point! We're being chased like a herd of goats, and we supposed to do nothing 'bout it? Look, we can keep running while the mages pick us off one by one, or we can strike while they least expect it."

"That's very true sir, but if we all die now, who will pursue the Cause?"

"Tha's the beauty of my plan. We're gonna get out of this alive. Except for a few martyrs."

"So what's the plan?"

Scorpio reached into one of the desk drawers, taking out a small plastic box. "You know what this is?"

"Er, a bomb?"

"Yes! Plastic explosives. Sean recently build this for us from scratch. He can make 20 of them a day. Each one can destroy a whole fucking building."

"And the plan, sir?"

"Real easy. You pick three people. Make sure it's someone who doesn't mind becoming a martyr. They each strap on 5 or 6 of these things. I've got contacts set up that can get them into a very important place... Guess where?"

Max thought for a moment. "Sir! You don't mean the Citadel?"

Scorpio smiled. "Exactly! The Citadel - where the mages have their Great Council set up. They'll go in through the sewers, come up, activate the detonator - and BOOM!!! we've got a whole fucking firebomb right in the heart of the mage's government! We're gonna blow those motherfuckers to hell and back!!!"

TYPO!

Antheia Ferrington

Antheia opend the door for her father and the doctor and took his hat. She stood to the side as the doctor examined the man, still lying motionless on the bed. He shook his head, and closed his bag.

"He has Scarlet Fever, I'm sure of it. Here is the antidote" the doctor said, handing my mother a small white envelope. "Seep a teaspoon of it in boiling water for a few minutes, then have him drink it. Begin now and continue every 4 hours until the package is empty."

"Thank you doctor" said Austin, Antheia's father. "I'll drive you back into town".

The doctor nodded his head in thanks, and accepted his hat from Antheia. "You've grown since I saw you last, Antheia. Still chasing after an adventure?"

"I always am" she replied, a grin on her face.

The doctor chuckled and waved goodbye to her mother. After closing the door, Antheia returned to the chair that was beside the mans bed and sat down. "I wonder who he is" she said outloud. "Father said he didn't feel any magic in him, but I've never seen him in town before."

"You're father will find out where he comes from. Besides, by tomorrow he'll be well again and you can ask him yourself." Gemma smiled at her daughter, came towards her, and gave her a bowl with a light blue liquid in it. It smelled like the air after a rain storm. "Wet the cloth in this. It will sooth his mind as well as his brow."

Antheia nodded, doing what her mother told her. She went out to fetch more wood to keep the house warm, then returned to his bedside with a cup of warm water and his medicine. She lifted the mans head, resting the cup on his lips and tilting the cup so he could swallow the warm liquid. Anthiea thought he had opened his eyes for a moment, but it could have been the flickering shadows.

Antheia kept watch over him throughout the night and much into the next day. Antheia was beside him as much as she could, giving him his medicine when it was time. Her parents had gone to their neighbours to fetch come supplies, leaving Antheia to care for the sick man.

She was tending the fire when he openend his eyes. It took him a few moments to adjust to light. Turning his head to the right, he saw an open window, letting in the rays of the noon sun. Above him the roof was oddly shaped, rounded instead of pointed. In front of him he saw he was in a little alcove, build in to the side of the house. He closed his eyes, then reopened them again when he heard a soft voice singing by his left. He turned his head to see better, and saw Antheia leaning over, tending the fire. Her skirt fell accross her back in a pleasing manner, showing the shape of her legs through the pale material. She soot up, put the fire poker against the stone of the fireplace and turned to face him. Her face lit up with surprise.

"Hello. I am a friend" she said, as not to frighten him.

OOC: sorry so long...

Arwarn

The fool had fallen off the horse! Sighing and shaking his head, Arwarn dismounted and stood before the tied figure.

"I mean really! I know that you don't want to be caught by the mages, but falling off my horse is a really stupid way of going about escaping."

He saw the boy's eyes were fixed on the 45's, and the older man gave an unpleasant grin. "Upset I stole your toys, boy? I couldn't resist them - guns such as these are so difficult to obtain, even when you are a black marketeer. Though a sword looks so much more elegant, don't you think." Underneath the swirl of black and silver cloak, a very dangerous looking claymore flared dully in the light. Arwarn took one of the guns from his belt, rubbing a black-clad finger over the greasy metal. "So pretty. So deadly." He raised it, cocking the unfamiliar weapon, aiming it at Slance.

"Now get back over here and onto the horse before I have to shoot you through the foot. Come on, boy. Move!"

Shivaun Leth

"Hello, I am a friend."
Breathing deeply, trying to clear the fog from his mind, Shivaun heard only vaguely the words spoken aloud, his gaze fixed upon the vision of elegance reaching toward him.
"How are you feeling?"
Closer this time, as she covered the distance between herself and his resting spot with a fluid grace, and he realised that she was asking him a question.
Shaking his head to clear it, and angry at losing himself, he pushed himself up off the cot, faltering when he once again glanced up at her. Sweet spirits, her eyes...
Unthinkingly, he smote himself upon the forehead in an attempt to gather his few remaining wits, but suceeded only in giving himself the mother of all headaches, centered right smack dab in the middle of his brain.
Wincing, he slumped forward, then recoiled, pulling the blankets up around him to cover his exposed skin. Looking about, he was unable to see his clothes or his blades anywhere, and he wrapped the meagre protection of the blanket around himself ever tighter.
"How did I get here?", he asked, pushing the words out past the raspy gurgle in his throat.

Slance standing up says in a crisp and almost entertaned tone although he was scared he had learned not to be afraid he says " You wouldn't kill me if you killed me you'ed be hunted by the mages untill they caught you trust me I know." Then a grenn glow starts in the hand Slance has behind his back and he etemps to pull the gun form the man.
OOC: I say etemps because the rules say i have to let you react if this thread has other rules please tell me.

The gun skittered from Arwarn's outstretched hand, skittering across the floor towards the boy.

"How in the name of the God did you do that?!" he exclaimed, his face twisted into an almost comedic look of shock and waryness. However, the realisation slowly dawned.

"You can do magic. You can do bloody magic! Well thank you for mentioning that, you sodding mages!" The mages, not trusting Arwarn one inch, had not told him what they wanted the boy for. He had just assumed they boy had done something wrong.

"And why should I trust you. Okay, you have a gun, which is a big reason to say that I am your best friend. Oh, and the whole magic thing - I won't mention it to the mages if you don't. In fact, I could just tell them that I couldn't find you, that you had disappeared or I could say you mugged me and you are really powerful and I was afraid I'm really really sorry for chasing you and then tying you up and then taking you to the mages I'm really really sorry please don't kill me!" Arwarn suddenly realised he had been babbling and the strange trenchcoated boy was staring at him with a look of slight contempt.

"Look. I know I'm a big coward - hell, that's the only way to survive around here. And if I go back to the mages I'll end up in their dungeons faster than you can recite the national anthem. If I let you go, can I possibly.....canIcomewithyou?"

Life for those who failed the mages was intolerable, and Arwarn was not prepared to have all of his gold taken from him. The only escape, if the boy gave his consent, was to escape far, far away from here.

hmmmmmmmmm

Jake chuckled at the man and he says " Your qite nieve aren't you?" The man just nods slightly. " The mages only want people who ether has magic or are a threat to the mages now ether of those are a good reason to be afriad." The man nods again. Then Slance says in a stern voice "Give me the gun!" and he rises the gun pointing a t the mans fore head.

Arwarn

It was either be killed by the mages or killed by this maniac. What a choice to be made... and how dare he, this squit of a boy say he, Arwarn, was naive. And afraid! The natural instinct to survive, cowardliness, was far from fear! He decided to play along for now and agreed with him.

However, as the boy demanded the gun *where are his pleases thought Arwarn - has he been dragged up?* he got tired of playing the other's game. He pulled the other gun from his belt and cocked it, making sure he had a very firm grip.

"I'll give you the gun in one way or another. Willingly, if you allow me to come with you. If you do not - I am not afraid to kill you if I must. I have done so before. Your choice."

OOC - don't kill me! If you do decide to shoot me, do it through my leg or something

OOC: I wont kill you but don't screw with Slances guns he likes them a lot.

IC: Slance smiled and poits his gun at the man then said. "I don't really care." and his eyes turn blue and his hand jerks glowing and he etemps to pull the gun away. Still holding the other one firmly in place.

OOC - okay then. I'll be nice...

Arwarn didn't wait for the magic to start to drag the gun away. Instead he uncocked the primed weapon and threw it at its righful owner.

"Didn't really want them anyway kid."

He swung back onto his horse, ready to gallop away. His horse, un-nerved by the tension plunged wildly, but he never moved in the saddle.

"Know anywhere near here that sells moonshine? I figure that death by liver failure is much better than being taken in by those mages and being left to rot in a cell."

It was then he realised that the mages were almost upon them...

Alissia motioned for the small band of magi that followed her to halt, she tipped her head to one side as if listening to something, A frown appeared on her face and the violet eyes change to a deep dark purple.
" Damn and blast him, I'll feed him his own liver when I get hold of that sniverling wretch" She snarled.
"After them he's no longer got the boy" she called to the following troop.
Alissia had never liked or trusted Arwarn, which was why she was following, she wanted THAT BOY and if she didn't get him because for some reason Arwarn had turned traitorous by the god would she make him suffer.
"on" she called to the troop "I want them both alive, the boy is not to be harmed in any way as for Arwarn.... Just make sure he's alive I have plans for him!"

Slance turnes his head and hallors at the guy as he jumps on to the back of the horse in one swift movement. "You told the mages ware I am you idiot there'll kill us both you will be noted as a fellow comspiraser." "Now ride!" slance says loading his guns and poiting them in the dirrection the mages are and firing off a few rounds.

Antheia Ferrington

Antheia sat on the chair beside the mans bed, re-placing the damp cloth that had fallen when he had sat up.

"Shhh..." she soothed. "It's alright. You're safe. My name is Antheia, and you are at my parents farm."

He closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them again, seeming more aware of his suroundings. "I was lost, so confused", he raised his hand and touched his forhead, brushing his fingers accross Antheia's.

"Oh" she said, pulling her hand back.

"I'm sorry" he said, putting his hand back on the blanket.

"It's alright. Well, you know my name, whats yours?"

"My name" he thought. "What do I tell her".....

Arwarn

He kicked the horse into a gallop as he and the boy fled the scene which was getting a little too near to the mages for comfort. Again, yet again, Arwarn had outsmarted them. Oh, that Alissia woman knew a thing or two, and he knew that she did not trust him, but the rest of them? He had been running rings around the mages for years; why should it stop now?

He hid a sly smile as he urged the horse onwards. Part one of the plan had gone well - his master would be proud of him.

"Where are we going then?" he yelled over the thunder of hoofbeats ringing off granite and earth as they careered into the forest, getting further and further from the mages.

Mordin left his apprentice at the door, and entered the Concil Chamber without knocking, and overheard the end of a conversation.

"We'll have the boy soon. What of the others?"

"A boy?" Ian interrupted. "Is that why you summoned me, to hunt down a boy?"

The Council turned to him. Only one member spoke.

"Alissa is handling that situation, Mordin," The Concilman said with a sneer. "We have no need for your assistance with it."

"Good," Ian snswered. He hid his scowl. "Alissa," he thought. "That power hungry bitch." Aloud, he said, "Don't expect me to clean up her mess."

"You'll do whatever we ask of you. The God has seen to that. Besides, Alissa doesn't make messes. She cleans them up."

Ian scowled, mostly because he knew the truth of what the Councilman said. Alissa was very good at what she did. He very nearly felt sorry for the boy, whomever he was. Probably a future Mage. The Enclave hunted them down ruthlessly. They might escape for a time, but not forever. Evertime they used their powers, would only bring the Magi closer. And anyone who tried to prevent the Mages capture, was destroyed.

"Than what?"

"We have need of your unique talents, Mordin."

An assasination then. "Who?" He knew better than to ask the crime. It was always the same. Blasphemy, and treason against the God.

"This time, we want them alive."

"Them?"

"It shouldn't give you any trouble. You'll be taking your apprentice with you."

Ian stepped forward, hands clenched. "He's not ready for this..."

"The decision has been made, by one who can not be dissuaded."

The God, Ian knew. "So be it. I need a name and location."

"We don't know the location. And as for the name..."

OOC: No offense Delite :p

alright *sigh*

Slance looked behind as he saw a faint glimmer of light he knew of course what it was and he wanted to get away. "Huh?" He wasn't listing to the man so the man repeated the question so Slance told him. "Do you know any thing about the group that fights the mages?" The man replied. "Theres tons of them." Slance said shivering. "I mean the one that is close rival to the god the one witch has sucsess more then falur." The man just kept riding. "I want to find out how to contact them I don't know much about the group all I know is there against the mages."

OOC:Thats scorpios group and I don't think Slance knows that they kill any people with magic:(

"I'm sorry ma'am we've lost them" One of the Magi troop informed Alissia.
Alissia stared at him her eyes now a deep black, she wanted to hurt someone and at that moment it didn't matter who, focusing on the Mage who had spoken Alissia let rip a fire ball aimed directly at the mage's stomac.Turning to the rest of the troop Alissia addressed them "Let that be a warning to all that follow me I do not like failure and those that fail me will suffer"
Turning her back on the troop Alissia concentrated her thoughts on the boy. hmmm nothing she couldn't read anything from him.
Arwarn then ,
the following troop sat quietly as Alissa concentrated, after a short while she stood up a thin unpleasent smile on her face.
"They ride towards the city, hoping to join up with rebels"
she said " We will reurn to the citadel"
As they rode Alissia formed her plans, She was going to need them she wasn't the only one who hated people who failed a plan might just save her from suffering and humiliation.

Arwarn

He considered the boy's question. "I know of a few, but the most powerful is run by a bloke called Scorpio. He's probably what you're looking for." Arwarn suddenly hauled the horse to the left, drumming his heels into its flanks.

"We'll have to go to the city. Better to hide out there anyway - anonymity is always good. And taverns. Always feel safer in a place where there are taverns full of welcoming arms, cheap alcohol and cheaper women."

Arwarn felt a sudden uncomfortable fullness in his mind, something squeezing against his brain, but he put the slight ache down to adrenaline. It left as quickly as it had come.

He could sense that the young man had wanted to fire off some shots at the mages, but that would have made things so much worse. Rogue and thief he may be, but Arwarn didn't want to be hunted down as an accessory to murder; he had more important things to do. Like survive.

slance heard his repliy and thought mabey the man was englesh and he said. "The beer sounds fine I don't care much for hookers." Slance said almost with a sneer. " And I do know to hide I've eluded the magi for four years and my magic only goes to my disadvantage but what I'm wondering..." Slance stopped relising he hardly knew this man and the man a minuet ago was about to bring him to the mages and Slance a minuet ago was going to blow the mans head off. " Just to ask you havn't been thinking about ware we were headed have you?" The man just gives Slance a confused look. "Well I'm sure Alissia has already tried to read our minds I've practiced shierlding mine but if you havn't then..." Slance started up again. "It doesn't matter they can't out smart a person whos out smarted them for 4 years>" Slance said it firmly but he felt different he didn't know he hasn't ran from this Alissa she is quite power full and Slance was wondering why <After all this time they assingned some one as power full a as her all of a sudden did the mages know some thing I don't?>

The minute draws near...

Max caught up with Scorpio as he was taking a walk through their underground catacombs.

"We have just recieved word from the men, sir. They have made contact with the guides, and are on the way to the Citadel. This will be their last transmission."

"But what a great way to go!" Scorpio smiled. "They will become heroes - their names will live on for all eternity! Shit, I kinda wish I was with them..."

"Sir! The Cause will die without you!"

"I know, I know... I'm still here, ain't I? This is their day. Me and you will get a chance to die for the Cause another day... Well, fuck it, there's no time to waste. Turn on the TV, and let's wait for the news. Make sure everybody in Red Wolf is watching. We owe the martyrs that much..."

********
Hundreds of miles away, a small group of men made their way through the sewers, heading to their death...
