A hypothesis is a guess, while a theory is a hypothesis that has been accepted by many.

Yes well I was expecting a semi mechanicle nature backed by complex politics people pretend doesn't exist. Truth is the difrence between a theory and hypothesis is virtuly a bit of gossip.

A scientist simply has to form a hypothesis and if it holds true in the first round of experiments he can refer to it as a theory. From there is some one likes the idea they call it a theory and if they don't a hypothesis. In other words there actully isn't any difrence between the two except popularity, and not even a defined amount. So if I wanted to call evolution a hypthesis or say eating babies promotes beter sex life I can because all the two really are is a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

Well I wouldn't try and use it as a tool. But my statement was basically telling people not to do something will probably cause one out of three people to do it. (87% of statistics are made up on the spot.)

Further more manipulating people is actually a quite risky business, everything is really just a gamble. Speaking from my educational background I can tell you the key thing in making learning happen is edging ones bets. Consider the theory of multiple intelligences, which lists many different ways a person can be intelligent. Each intelligence responds to particular manners of learning, a kinesthetic person needs motion, visual spacial a picture, mechanical need a demonstration, audio simply need to here, and literary intelligence simply need to read it. So to teach well a teacher must hit as many media as possible as smoothly as possible. Considering being taught is a simpler form of manipulation then most, one can only wonder why some one would try advance and relatively unstudied forms of manipulation.
