A question about series.

I had ten months between chapters 2 and 3 of "Dungeon of Desire". It's been about eighteen months since I published a new chapter of "The Dome".

Of course that's nothing compared with some professional authors like George RR Martin and Patrick Rothfuss.

Any Lit author ever? Wouldn't surprise me at all if there are >10 years instances you could find.

I wrote an SF series that eventually had 12 separate chapters. I went nearly two years between the third and fourth parts.

In full disclosure, I hadn't intended to make it a series at all when I wrote the first part. The second and third parts came out about six months apart, then the long gap before pt 4. After that, I realized I was being an asshole to my readers and I sped up a bit.

I've not personally seen longer than about 12-13 years. Doesn't mean longer doesn't exist though.
Someone quite recently popped by, an AHer from a long long time ago, saying they'd just released a new chapter after many years - I can't recall who it was.

It's coming up on two years for the third chapter of Suburban MILFs Club. Will probably be closer to three before I get it done. I'm just now sorting out the particulars.

I am personally proud of persuading both bi_cathy and PygmyCoho to finish off I'd go gay for you and Options, respectively, both after gaps of 12 years.

You're welcome. ;-)

TawnyT takes the crown though.

There's a reason that tag exists now šŸ˜ Truly a master manipulator.

Seriously, though, I will never thank you enough for poking my brain enough times that the idea for Ch 4 popped up. And nor will all the readers who were clamoring for it.

A couple of months is my longest, but I have changed my approach, preferring to finish a series before posting the first part. This makes dealing with continuity issues much easier, and supposedly some readers will not begin reading anything that is not yet finished.

That said, I might reopen an old series to add a new episode or two. Although I have a few ideas, I would rather work on a new series.
