A Question For the Wiccans…

I’m working on a story off site –urban fantasy genre- in which a portion of plot hinges on some elements of ritual magic. I’ve found some passing good resources for the elements that I’m seeking to portray, but they aren’t supper clear. Thus, I’d like to get some clarification from someone with knowledge on the use of herbs in rituals.

One resource maintains that Anise Star (Illicium verum) is used in the consecration of ritual vessels. Does anyone know how the herb is prepared for use in this manner? What elements of it are used and how if it applied to the vessel (cup or chalice) so as to consecrate it?

Also, the resource I’ve found is generally limited to white magic or magic for good intent. If a practitioner were to engage in less noble purposes and sough to enact a ritual that would manipulate the emotional state or opinions of others on some subject (their opinion on an issue, for instance) is there a ritual element –herb or otherwise- that is attributed power or usage in such pursuits?

Thanks for your time!

As Wicca is an umbrella term, it is very difficult to say that any one path is canonical. That being said, many follow the Gardnerian Path; however, the rituals are closely guarded. For other paths and consecration rituals try this or this or just google the terms.

So the bottom line is that there is no canon nor any dogma (although this does generate a lot of debate among not only scholars but practitioners themselves), so there isn't a 'right' way.

Hope it helps.

Interesting picks politico... Lovecraft seems like a perfect idea... kinda confused on the screwtape letters idea, but I haven't read the book in a while.
