A quick apology to AH

This is TheRedLantern / HyunnaPark. I had stopped publishing in November and closed my account about a month or so ago. You might remember me from such things as an obsession with Korean poetry, an insatiable appetite for first person present tense, and a sexual fetish for lists containing three items.

If you don't remember, that's fine and I hope we meet & interact soon.

If you do, then I need to apologize for the abruptness of my departure. It didn't have anything to do with AH, Lit, AI, one-bombing, pending queues, or whatever the next challenge we, as authors, will face here. It was something going on with me that I didn't understand until I was mostly through it.

My goal here isn't drama, it's just to say "sorry" to all of you and a hope that you'll have me back.

Welcome back! More than happy to have you rejoin, of course. No need to apologize, really, shit happens. It's more important to take care of yourself than anything else. Hopefully things are better for you now :)

Welcome back, glad you worked through what you felt you needed to.

But you don't owe anyone here an apology or explanation for doing what was best for you.

No, that is not why you need to apologize. Rather, you should look at the “Posts: 12” part of your post (as of this writing), below the avatar, and think what it means.

Or heck, I’ll tell you.

It means that you’ve been willfully deceiving everyone as to your true identity. And you did that while participating in some of those controversial AH topics that you now trying to distance yourself from. That’s not exactly a hallmark of a honest person, and it’s now difficult for me to see you as one.

For this reason, please excuse my refraining from participating in a welcome committee. I do not appreciate subterfuge.

Where's the subterfuge? The OP has told us what they've done, apologised for a sudden departure, and has come back with a new account name. What's the big deal?

I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt - maybe they went away to protect their mental well-being: "...something going on with me that I didn't understand until I was mostly through it."

12 posts, none on a controversial topic, unless something has been deleted? Seems picayune.

I deleted a few posts, I always do. I deleted them because I was getting snappy towards someone who was being rude to another poster and that doesn't really help things, and I deleted a long post in the sijo thread in the Poetry forum where I explained the concept of yeonsijo (and also said that I was HyunnaPark).

TheLobster and I have always had a positive relationship based on not taking ourselves seriously, so I assume that's what's going on here.

I waited until now because there were a few people I wanted to apologize to (and thank for not giving up on me when I was going through a particularly low time) in a personal way, explain all the details, and give them a chance to react in a private setting. The last of those conversations happened yesterday morning.

Nothing was done with deceit in mind, although I wouldn't blame someone for coming to that conclusion.

Well, they are saying they were here before and divulging the names so I don't think their intent was to be sketchy.

Not like the other person running around here with at least three alts being used as back up singers and the person who has been here under many names but seems to have learned how to somewhat behave enough to not get whack a moled again. Even writing this time. (Hint, hint.)

Welcome back, soldier. I am afraid the problems that made you leave Lit still persist to this day. And as usual, there is no hope that Lit would fix them. I guess we just have to live with the problems.

So...you are actually a lobster?

Welcome back, sijo.

What's the big deal?
Considering how sensitive people around here are about particular actions being taken from secret alts — namely, voting — I'm at a loss trying to understand how would that not be a big deal.

Are you really going to pretend you don't understand the difference between adopting one, consistent, albeit pseudonymous identity, and hiding behind multiple different ones?
One of the Lit authors (probably an AHer) left a nasty anonymous comment under one of my stories, and when I told them to grow a pair and come back with their real account, they left another one saying how everyone is anonymous on Lit. As much as I don't like negativity, I have to agree with TheLobster here. Having a consistent identity---albeit a pseudonymous one---sort of matters.

That doesn’t seem to be what happened here. OP closed one account then opened another. Do you feel you need to be consulted on such decisions? Seems to me it’s none of your business; that they made this announcement at all is more than was necessary.

(Also welcome back @sijopunk )

Me personally? Of course not. To the contrary: everyone on this forum deserves to know that the person they’re interacting with is the same person they have interacted with before, which is why it behooved anyone who changes their identity to signal they’re doing that.

On this forum, the two easy ways to do it is (1) to put a note in your signature; and/or (2) announce it somewhere visible, like in a new topic, as your first contribution to the forum under a new identity.

OP has done neither of these things, which is dishonest and deceptive.

I did a quick scan of their whopping 12 posts before they did exactly what you require. Which was it you found to be maliciously obscuring their true identity? The one about pastries or the one about Biggus Dickus?

Not having any skin in this game, I'll fall back on Will Rogers saying a stranger is a friend you haven't met yet. With that in mind, welcome, welcome back or just Hi.

HyunnaPark has "Loves spam" under their name. Which means the person was banned. Laurel and Manu are the only ones to issue that title when someone is Banned. If they left the site it would say Guest under the name.

Couldn't it be that they really love Spam? Who doesn't love luncheon meat?
