I was very young when this song came out, but I remember being mesmerized by that guitar sound. I was learning to play piano, but the sound of the guitar on this song was just so much more cool.

Now, 50+ years later, and I have been playing guitar for 40 of those years, I still love the sound of the guitar on that track.

I had similar feelings about this song. For some reason I could never keep it straight whether this was the Hollies or the Raspberries. But yes, that guitar riff was awesome. As well as the harmonies. Probably these guys were going for the Beatles sound. They sound like a British Invasion band. But they're from Cleveland! As someone said: Before Feb 9, 1964, there were no rock bands in America. Afterward, there were 3,000 bands.
