A Throne for a Warrior

::Bre looks about and see that Nyte was whispering with Drago and wonders what the two are up to and listens closely to what they are up to. Thinking it awfully unfair for Nyte to have all the fun she carefully follows the two out of the city to see if she can help::

Unbeknowest by Nyte, draco, and their spy was another spy, flying high overhead, his black feathers blending in with the night sky. A small, very small object fell out of the sky too. Smaller then a pebble and lighter then a feather, noone noticed the object stick to nyte's cloak and move into the folds. With a quiet "Wark", Cryo turned around in mid flight and made his way back to the Tavern.

----------------------------

Nyte and Drago heard the Wark, and looked up into the sky. All that they saw however was an endless blanket of stars. Hun. Must have been my imagination.

::nyte mumbled something about being jumpy in her old age and kept on walking::

Old? you! ::that sent drago into peals of laughter::

::nyte scowled:: ok laugh it up fire breath

"Hey, when you get to be my age..." and he stopped there, in both words and motion, taking a slight sniff at the air.

"Huh?" Nyte stopped to watch him, confused by the sudden stop. "Something the matter."

"We're being watched... there's another scent in the air..."

"What do you mean?" She looked about worriedly now. "I don't see anyone."

"No, you don't." He looks to her, with that he intentionally speaks up. "Listen, it's a little too risky for us to be walking around this late at night, perhaps we should go find an inn somewhere. I know of a place, not too far from here." He motioned with his head down the street. "We'll talk more when we get there."

Quizically she nodded, wondering just what was up.

Garret pulled Vixen over to a table, making sure they were alone.
"I got something for you," her eyes lit up. Garret knew she liked suprises.
"What is it?" she asked.
"A birthday present, I know your birthday was a while ago, and it has been a few years late, but here."
Garret took out a brown sack, and slowly unrolled it. There inside, were two beautiful and deadly daggers. The blades were long and curved, as well as sharp. The hilt's were more special though, they were polished brass finish, and in elegant letters down the side was one word, Vixen.
"I hope you like them," Garret said, "It took me forever to get them."
He looked into her eyes.

"Oh!"... Vixen's gasp of surprise was like a puff of air held too long in her chest. She blinked rapidly, trying to fight back the tears. She'd never... ever... received anything so beautiful before... so... perfect. She held out her hands for them as Garret passed them to her. She felt a little shiver race down her spine as she touched them for the first time.

"They're... beautiful..." she tested their weight and balance... her smile indicated her pleasure. "They're perfect! Oh Garret!" She did a very un-Vixen thing... she squealed with delight and flung her arms around him... hugging him tight. "I've never really gotten a present before!" Her voice was muffled in his neck until she pulled back long enough to smile into his eyes. "I'll treasure them forever!" She looked down at them again... her attention completely wrapped up in them as she absorbed every detail. She pulled out two of her regular knives and carelessly left them on the bar. She slipped one into her special hip clasp and the other she nestled between her breasts. She sighed a blissful little sigh.

"They even feel wonderful!" She winked teasingly. She grabbed Garret by his lapels and drew him towards her. He felt her soft lips on his cheek and then her warm breath as she whispered... "thank you."

As she drew back she kept her voice low as she became serious once more. "What do you think of him?" She nodded towards Rick who stood politely a short distance away after Garret had pulled Vixen aside.
"I'm not sure... my opinion is slightly... coloured regarding him to say the least... " Garret grimaced recalling the earlier incident. Vixen nodded, whether in acknowledgement or agreement was hard to say.
"I still have a job to complete with Travesty... I was bored... he annoys me so... but a job is a job... I'm hoping it will be over quickly now that we're here... would you help me with it? Four hands are better than two... and you know I don't take on more than one job at a time. When we've finished... we may consider Rick's offer... he... he's strange that one... I must confess, I'm intrigued... I don't recognise his accent... and the way his blood is tainted... very odd... also, I don't like how he seems to know so much... at the very least I must find out how he knows what he does..."

Sith's nervousness pased away. He had thought for a moment they had seen him, he had that nagging feeling in his neck. When he dared to look around he didn't see anyone looking at him.

The shadows in the tavern 'talked' to him, so he knew when Nyte left, as they also told him when the vampyre used them to move from place to place. Sith smiled.

Now that he was sure they where all out he decided it was time for him to leave. He paid his drinks and went out. Maybe he had drunk a bit to much, because his eyesight wasn't as sharp as usual, and he hadn't all his wits with him. He decided to walk in the outside, hoping the refreshing air would clear his mind enough to attempt shadow walk with no danger.

Rick's mouth creaped up in a crooked smile. He had personal knowledge that Vixen will never again "squeel with delight". But she will have to learn that herself. "I can show you what I can do. but how I know what I know is another story for another time."
A knock on the door made all three look at the small figure who just arrived. "Everyone has left the tavern to go on their various adventured. I can tell you where each one went, though I think you would rather go on your own."
"And what will you do, Kelvin was it?"
"Oh, I follow Rick here. Oh, and I was the one that embarresed you Garret" as if affirming his skill, Kelvin held up a silver dagger, the one that Vixen had stored between her breasts. She imedietly checked her chest for the dagger, seing if it was just a trick, but finding nothing she threw a punch at the little man. He ducked under in and held up his hands in a peacefull manner. "Relax, relax, I didn't take your dagger." Sure enough, it was back in it's rightfull place, and garret's undergarments were once more in his hands. Garret's face turned red, and all they could do was laugh.

Garret looked at the man, an evil smile. He held up the man's own underwear, and his sword.
"Don't trick the trickster," he said, handing them back, "And if you ever stick your hands down my pants again, you are going to be the one losing an arm."
He could see the man got the point, heading back to his own table. Garret looked back at Vixen.
"All right, I am in." he smiled at Vixen. He still kept his eye on that man. He wondered if he was gay, or just liked touching men's underwear. Either way he didn't like that man.
"Good, let's get started," she said. Garret nodded

"Good let's go," Vixen said as they turned to leave. Just before they left however Vixen spun around light on her feet and kicked the small man in his backside causing him to jump in surprise. "Don't EVER go anywhere near my... " she paused for effect... "knives again... got it?"

She and Garret left the two there as they approached Travesty again. "Ready M'dear?" He asked her as they approached.
Vixen nodded, and the three of them left the Tavern. Vixen frowned as she watched a cloaked figure walking ahead of them. She nudged Garret, and then indicated with a jerk of her head the figure... "doesn't that walk seem a little familiar to you?" Garret frowned looking at the figure... slowly he recognised what Vixen meant... "No way! What are the odds?" He chuckled.

Vixen grinned. "Trav... wait a sec, me and Garret simply MUST say hello to an old friend!" Vixen and Garret jogged quietly up to Sith and Vixen jerked on the back of his cloak causing him to spin around in surprise. "IT IS YOU!" Vixen exclaimed happily. Sith didn't look particularly pleased to see them. "Why aren't you shadow-surfing then?" Garret asked pointedly. Sith rolled his eyes, "you two never understood any of the things I told you did you?" He said exhasperated.

Vixen ignored the caustic remark and continued, "this must be fate... we're just about to attempt a job... with you with us it'll be a breeze!" Vixen chirped.
Sith groaned, feeling decidedly worse for the fresh air and drink combined. He pondered whether it was worth the risk to Shadow move just to escape his... 'friends'. Vixen grabbed his arm confidently, making even this option impossible. He sighed. "What is this job exactly then?" He asked as if dreading the answer.

"Oh... don't worry about the fine details... piece of cake really, Travesty..." She pointed to the man standing a few meters back... "hired me, he had a little score to settle with some high ranking official in this kindom, he left it to me how to humiliate the person... " she grinned, "yup, he doesn't want me to kill him even... how easy is that? So anyway... I have a plan... but getting into the man's quarters was going to be a little tricky, but now that you're with us... you can slip us in no problems! Ooooh... " she finished stroking the material of his cloak... "nice cloak... new?" Her eyes glinted teasingly.

Rick walked slowly but shorely after Garret and Vixen, Kelvin following behind. Rick managed to hear the conversation, and became intrigued. He's let them do their business, but figured he'd tag along as a silent, unnoticable, undetectable colligue. With that inmind, it was time for a little "friendly advice" (which was his way of making fun of people). He stepped infront of Sith.
"Tell me, Sith. It's true you can walk amungst the shadows?"
"Yes, that's true"
"Well how can you walk in the shadows when there are none?" Rick held up his hand wich began to glow brightly, the light somehow finding it's way around people and objects, totally eliminating shadows in the tavern and some ways outside. "Handy little trick this is. It helped me defeat the shadow demon of Nekara." Rick smiled mischifesly.

:drago didnt take her to a tavern, instead he literally pulled her down a dark street making sure no one was following them before speaking::

its safe. :he said, still looking around::

ok what the hell was that and where the hell are we going. and what the fuck has you this worried? ::nyte didnt care if he was king of this kingdom or that he could have her executed on a whim, she was just tired of being led around without being told really where they were headed to::

Now tell me drago ::she pulled her shadow blade out for emphasis::

Kelvin stepped outside to feed Cryo. He didn't see Sith's reaction, but he bet's it wouldn't be pleasent.

"Don't threaten me with that blade, do remember my most natural form is of a shadow dragon..." He said bluntly.

She blinked, well... she hadn't figured on that, hell she was just so used to that sword freaking everyone out, but Mr. Draggie had to be soooo different. "Well, then.... just tell me what the hell is going on!"

He smirked at her. "We were being followed, not by a person though, a bird of some kind. Anyway, I do know a way we can avoid further instances. Now come on." With that he turned and walked further down the alley, heading out with her in step behind him to a quiet thoroughfare and down towards the center of the city.

"So where are we headed?"

"Like I said... to a tavern, now come on." He wandered his way down the way, coming to a rather busy place, stepping through the doors the crowd was overwhealming. "Follow close..."

"...like.I.said....to.a.tavern..."
Kelvin put the headset back on Cryo, where his feathers imedietly covered it up again. "Good work buddy. you keep guard here, I'll inform Dimo." Kelvin whispered, even though noone was around, and everyone closeby was distracted by the light. Kelvin put down his visor again and stepped back into the tavern. "Di....uh.. Rick, I need a word." Rick shut off the light. is it important? came the mental question. it involves the true nature of king Drago.
ok, these people can here it.
"It appears that our King Drago is in truth a shadow dragon. And from what I've learned from the people of this town is that it's not exactly a common thing."
"How did you find out about it Kelvin?" Asked Vixen.
"When you've been around as much as my companion and I, you tend to pick up a few things here and there."

Cryo said:
[Bit involves the true nature of king Drago.
[/B]

OOC: Can I ask how it is that they know he's the king? If you look back, he is traveling as a warrior right now, not showing a sign of being a king. He has not announced his kingship either... and also, the kingdom is named Draconius... and it is named that for a reason. His people know he's a dragon.

IC: He looked back to Nyte following behind him, a nod to her not wanting to say anything now. He moved towards the bar and leaned in to speak to the barkeep. "Yes, I would like a bottle of wine. A fine one, perhaps if I could see the cellar to get it?" And quietly he slid the keep a plat piece.

The keeper looked to the coin a moment before sweeping it up. "Aye! Indeed ye may. Take yer time and enjoy."

A nod. "That I shall." With that he turned to Nyte. "Come, this way." He motioned to a set of stairs before climbing down them.

OOC; if you really want me to ruin the story a little, Rick and Kelvin have mental abilities that allowed them to look into peoples heads and read thair thoughts. His statement about the true nature of Drago was directed at Rick, and was meant to mislead Vixen, Garret and Sith.

OOC: That's all well and good, though it should be noted such as that with the mind-reading so we the muns know about it, suddenly knowing hidden facts like that without an explaination is bad RP.

Sith's reaction to the disapearance of all shadows was peculiar, he just smiled.

He turned to Vixen and Garret. "How do you always manage to get me involved in your crazy schemes? I will go with you, and keep you safe... from yourselves."

::nyte eyed the crowd with a twinkle in her eye::

Dont even think about it ::drago whispered:: i can still have you hanged as a thief.

::nyte frowned: you wouldnt mr fire breath...now, shall i order something to go with that wine?

He smirked, leaning to whisper. "Better get it to go. Come on." He nodded and turned, leading her down into the cellar. Stopping he looks about a moment before choosing a direction.

"Just what are we doing down here anyway?"

"Shhhh!" He held a finger to his lips and stepped to a wine cask, raps on it and a full sound follows, he looks over the front of it a moment before reaching to one side of it, tugging a moment as Nyte watches quizically.

"I don't know if we can carry all that even if you're a dragon..." she stopped with the scowl back.

Another tug and the whole front of the "full" cask swings forward on a set of hinges revealing yet another passage behind. Her eyes widen as Nyte realizes the plan and grinning hops inside. "Coming?"

"Shhh!" and he climbed in and grabbed the handle on the back of the "door" and shut it tight, pulling out a glow stone to light the way as he motioned down the tunnel before starting to walk.

::nyte quirks a brow:: another of your passages eh? now where the hell are we going drago?

:: Drago was right about them being followed but not just by a bird, Bre humms as she follow along behind Nyte knowing that if she tags along with her she is most likely to wind up in the middle of an adventure or orgy or some other kind of fun. Stuff like that just seems to hunt Nyte down. Bre didn't know why but it was a benefit of hanging about with her, never mind she considered her a good friend. She follows the two along and can't imagine why Nyte has NOT noticed her, as she is not hiding and usually picks up on such stuff well. She smiles thinking of her friend's motto "Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me." Bre catches up with the two of them just as Nyte starts to enter the cask:: hey wait for me! ::Bre whispers at her::

Cryo heard drago talk about him and wine, then after a hinge sound, nothing. Must be underground, the chocobo thought to himself. He had hoped that they would stay above ground, but they couldn't stay under forever.

Inside the tavern, the only people left were Rick, Kelvin, Vixen, Garret and Sith, and the latter three were planning to leave any moment. Morning was only a couple of hours away and beginning to creap up in the east.

OOC; if you haven't guessed by now, (and assuming you havent, because complaints take up space) Cryo dropped a radio bug on Nyte. Since their is nothing magical about it, it should not show up under detect magic spells.
