... in Greece. The War had been going on for three months already, the Peloponessus' counrtyside ravaged by the pillagers of both Leagues. Athens and Sparta, enemies since time immemorial, had once again engaged in a destructive war against each other, instead than facing off the Persian thread from beyong the Egeus.
Anacreon had been in one of these skirmishes. A true spartan warrior, the muscled man stood at his thirties, the perfect age of martial prowess and political standing. Some said that soon enough Anacreon would inherit a mantle of military command if he did keep his mind sharp and his arm strong. And it was so that, in this afternoon, another battle was joined, and a combined army of Thebes and Athens had been faced off, and scattered against the nearby, besieged city of Argos. The Spartans and their allies had been attacked while besieging the ancient ally of Athen, but instead of being scattered, they've had vanquished their foes.
And it was that Anacreon followed a trail. He had stalked this warrior for some time now, facing him in the battle but suddenly taken out of it as the phalanxes met in a thunderous shield clash. Now, the battle had been over, many of the League of Delos had been killed, including a famous general whose name he would never remember.
Where was that Athenian weasel?
